Thank you Timothy Lonsdale, thank you so much for providing some of the clearest evidence yet as to the true nature of TAPA. Action-fraud have been made aware of these posts.
Anyone coming here to try to get some understanding about them will now have an even clearer picture and even more reason to be very cautious.

You say you feel some people have been scammed and rather than fighting it (whining) they should lie down and pay up while praising TAPA for being such a good SCAM (his own words). If this guy works for TAPA it is almost tantamount to an admission of guilt on their part.
“Could have quite easily been avoided from the very outset” well not according to the ASA ruling which clearly says that the TAPA website could be misleading.
Their offer to presumably to stop charity advertising scams now appeals to ‘the lazy, greedy and corrupt people!!!! I thought the lazy greedy and corrupt people were supposed to be the stop charity advertising scams not the poor people who inadvertently may have been bothered them and TAPA take such pains to say they can protect us from!!
On top of it all he seems to think and English judge is also going to say well done TAPA for being such a good scam and taking in the “gullible” (again Timothy Lonsdale’s own words not mine), give them some sort of medal and damages as well. Incredible if this is the logic of a TAPA supporter or employee god help them. Lastly “you have been scammed fair and square” again a clear admission (according to Timothy Lonsdale) that this is a scam and again a British court would rule for a ‘scam’ rather than the victim of a scam
Even more amazingly in his 2nd post he admits his ‘ an interest in TAPA’ he says people have been ‘duped’ and that ‘tapa will fleece you again’ and then even thinks that tapa would be able to do this in a court of law. He goes on to intimate that TAPA is also a ‘good and clever’ scam!!!
And again to say ‘everyone has the right to make a living somehow’ and ‘It isn't even as if it doesn't really do that much harm anyway’ so to potentially deceive people and to take their money is now an honest way of making a living.
Then he goes on to insult pensioners; don’t forget you will be one day too.

These posts by Timothy Lonsdale are amongst the best evidence yet that TAPA would appear to be scam and would make great evidence in any possible court action so please David keep it coming.

I have copied this page and posts for evidence

The fact that he admires this sort of scam is so sad and just goes to show how low a person can sink if he thinks this is admirable behaviour

You are very welcome, I am very happy to be assisting you in the apprehension of TAPA, although admittedly my posts were not intended to be used for this purpose but presented here as more of a rubbutel as encouraged by the site moderator, but if you are certain the the comments are valuable, and they will be used as evidence. I think that is fantastic. Maybe your appointed solicitor can structure a case together for you based on this material assuming you've sought legal council. They sound amazing if they can. Forgive me if I sound cynical but if this is the best piece of evidence you possess I can unfortunately see your efforts being rather fruitless, but I have no legality credentials, and seems nether do you. Nethertheless If I can be of any further assistance do not hesitate to ask me and I will be delighted to help you in any way I possibly can. But allow me to clarify I stand by my comments and that I would like to see TAPA brought to justice as they are clearly criminals and there operation does interest/fascinate me and I do think they are very clever, and I do not empathise with any of their victims one bit.

Unfortunately LizzieM I cannot reveal how I was directed to this forum. Seeing as you ask and it is becoming mildly amusing to me now. I will divulge this to you. I too have also been making my own enquires in this field for many months, and have established a few quite important answers. Also In fairness  I am privy to more information in this area which I am not prepared to share under any circumstances. I know people will analyse/scrutinise this post and interpret it as hostile and be incensed or even labour some vein sort of misapprehension that it is very important evidence and it crucial I tell all. How intrepidly misguided!. Or even more tasteless label me as a 'TAPA supporter' conspirator etc. Some also really think the Fraud-action squad are going ride into TAPAS office on horseback to a big fanfare of 'Ride of the Valkyries' arresting everyone they happen to come across.  Honestly like myself it seems you all have far too much time on your hands, most of you should stop getting so frustrated and just chalk it down to experience like I too have had to do.

