Have had several calls from this number when I have been out, no message left on answer machine.  Today I was in and they asked for me by name, said that they had insured us in 2007, absolute crock as we have been with the same house insurance company for many years and never in my name always my husbands.  I said that we had never insured with them and to not call us as we were with TPS and cold calling was illegal, she said she was not cold calling as we had used their services, we have NEVER used their services and I shall report this number to TPS and ask them to do something about it.  Said they were from a retirement service but I was had not retired in 2007 - didn't retire until 2010 so another stupid lie.

Does anyone know who these callers are every time they ring my broadband gets disconnected and when I say hello they hang up without saying anything

I work for insure4retirement and would like to dispel any myths over the company and what they do. For starters Insure4retirement is just the company name it means they specialise in the over 50's so you dont have to be retired to have insurance with them, they also insure anyone over the age of 18.

Secondly when working on the phones all the numbers are controlled by the computer not employees picking up the phone and dialling the number. If the call goes to answer machine the advisor will click answer machine on the screen and the computer will attempt to call back later. Advisors are not allowed to leave messages on answer machines. If the call is silent sometimes this is because the call hasnt quite connected to the advisor give them a chance to speak as sometimes its a bit slow going through the computer.

Advisors are not allowed to lie to potential/current customers, the business is fully authorised and regulated by the FSA which means they listen to the calls to check that everything is compliant. (Unlike advisors in the bank for example who are not recorded and can say whatever they want.)

The data that insure4retirement uses comes from lifestyle surverys, money saving surveys, and other partners like the football pools for example. Only trying to help people get a better deal on house insurance, not to sell double glazed windows or conservatories that you dont need! Also data comes from the price comparison sites they call back to make sure the cover is what you want as the sites are quite misleading at times and this is the main cause when claims are made because the buyer has not spoken to an advisor before buying the policy who is fully trained in house insurance, and isnt clear on what they are insured for.

House insurance can be quite confusing at times. All we try and do is help, there are lack of jobs in this country as it is, so having a job like advising and selling house insurance is not a bad thing. If you own your own home you need insurance as its your main assest so why pay more than you need too. I appreciate it can be annoying recieving lots of calls but its only house insurance so listen to what the advisor has to say, and tell them your not interested if your really not and they have to put it through the computer as not interested and you will stop getting calls.

Strange, because insure4retirement are a home insurance provider.

Clearly you did not listen. It is HOME INSURANCE, not a retirement service. And the only way they would be able to call you is because at some point you have not ticked or unticked the 3rd party marketing box somewhere.. This could be online, postal or even by telephone. It could well be from a company you are already associated with. So sorry but don't be rude to people who are simply doing their jobs and making a living when it's your own fault for not being more careful with your personal details.

insure 4 retirement is an insurance intermedity, they specialise in over 50's home insurance just like saga, rias and castle cover their prices arent that bad and i have found the customer service to be quite good as a customer. the thing with these calls are that you people have ticked or un-ticked a box when filling things out or when you go on the comparison websites it states in the terms and conditions that they can sell your infomation on to third party companies so if you dont want these phone calls stop doing it simples!!!

Received call from this number on 11/01/2012.

Caller was trying to sell me house insurance.

After giving some information to him the line was cut.

I am suspicious that that the information was required for unauthorised purposes.

Just had a call from this number, left no message. Phoned them back, an automated  answer machine gave me all the information I wanted. They are "insure 4 retirement", this is quite a misleading title as they will insure anyone, you don't have to be retired to be insured with them, but they do specialise in insurance for the "over 50's", just like SAGA and other insurance companies. I had a quote from them last year and they beat everyone hands down, had to make a claim during the year, (some pratt(s) had nicked the lead roof of our bay window) and the claim was all sorted in a couple of weeks - quite good really. Anyway, during the message, they give you the option of removing your no. from their database.
Like its been said on here before, if you do any surveys or do any comparison site for insurance, MAKE SURE YOU TICK THE BOXES SAYING THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE CONTACTED BY ANYONE OR THAT YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR INFORMATION SOLD ON.
