my mother has had a call from 08433270163 today, and was pestered to give her Nat west card number she was worried it really was the bank which is why she stayed on the phone for 20 minutes,result, a bad angina attack......she is 89. I hope they burn in hell, and the post re the couple and woman who is a swinger,may laugh loudly if a member of his family is caused to be ill by these inane morons!........thanks, I needed to get that all said, ifeel a bit better now.

Another annoying company calling.

This number called this morning claiming that Virgin & Halifax have been made to drop credit card charges due to some sort of Financial regulation which I would benefit from.  I pressed 9, the line went silent and I put the phone down.  I'm concerned that I may have been mislead into accepting some charge and others certainly could fall into this trap!  I'm looking through BT website to report this, but no luck so far - will dig further.

Every day - 12:30pm. Next time they are getting the whistle!

i suggest everybody keeps a whistle by the phone and give it a long loud blow whenever they call.

I have been receiving automated messages for a while now. I managed to find this thread from the phone number.

As I understand, Relax Telecom are a telecommunication provider, that hires out phone numbers to their clients. It is these clients who are making the nuisance calls.

I called Relax Telecom, on +44(0)8448 777 900, and told them that I was receiving nuisance calls from one of their numbers. The person is spoke to was pleasant to speak to, and took the details of the call. About 10 minutes later, she called back to say that she had been in contact with their client, and had received assurances that my number would not be called again.

I shall have to wait and see.

I get these calls quite often. I think its quite funny to press 5 so that an operator comes on and says hello. I stay silent and after they say hello, can you hear me a couple of times they hang up.
It is quite satisfying hearing them get the hump as you are wasting their time ;-)

I received a call from this number today and did not answer it no doubt they will try again and again until they completely piss me off.

If i don't recognise a number i'll wait till they hung up because I know if it's an important call, they can leave me a message. What annoys me the most is these people try their luck on elderly people and target them for some scam.

Don't bother answering them - check the number first because by answering you confirm your details.

I get a call from this number every couple of days. I have not answered it, as it is to my fax line. The fax machine just times out after about 30 seconds - nothing is printed.

It's very irritating.

08433270163, Called and asked if I had credit cards dating back prior to April 07 and that for a Solicitors fee, off the credit card they could write off the debt. I hung up and checked the numvber out here.

What's it got to do with BT?  It's not one of their numbers.

The call did not come from Relax Telecom PLC - it came from a company who has purchased a non-geographic number service from Relax Telecom PLC (just like companies who buy their 0844/0845 non-geographic number service from BT are responsible for their ethical practices, not BT).  

Each telco owns certain number prefixes - it's the same for mobile telcos too but it doesn't mean that the telco is responsible for the call being made.

If you still don't get it, imagine a relative of yours, say, a bitter old aunt, was making nuisance calls to you - calling you at all hours of the day and night.  Both you and your aunt subscribe to the services of the same telephone service provider. Who's fault would it be?  The mad aunt or the telephone service provider?  The mad aunt, of course!  It's the same situation here.

And no, I do not work for Relax Telecom PLC but I do work in the telecoms industry.

Relax Telecom supply the use of their 'network' and the 084 revenue generating/share number to your 'lunatic aunt'.

Relax Telecom supply the 'service' in order to receive revenue from the returned calls from the people your aunt is cold calling.

If Relax Telecom want to protect the identity of their lunatic business partner and are willing to take the heat then so be it.

got new phone number since then - 7 weeks - have had constant calls from this number 7 days a week, random times - the only way round it is to unplug my phone, which defeats the object of having one. I am sick and tired of this invasion of privacy by SCAMMERS who have no respect for people's privacy - if I find out who this company is, I am going to give them serious  payback for all the hassle they give me . tried to get them to remove me from their list - they hung up, found later when phone bill arrived I'd been charged for the privilege of being hung up on.

These people are evil and should be stopped.

Strangely, I entered my number on the BT web site when investigating phone packages from them and - lo and behold - a few hours later I get a missed call from 08433270163 even though I am ex-directory.
Do BT pass on your number as soon as you reveal it?