Been scammed by tapa replies to Timothy Lonsdale
    | 2 replies
In my own wierd kind of way I'm tempted to agree with 'Tim Lonsdale' or whoever he is. I told trading standards, action fraud and the police. I did lose lots of sleep over this. It really worried me. Action fraud even said they would send out someone to help me as a victim of crime but they never came out! As much as I hate TAPA and all the other scam advertising companies I now know that trading standards and the other agencies just don't have the time to go after them (or thats how it feels)

Anyway for the people reading this looking for reassurance about it maybe going to court I have a few words for you. Don't worry. Nothing will happen. I've trawled the Internet for days and I have never heard or read of anyone who have gone to court. They threaten but it never happens. Just save all the numbers on your phone and don't answer them, and remember never say the word 'yes' if you do get talking to them. It could be recorded. They usually get you when they ask you your name. Just say 'speaking'. Find out who it is and if mother say it's Patrick McGuire or mr blobby from tapa, hang up.

Good luck peeps. It will all end after about a year!

I think you are right and it is a grave shame, that the organisations appointed to protect you cannot offer any assistance for your unique predicament. Nor present any useful conclusion or practical recourse for you, or the hundreds of other people who have fell victim to this intricate and elaborate confidence trick. Although this website is quite effective in raising awareness to a minority and we all speak very candid towards this matter in a semi anonymous fashion. And in case you didn`t know this is actually an american based site. There is a British version entitled `Who phoned me` or something along them lines. TAPA are already featured there but not yet to this scale. I think TAPA will achieve success in court and I cannot see using this site as being a effective form of defence. Even if they don`t they will still continue to operate. I know what I am about to propose contradicts a little bit of what I say BUT if people where confident enough to come forward, Watchdog starts a new series on Thursday, if I may be so bold may I urge a few people not to be scared to use this program as a platform to bring this to the attention of more and more people, hopefully achieving more than anyone ever could do by using traditional methods ie Court, Trading Standards, police etc. Come forward everyone and speak out!!

I am falling victim to these guys for 2 years ive been paying them, now to only find out this, I have stopped payments, however David Overton is now chasing payment ... Will these guys take me to court, will they win??
Or should I just stop taking calls and advise them that all documents have been sent to WatchDog and Trading Standards?

Read their cancellation rights in the small print. I'm sure that after 2 years you will have the right to give them notice to cancel in writing - it may be 30 days or so, but would save a lot of hassle. If they disagree then go to Consumer Direct first - they will hopefull put you onto Trading Standards who helped me to get rid of them. Good luck!

Just give them your cancellation notice, and warn as many people as you can about them.. If they lied to you initially, normally by claiming you have been a victim of some sort of advertising fraud, then this is fraud and misleading. You have the right to a full refund from them for the last two years worth of money that you have paid to them. Ask for this refund in your cancellation letter, and am sure they'll leave you alone.

    Bogus FPS Calls

FPS (TPS) will not call a subscriber of the service to ask for personal details or payment to complete a registration. If you have registered via the web and have received an e-mail confirmation and clicked on the attached link, that's it! Your number will be registered with the FREE FPS/TPS. We will not contact you again in relation to your registration.

If you do receive a call from someone claiming to be from the FPS/TPS or a sililar sounding organisation, asking for personal information or charging you for this service, please check that it was the FPS/TPS you registered with and not another organisation offering similar services.

If you have recently received a call of this nature, try and obtain as many details as possible and forward these to Scott Flower at scott@dma.org.uk

We will investigate this on your behalf.

Have you noticed that if you Google TPS (thinking you will get the Telephone Preference Service) the first name you get is TPS (Telephone PROTECTION Agency).  If you are not just paying attention you could end up paying for what should be a free service. Surely gthe genuine Telephone Preference Agency should be able to do something sbout this.

Hopefully you are still within 7 working days. Write a letter of cancellation and state in it that you are cancelling within 7 working days in accordance with the "Distance Selling Regulations". Send it by recorded delivery and email the same to them. if they then keep ringing you, don't answer the phone. Your phone provider may be able to block the number for you. Speaking to TAPA is a waste of time and effort.

After 5 months of hearing absolutely nothing from TAPA, I received an e-mail from them threatening me with court action if I don't make a payment within 7 days. They are also sending it by post. It must be the small claims court as they are chasing me for £39.95 which I am not paying, they can take me to court. I am not paying for a service I cancelled, if they were a legitimate company surely I would have had some sort of correspondence from them during the past 5 months instead of being sent a dodgy e-mail? I don't know how they are going to chase me for the money as me and my husband have been posted to Cyprus and we leave next month. Wonder if that will help speed up the court case?
