- HThe ultimate irony.
A company cold-calling to sell you a system to stop annoying cold-calls.
securetelephoneservice dot co dot uk
Salesman advised that TPS does not work - I advised that I had a better system and hung up.- Caller: securetelephoneservice
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Steve| 1 replyYes, it's almost ironic in that this cold call was about stopping cold calls from other companies and that they wanted £15 per quarter or £50 one-off payment. Erm, no.
- Nan replies to SteveGuess what. The only mention of Securetelephoneservice.co.uk on Google is on job sites, looking for telesales reps! Says it all really.
- Lesley Smith| 1 replyThis compnay is ringing offering to prevent nuisance calls. They were adfvised that they were making an unwanted nusiance call.......
- Caller: Dont know
- Call type: Telemarketer

- Caller: Secure phone services
- Call type: Telemarketer
- sabina Blanthorn| 1 replyI have this service,it stopped all the nuisance calls i was getting, how can people be objective to a system that works.Ironic!!!!
- Caller: Air Stewardess
- D Eddy| 1 replywell said sabina,it makes a change to hear good things about a service,i am sick of these calls trying to sell me something,so i will be looking into this type of blocking
- Caller: secure telephone service
- Peter (Macclesfield)This service can do what it says it can,i have now had this service in place for 2 months i,i was getting 4/5 calls daily ,now its down to maybe 1 a week, and thats a result,so i say its a ligitamate company,
- Phil G (Wantage)| 1 replyAgent 076 said Homeguard Security had access to the telemarketing database and could tell I'd had 64 calls recently despite being on the Telephone Preference Service. For a small monthly few they could pretty well eliminate the calls. Even if it isn't a scam what are we coming to? This is a virtual protection racket. I will not subscribe on principle. Google the number and you'll get a webpage with their terms and conditions.
- Caller: Homeguard Security
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Nan replies to Phil G (Wantage)Looks like this is a relatively new scam. They seem to be using two different names. They are obviously getting worried that they have been rumbled judging by the posts from Sabina, D Eddy and Peter. They really ought to know that people who have had a good experience with a company, you do not seek out a website for reporting unknown, unwanted and scam calls just to leave a positive post. The only people who do that are the scammers, trying to make themselves look good. I did not find anything from Googling the number but using the name they are using I got HomeguardS (note the plural) Security which is an alarm company. The only things which can guarantee to stop unwanted landline calls are a call blocking unit or the BT 6500 'phone. Anyone who claims they can get your number removed from calling lists is having a laugh.
- James Coone| 4 repliesI work for Secure Telephone Service, This is a message to all you dumb butts out there, our service works exceptionally well we are not rip off merchants ignore us at your peril, from the far east, 20p per scam silent call adds up pretty quickly our service is 42p per week with a free call blocker that some of you pay £50.00 alone from Amazon £74.99 seems pretty cheap
- Caller: Secure Telephone Service
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Nan replies to James Coone| 1 replyHogwash. "Ignore us at your peril"? Sounds like a threat. Does that mean if people don't buy your scam equipment you will make nuisance calls to them, because that is what it sounds like. There is no way you know what, if any cold calls a person is getting unless you are contributing to them. Apart from anything else, if we can buy a Call Blocker from Amazon or a BT6500 'phone for a good £20 less than you scam offer why would we want to do business with you?
- Unimpressed call receipient replies to NanThe genuine Telephone Preference Service has a list of companies to watch out for their exaggerated claims, and explaining who exactly regulates this kind of thing. http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/news1.html
It includes Secure Telephone Services.
Had a call from these people on Friday, and they do use hard sell tactics, pushing for information, but responding to questions with scary scenarios, and telling me that my employer (a local authority) had acted illegally in selling my details to a list (which is BS).
The longer they talked, the more suspicious it sounded to me.
And I agree with someone else above- would people who were happy with the service even think to look up the number on a site like this - let alone leave a positive review. The positive responses above do seem quite likely to be written by "rip off merchants" who think their potential customers are "dumb butts" ! - Mrs BJust had a call from them and the woman was hateful. She had all my details (address) but was not happy when I pointed out that by ringing me she was breaking TPS guidelines and she said that was her point and that TPS didn't work! She said BT owned TPS and had sold my details on but I am not with BT. When I said I didn't get many nuisance calls now since I opted for the Virgin £3 a month call blocker system (if a caller withholds their number then they cannot get through to me) she wasn't impressed and said she didn't like my attitude and that she was trying to help me and hung up before I could ask her for a price. The TPS has them on their site as an unregulated service http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/news1.html and if you look into their practise then you realise that if you pay them the £75 a year then they delete you from their marketing phone list but there are other lists out there that companies can cold call you from so they don't solve the problem! They are the problem as they were cold calling me in the first place in the knowledge that I am registered with the TPS!!!

- Gilly IsaacThis number has been ringing me up everyday on my landline for weeks. It always rings twice in succession. Needless to say I don't answer it. These people are becoming a blinking nuisance.
- dan replies to James CooneDont know about dumb butts, but how about YOU scam artists. You have cold called my mother, talked her into paying 2 installments of 11.99 and then took 40 quid. You wont answer calls, and have no email contact addy. We are now waiting to see what the FCA, FOS, trading standards and the police have to say about your little scam. He who laughs last.............
- Mr. BojanglesI got scammed!!! Paid them for the service. They were supposed to send me a blocker device. A month later and still waiting for the device. Attempts to call them just end up with an answering service and my calls does not get returned.

- Old-Mother-RileyYou do not mention how you paid. It would be worth following up with your Bank or Credit Card Company to see where your money went and whether charge-back could be done to recover. Earlier postings refer to securetelphoneservices. and also securetelephoneservice. If the correct name can be determined registration details for the Domain might well help.
- M V| 2 repliesCharlotte from Secure Telephone Service telephoned on 08448870608 at 12:31 21/03/14 to say I should buy their cold call blocking service for £1.74 a month. Reason being that the government funded Telephone Preference Service does not work as it is of no priority to bother doing anything about persistent cold calls.
I advised that the number Charlotte had rung was TPS registered. Rather than apologise and end the call, she used it as evidence of how TPS does not work...
She could not see the irony of the situation.- Caller: Secure Telephone Services
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Darth Vader| 1 replyI have a Truecall call blocking box and noticed that Secure Telephone Service (08448870608) have made unsolicited calls to my number eight times between 20/3/14 and 26/3/14. I'm TPS registered and am not sure why companies like this aren't fined heavily and shut down for such blatant disregard of the law.
