In the time that I have been checking this discussion (since early Oct 2011), several people have had threats by phone. email or possibly letter. As far as I know they have just been threats and none has been followed by a real court summons. I assume it is because TAPA know that they would lose. Their method does not comply with Distance Selling Regulations. See the ASA judgment for more detail

Update: received an email and letter from TAPA demanding final payment or face court action.
Called them to advise that if taken to court I would use the ASA upheld complaints finding, rules on distance selling and proof of TAPA receiving my cancellation letter. At first, they told me to [***] and hung up.
So, I called back. The same person told me to email them what I had said and that would be the end of it.....we'll wait and see!
Perhaps they now know that there is no point in pursuing this further.
I advise everyone to do the same if in the same situation.

Interesting to see if you do hear from them again. Yesterday I looked at the section of their site which deals with nuisance calls. They do seem to have modified it to avoid confusion with TPS. If I had seen the current wording, I would never have registered with them.

Was your case to do with nuisance calls or the alleged charity scam?

Phil, mine was about nuisance calls.

Missed the small print about their fees and when I tried to cancel, just ended up with threats, threats and more threats.

Glad I found these pages as the other comments helped put my mind at rest - was going to pay until I read the comments above.

I am one of the four that complained to the ASA, thought that would be the last I would hear from them.
Last Monday got a letter saying they were taking court action if I did not pay by the 28th,
I have been in contact with the CAB and Office of fair Trading, they said with the ruling of the ASA I had a very good case in my favour and to contact them telling them this. I think they are just trying it on, to try and make more money. If they take us all to court they will want it to pay there experiences

Have you tried emailing to them the full text of the ASA statement recently provided on this site? I doubt that you will get a real court summons but if you did, the above should help you.

They must of had a copy from the ASA they would of sent them one.
I have sent them a email so they now know I also have one, so don't think they will chance going to court

Yes they will have received one. I just meant that you would make it clear to them that you are fully aware of the ASA adjudication yourself and therefore won't tolerate any bullying from them.

Roy, I told them I would use the ASA ruling and that's when they told me to email them, stating that's what I'm going to do. That was nearly 4 weeks ago after they emailed me saying they would take me to court if I didn't pay. I've heard nothing since.
I reckon / hope that's the end of it.

I think most of you have been scammed and in the long run got what you truly deserved in most of these cases. The totally outlandish claims to assist you with a 'quick fix' to sort out the mess which you could have quite easily been avoided from the very outset  if only most.of you had managed your advertising affairs better. Their offer must have only appealed to lazy, greedy corrupt people. I think if it came to the crunch they would win every case in court regardless of anything. I really hope you all end up with huge court costs for being so terribly gullible.

P.s. stop bleating on everyone and get on with it you have been scammed fair and square, no one likes a whiner.

    Well!

Well! I think the above post sums up the scam pretty nicely. It does indeed reflect badly on the rest of us that we trust others when they sell us offers of help and support, especially when combined with Charity donations made from the proceeds of that trust. Oh no, wait a bit, I think I may have got that the wrong way around.....

Isn't it strange that someone with no interest in the subject of this thread should suddenly pop up spewing bile at people who have been scammed by this company? TAPA temper tantrum, perhaps?

I do have an interest in TAPA, Nan. And this website is a platform to voice your opinions is it not? And I have certainly given you my humblest opinion whether you alll like it or not. You all exposed yourselves to criticism and rebuttal, as soon as you entered on to this forum.  Maybe everyone is too proud to admit they got duped or perhaps some are still in denial. Hoping the Police will gallantly step in and save the day and it'll all be better!.Either way you are mugs and TAPA will fleece you again and again in court. We all live and learn, don't take things so personally, everyone has the right to make a living somehow. It isn't even as if it doesn't really do that much harm anyway, a couple of hundred quid and a few deflated egos. As for that dozy pensioner, he was an idiot anyway, should have been more brainier. You should all grow up actually, some of you sound like you need to be taken down a few pegs!...Come on, I bet most of you wished you'd thought of doing it?. I know I do. It is very good, very clever. It does deserves more credit than you all can admit.

I would point out to Mr Lonsdale the dictionary meaning of the word rebuttal

In law, rebuttal is a form of evidence that is presented to contradict or nullify other evidence that has been presented by an adverse party.

So you should be trying to refute the claims made here not agreeing to them

Firstly you appear to confirm that TAPA is a scam
Then you then go on to say you have an interest in them and by this I presume you mean ‘interest’ in the business sense.
And finally you appear to be proud of and to promote this apparent scam (incredible)

Consequently you seem to be openly admitting to supporting and promoting a suspected scam which under UK law is regarded as a criminal activity
I think action fraud will find this information very interesting so thanks for the confirmation of everyone's suspicions
    Amazing

I wonder if Tim and TAPA are one in the same? looks like they have lost the plot and started flinging there toys out of the pram.Must of hit them in the pocket when they had to change there web site making it harder to mislead anyone, also the ASA ruling has stopped any chance they had at court.
I will agree we were scammed we missed some of the small print, but it looks like Tim and TAPA missed all of the ASA  ruling.

I think you are correct.  If you look back on this thread to the removed posts, these were the same sort of nasty, abusive and threatening posts which appeared when people started to fight back against TAPA  They appeared to come from different people, but the Moderator of this website discovered they all came from the same place, therefore they were removed.  They reached their lowest ebb when they posted the full name and address of someone who had success against them, and said they "had a friend who lived nearby". "Mr Lonsdale" appears to be cut from the same cloth. No doubt he will be back now, spewing more bile.

I won't be making a lot more comments here I've said my peace, and I do not consider it to be bile. And may I thank you all for listening and even in some cases replying to my posts, I assure you I will keep an eye on things here, and your comments will be given the full consideration merited. As to my identity I will allow you to draw your own conclusions. After all most of you here do not fully reveal yourselves, and I don't expect you to after hearing some of the overblown allegations, if indeed they can be deemed as that.
