Can you explain why, after having initially paid the £35.52 + VAT in January for your service I recently received an email stating that:

"We have tried to contact you via the telephone but have been unable to gain an answer.
We have recently been made aware of a new type of nuisance caller originating from outside of the Uk, We believe these calls are originating from India.

These companies are using new technology allowing them to apply a charge to your phone line the moment they make a connection; we have had reports of customers being charged over £100 in some cases for simply answering their telephone.

We have updated our systems in order to combat these new unwanted callers.
To protect your line against this new type of nuisance calls we will need to cease your existing service with ourselves and re activate a new service for you to include our updated service,

For us to activate the new service for you we will refund your initial activation fee of £35.52+Vat, therefore cancel the original service, and then reactivate the new service for you.

If for any reason you do not wish for us to refresh your service please inform us within 5 working days by replying to this e-mail with your wishes.

Please note that NETWORK REGISTRATIONS will be appearing on your statement.

I look forward to returning your peace and quiet to your phone once again.
    Kind Regards
    Andrew Wilkins
    Nuisance Call Registry Customer Support"

I replied to this email to ask whether the refund would be given BEFORE the payment was taken again and received NO reply.

I checked my online banking at the weekend and discovered that I have been charged AN ADDITIONAL £35.52 and had received no refund. I have received no response to any emails further to this and have placed the matter in dispute with my bank.

Michael Bourne, what do you have to say about this? You are trying to portray your company as a legitimate one but from where I am standing I feel I have been scammed and ripped off.

I made the same mistake in January and regretted it soon after. I got an email from TNCR last week telling me that they were going to refund me and then re-charge me again in order to upgrade the service. I mailed back asking them to explain this but got no reply. Checked my online banking at the weekend and rather than a refund they had taken a further £35.52. This is the exact amount they charged initially but minus 20% VAT. I have raised a dispute with my bank and will be refunded this sum. The original money is long gone. Check your credit card account to make sure they haven't charged you again too. Total bunch of thieving scumbags. I am usually very shrewd but I really took my eye off the ball with this one. I was off work with flu and the number of unsolicited 'phone calls we were getting during the day was driving me mad.
I notice  Michael Bourne, director of TNCR has been on defending the company in earlier posts. The bloke has got a lot of neck for a blatant thief!

Beware people! Tapa and their network of scam nuisance call protection sites are having a recruitment drive at the moment! We had to tell Tapa to get lost twice this week, looks like the scam charity who pestered us passed our number on after we told them we were not interested and terminated the call. Do NOT fall for the Tapa patter and grunts! They and their friends make their money from fraud and are nothing more than conmen and criminals. Call the police if you feel threatened and do not give in to their demands!

After actually doing some research and calling the numbers it is very clear that the only association the "nuisance call protection sites" have in common is that they use a very popular mail forwarding facility in London.

Why if you told the scam charity company "no" would TAPA then call? You would be somebody that doesn't need TAPA so it would be pointless them calling! Do you even think before typing?

It did not work for me but by Jesus at least I made my own mind up!! Why follow the sheep and decide because whats on here is factual?! You evidently run a business for them to have contacted you, so how the f**k you are still trading I do not know!

I think we need to steer clear of the TNCR its a young business newly registered and may be a one man band. The website is awful and not very professional and the information given as to how the system works or what you actually get for your money is non-existent.

There are already call blocking systems and services from BT for instance, granted you have to pay for these but they do work and I cannot think of anything that they cannot do that the TNCR claims to do.

The defence shown on this forum by what appears to be TNCR is appalling and the comments are not what you would expect from a legit business. I have read this whole thread as I was looking at purchasing one of these types of products, but found this one to indicate a possible scam so I will be steering clear of the TNCR.

Your decision is good but thought process cr*p.

Just because a business is new or a sole trader it does not mean it's a scam. What I would make a decision off is the fact they give very little info on a poorly constructed website and their staff seem incompetent and pushy at best.

Also, it may be best to go to the thread for TNCF number as this is for TAPA. It's confusing as some moron declared any business that uses British Monomarks service at 27 Old Gloucester Stree in London is run by the same person and it seems to have had a domino effect. JFYI.

So 7 days after the last post (that means you didn't see the number when browsing this site), you decided to go to a site for reporting unknown, unwanted and scam calls.  You did this because you wanted to see if the company which had done such a wonderful job for you was mentioned on the site?  Now could this be an attempt by the owners of the company to try and put a positive spin on it?  Sureley not.

I think you may be right. Also, why would any genuine happy customer go to a thread that is not for the company they are claiming is so good? Why not say it's not their number and just report it to the administrator?

I have just been stung by this company caught completely off guard. I completed the form yesterday online, I thought it was all free and then stupidly paid without saying anything. after finding this forum I phoned them back requesting a refund, guess what I can't have one! phoned my bank who said I could get my money back if they investigate it as fraud. I am still waiting for 'the nuisance call registry' to call back as I don't believe terms and conditions were told correctly. the girl didn't stop for breath and when I put the phone down all I kept thinking was, wasn't it supposed to be free????.  I wouldn't mind but I'm not usually duped into buying things I don't need. gutted!!!

Contact Consumer Direct/CAB (they are combined now) via their website and ask them about getting a refund from this lot.  You could also contact Action Fraud and Trading Standards, as all these agencies are probably aware of TAPA/ Nuisance Calls Registry. If you can get a crime number from Action Fraud it will help you with your bank.

Thanks for your information. I called trading standards and they said there is nothing I could do, only look in the terms and conditions to see if I could see anything to get them to refund me. Will check out the rest of your info.
Thanks again, still not heard back from them or received the info from them to tell me what I've paid for.

Nan, nan, nan, nan, nan! Why oh why do you insist on false information being posted?! TAPA and TNCR are 2 different entities, run by 2 different crooks (allegedly) from 2 different addresses (mail forwarding services are a virtual not actual address!). You seem competent enough to advise where to go but not enough to keep a level head and remain fair. Reminds me of the scammers!!

We know 1 is in Staffordshire and 1 is in Carmarthenshire. The websites are completely different in content and structure. TNCR looks as if they don't care people know they are full of [***] and TAPA look like they do. TS says TAPA are of no concern to them yet TNCR seems to be of much more interest.

    Do the maths people.

    TAPA - 0843 289 6037

TNCR - Who Knows? They (unlike TAPA), do not provide any telephone numbers.

So, 2 outfits run by 2 people. I am against both but at the same time I'm also against false information!
