They are on this list TPS supplied scam list http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/news1.html

Beware of Unregulated Companies Charging For Their Service!

There are other companies that are not necessarily scams but they are not TPS. They usually claim to offer a similar or even an enhanced service to TPS.

They make exaggerated claims about the effectiveness of their service and may even suggest that TPS does not work.

Some of these companies are listed below:

CPR Global (previously known as the Call Prevention Registry)
    http://www.callpreventionregistry.co.uk

    Opt Out UK
    http://www.optoutuk.com/index.asp

    Anti Marketing Group
    http://www.nomoremarketing.co.uk

    The Advertising Protection Agency (TAPA)
    https://www.theadvertisingprotectionagency.co.uk

    Stop Unwanted Calls
    http://www.stopunwantedcalls.net

    No More Marketing
    http://www.nomoremarketing.co.uk

    The Nuisance Call Registry
    http://www.nuisancecallregistry.co.uk/

    IPC Intelligent Protection For Consumers
    http://www.davisonandson.co.uk/#

    TPS-Register.org.uk
    http://tpsregister.org.uk/

All of the above are commercial organisations, all of which charge consumers for a service that is unregulated.

TPS is the only official Opt Out service that companies are required to abide by under the UK law and that is regulated by Ofcom and enforced by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

If you have any information on these types of companies (phone number, web address), please send details to john.mitchison@dma.org.uk

If you are mugged by any of the above because you didn't get the chance to google their names with the word scam get a charge back. Some of them use boxes pre-loaded with scam numbers and others just take you off a dialing list which they supply to the scammers. Read somewhere it's a protection racket.

Sorry to hear that Tapa and Tncr scammed you. You need to do your homework these days. Just google Tapa scam. Read its run by a convicted criminal who got done for running a scam advertising company but now he's got a few new businesses like phone reporting and directory sites like the one the other bloke and you got scammed by. Stay safe mate. A fool is easily parted with his money.

Thank you all for your advice. I've taken it up with my credit card company who are disputing the cost. The chap at nuisance call registry said his name is Matthew James. I've had no replies to any emails I've sent and no info from him.

    Beware!

"My name is Michael Bourne, i own the Nuisance call Registry, and i am absolutely disgusted by the comments that you have made with regards to my company being the TAPA...How dare you jump to an incorrect conclusion!"

The lady doth protest too much, methinks...

"thousands of companies use that address as it is a prestigious London address, plus my accountants are based in the building, so it is used as my registered address"

Prestigious London address? Where is your evidence to support this grandiose assertion?

It's more representative to say that 27 Old Gloucester Street, London is a mail drop for a host of dodgy brass plate and fly-by-night firms:

Just give the Nuisance Call Registry a ring on 0843 523 6105
    see: https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08435236105

They loaded their number onto a few "unusual" directories, such as freeindex.co.uk If you're ever looking for a scam firms details freeindex is a great resource. Lots of scam support publishing, SEO companies and debt collectors on there. The scammers seem to swear by freeindex. Some of them wont list anywhere else. Can't think why... or can I?

Ties in with the web registration details, except that Piccadilly is spelled correctly. Presumably Eastway or an equal completed the freeindex listing, his spelling is equally atrocious.

One from your message where "he said his name was":

    Two from official sources:

    Martin Thomas - Website Registrant

Perhaps there are more? Perhaps Michael or Eastway can help us?

Curiously enough there is a Michael Bourne implicated as being one of the "Parliamentary Information Office" scam publishing house's telemarketers who calls companies up to 'advertise'

    https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/02089564110/4

"Michael Bourne called once earlier in the week to get the MDs name and then again to pitch a cheaper page - only £495 . As a micro-SME that has just got a uk gov contract, I nearly fell for it. This website saved me.
    Caller: Brooks Parliamentary Information Office
    Call Type: Telemarketer"

    Small world.

Are you Eastway? Because this is a classic example of a scam artist caught with his trousers and then futilely responding with the bumptious and bungling protest of:

"Any further such comments will result in legal action being taken to whomever feels the need to make slanderous comments about my company based on extremely poor intelligence."

Yes! Bring on the legal action! Whatever was stated, was written, and is thus libel and not slander, and a good indication of an extremely poor intelligence on your part.

"Please take my advise" I take it you mean advice?

Says it all really, incompetent and dim. Thank you ;-)

I would have thought that a man with your intelligence, pedigree and experience would be impossible to dupe. Have we been mislead? Is it really so easy for scam support publishers to dupe you? And now TAPA? After all the warnings on here? I am disappointed in you, Eastway

"Is there a particular police force or officer we can speak with..."

Eastway, you keep asking me to ring the police to verify your claims. Yet when I ask you for the name of the officer you been in contact with, you never provide it. I want the name and telephone number of the officer you are in contact with to verify that what you claim is true. Indulge all of us, not your anxieties.

Peace, according to their entry below, the Nuisance Call Registry started in 2008. They also state "many years of experience in the Telecommunications sector". Clayton House has had a number of scam support publishers housed in it (Eastway will be squirming now) so presumably they obtained this experience when they were scamming away on the phones. There is also a link to TAPA at this address. Let me know if you would like me to copy and paste the evidence up here, although I do enjoy prolonging their misery.

"Hi, if you paid by card you can just call your card issuer and report it as a fraud. You have attempted to resolve with the company but if you cant get through it makes it impossible. As long as you have tried your card co will process a charge back and you should get the money back in a week(ish). Tapa talked me through the very same process and it works."

To clarify, the TAPA scam artists talked you through getting a charge back from the www.nuisancecallregistry.co.uk scam artists ? Rather pointless when you've a shared history isn't it? Or are you trying to indiscreetly distance yourselves from each other? The criminal Anthony Simister's director disqualification still stands, so I appreciate the risks if the Nuisance Call Services Ltd's Nuisance Call Registry is actually being shadow managed by Simister via Bourne

Certainly explains the feverish protests and feigns of indignation by Bourne and 'Eastway'

You'd both make a fortune as spokesmen for organisations wishing to project an air of amateurism and bungling. Have you ever considered it?

No problem. I wouldnt advise against letting us know if you get it back ok, you too may be a tapa plant!

FACTS, lots of posts there (tapa do warn scammers bury positves with lots of negatives!)! I'm financially far better off for joining so long may I continue getting ripped off! Tell me, do you normally sit up at 4am drinking and abusing people? To clarify, I now am tapa, nuisnace calls registry, free index and whoever else you see fit? Put the beer down, it's doing you no good!

Just Google the details for Merseyside police and cheshire trading standards, it's evident you can use it. Cheshire seemingly have 1 person that deals with tapa enquiries and merseyside police will direct you to the relevant officers dealing with advertising company investigations. Tapa state they are not linked with either but regulary pass their evidence and reports to them. They confirm this is true as well as there is no investigation or concerns about them.

    Eastway replies to Cm
Probably not. They tend to change their accents as most are calling from the same office or 3 "voices" are the same person. The best place to report it is action fraud. Reason being is it's run by the met police and they build the complaints up and when they get enough they then hand it to the national fraud investigation part of the police and in turn they then instruct the force that the company would be answerable to to take action.

You can also bypass all the nonsense and report it straight to the ICO. Thats who tps pass their complaints to so cut out the middle man (tps) and go straight to the top. The ico regulate the data protection laws so if you feel they may have breached them in anyu way or have the liklihood of doing so report them to bot action fraud and the ico.
