Same happened to me - lots of missed calls. Got so fed up I called the number that said it was a courtesy call from Vodafone with a ring back no to speak to them where I got various messages as to why no one could take  the call but obviously I was still getting charged! Googled the no and called Vodafone who confirmed it wasn't them but weren't really interested in telling their customers about it. Shame - it would be helpful.

I'm on O2 and got a call from the same number, didn't answer it but glad I know it's a scam now.
Looks like they are branching out and not limiting it to Vodafone customers!

Just got called by this number, they knew my name and when I asked who was calling they said it was Vodafone. I was a bit confused so said "I'm not with Vodafone" at which point they hung up. I am furious that I was stupid enough to give them even that info. I'm sure I will be getting a call at some point claiming to be one of the other phone providers, they might even get it right one day. Be carefull they are just out to scam everyone. I will be much more careful in future, don't give out any information.

I actually used to work for LBM, I came accoss this site when looking for details of LBM for my new job. I want to say that, LBM does have seats for Vodafone, they include:
Upgrade Department, contacting excisting customers and trying to get them to re commit

    An Additional Lines Department
Contacts existing customers and tempts them to take a second or third

    Sales
NO VODAFONE CUSTOMERS, contacted to tempt to Vodafone.

Now I dont know if you are aware, the database is usually of those coming toward the end of their current deal with say O2. Now LBM also work for O2, how do you think they know your contact is ending???

I LBM will use your number more than once, for more than one company, I was training to be a manager, and whilst searching for a number, I noticed it was dialled by Vodafone, O2 and Aol campaigns!!!
Hopefully this will clear some stuff up.
By the way, if you call the number back, you get a message saying Vodafone

Thanks for someone finally clearing this up! After 45 pages or whatever it is about time. I was actually expecting Vodafone to call, I had sent them a request in an attempt to change to them so I can get a HTC Desire (great phone). 08080600702 rang me at about 19:00 and on ring back, the pre-recorded message informed me Vodafone had been trying to contact me, ring 'em back on 08080000155.

I of course wary of scammers, Googled the number and here we are, apparently after some people on page 7 or so dialled '191' [I guess some private Vodafone number for customer services?] and got the confirmation it was Vodafone, I am surprised that there is another 35ish pages?

    HTC Desire for the win.

I actually work for LBM and is genuine as we are hired by VODAFONE directly. the calls you recieve regular depend on how the agent dispositions the call when its ended. (eg. you hear the deals etc and your not intersted. therefore when the call ends they have to select NOT INTERESTED and this puts it into a block for around 6 months.) if you ignore the call or hang up it auto goes back into system to redial another time. Also we can confirm the handset you have and a text sent from the vodafone syatem to prove who we are. hence they are up to date special offers we promote and if you called cust services they will confirm.  So if you get any of the calls. hear out the offer on your account sp you dont go back into the auto dialer. Hope this settles everything. Mark.

I got calls from this number, called vodaphone back who confirmed they are genuine and working for them. I was suspicious as they were offering an unbelievable deal which i have now taken up. I think it is perfectly legitimate for companies to ask for your business. For me i have ended up with an HTC Desire HD, 600 crossnetwork anytime minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited mobile internet for £14.99 per month FOR LFE! Have contract to prove it too. So as one of the guys on here said, listen to the deals before putting the phone down, it may just be worth it.

Mate that is total [***] i don't care how much of a loyal customer you are you'd never get that deal!
That tariff would cost you at least £30 quid minimum and have a contribution fee of over £100.

Calls from this number are from a company that vodafone have outsourced to. currently they are making calls to customers to offer discounted additional lines. usually a £5 discount off the normal price. which is quite compattive really in the market. Deals start for a tenner and you get a free phone of decent quality.

they also take numbers from customers if they know friends or family who use other providers, for example, on payg networks. to offer them a deal of some kind to move to a contract. these wont be discounted lines unless the original customer takes it as an additional line for the friend.

beware though as a lot of mis selling happens. i speak with customers on a daily basis who have stuff on their account that they are not aware of and they are actually paying for, in which case service agents have been putting deals through without agreeing this with the customer. The company replaces staff on a regular basis and recruits literally every week. I work for the company vodafone outsource to, its called LBM for those of you who aren't already aware. I am a level 2 direct sales agent. Its not to bad if im honest and i've learnt a lot since working for them. I have received great training and the systems we use are top notch. we have all customer account details as we actually use the same account system vodafone do. it cost the company a lot of money to do this.

We have a supress button on our dialer system we use to call customers. If you do not wish to be called, simply request for the agent to press 'supress call' and remove you from marketing. This will stop calls. we are told to only do this when requested by irate to extent customers. Obviously if you say your not interested we would usually press not interested, in which case you wouldnt recieve any more calls from that campaign for a while. Supress should completely stop calls as we want to keep the customers happy.

We have recently been made aware that voda now want us to act more like customer service agents so as to not make all customers think we are tryin to sell crap to them. We actually get marked down now on the quality of our non sales calls, as well as all of our sales calls.

everything is recorded, inspected and scrutinised to [***]. the company pays a good basic wage to level 2 sales agents of £14,500 per year. with the bonus of commission if you exceed 12 deals a week. Now, the company of course does not like paying commission, so they check all the sales calls for quality. if you mess up on certain things you get whats known as a critical fail, thus loosing ALL commission for the month. Worst thing is, they tent to do this right at the end of the month, just before payday, when they hand out the commission...

    Lol hope that helps!!!

Forgot to say, if you hang up, or sometimes when you say not interested or no time to speak, you will get put back into a call cycle and will usually recieve a call around every 3 to 4 hours. same with answer phones.
