haha 'i do not have time for this' but you have time to then google the number and write a message.... Anyway this number has phoned a few times when I've been out, managed to get through to me this morning, were polite enough, said I wasn't interested so they gave me their details in case I ever changed my mind or needed them.

Caller said: "James from Insure for Retirement calling to give you a quote for your Home Insurance"
Me: "I don't accept cold calling"
Them:  "This isn't a cold-call.  You will have received a call from us within the last couple of days"
Me: "I haven't received any calls and I'm not interested in being quoted anyway"
Them: "Who are you insured with"
Me: "I'm not prepared to say"
    ....
    ....
    Them (eventually!) "Ok, goodbye"

Answer is simple - Ask for a call back and that's what you get. It's all computerised not an actual person dialing your phone number so until either you answer the phone and receive a free quote or explain that your interested then it will continue to ring.

It's against calling / data protection policies to leave answer machine messages, calling every 2 hours would not be correct either!

INSURE UR HOME replies to Mr FW
Firstly it was you that put your number into their calling list. The reason the name would have been asked is because this information would be required to remove the information from the system - but hey yo seem to be some kind of expert and know it all, right?

You clearly have no knowledge of the company at all so it seems the only [***] here is that contained in your message.

Probably want to think seriously too about this whole ''junk mail'' situation, sending items in the post clearly have lower cost than employing staff to work full time calling.

The other area you seem to have expert knowledge is the details held, your name and address as supplied to the initiating data source must be held prior to contacting you.

Insure4Retirement is an insurance company specialising in the over 50s however available to insure any person aged 18 or above and definitely not a 'customer matching' service.

At the end of the day if you're contacted by them it's because you've shared your information and agreed an interest in home insurance - possibly aged or near to 50. Its a service provided at no cost to yourself just around 10 - 15 minutes of your time and who knows by the end of it you may just be saving your self some money, you may also discover that by receiving a quote that your currently insurance isn't exactly what you thought it was - The figures, from Direct Line, show that 6.8 million British households are underinsured, with £200bn of home contents at risk in total.

The telephone number 08450451530 is the outbound number of Insure 4 Retirement.

Insure 4 Retirement are a home insurance company specialising for the over 50s, however insurance is available to any person aged 18 or over.

    You're receiving the call because;
    1. They have previously provided you with a quotation for insurance.
    2. You have shared/agreed to share your information (surveys etc).
    3. You have used a comparison website where they have provided the/one of the best prices.
(Using the comparison websites and ticking/unticking marketing boxes will not exclude you from receiving telephone calls - Check T&Cs as it is clearly stated that using the website you agree for future contact)

Being registered with TPS or being ex-directory will not exclude your telephone number from contact, Insure 4 Retirement work in partnership with TPS and are authorised and regulated by FSA, as detailed above you have given permission for contact.

The purpose of the call is to provide a quotation for home insurance which you have indicated will be due for renewal shortly.
    There is no charge to receive the quote and the result is going to be one of the following;
    - You discover you can save some money, clearly positive news
    - You can receive better value for money, again clearly positive news
    - You already have a good deal with your current insurer, again clearly positive news

If you have recently used a comparison website, the chances are the call is to ensure that your quote is providing the cover required and that the best price with all discounts has been offered (Comparison websites are there for 100s of insurance companies - don't take for granted what you see on the computer screen, besides all agents are highly trained in home insurance and may be able to answer any questions)

All calls have a live, fully trained home insurance advisor on the line. A computerised system connects the calls and at times this can be a few seconds slow, if you think there's no one on the line hold and give them a chance to speak. The system dials each number for around 20 seconds (3 or 4 rings) after this it will automatically cut off to redial another time - at least 2 or 3 hours later.
Outbound telephone agents are not allowed to leave recorded messages, answer machines will be registered as an answer machine and as no human contact is made the telephone number will be automatically reset for redialling.

At the start of the call the agent identifies the company name and reason for calling. As such there is no script to the telephone call so you'll receive a personal service with a quote tailored to your needs. There are certain statements and information which much be declared as regulated by financial services authority (FSA). Calls are recorded and regularly checked for compliance purposes so you can be re-assured that you'll receive wholly factual information about any products and services.

Ignoring the phone isn't going to stop Insure 4 Retirement calling, If there is no answer the computerised system will automatically resend the telephone number back into the system. Answer the call and either accept a free quote or ask to be removed from the dialling list - You'll be asked to confirm details before your telephone number can be removed. Lets be honest though, what exactly is there to lose by accepting the quote? There's no cost for the quote and obviously the telephone cost is on Insure 4 Retirement too - At the end (around 10 - 15 minutes) you may be pleasantly surprised with the result.

All calls received from Insure 4 Retirement can be identified by the telephone number 08450451530, by redialling this number you'll hear a recorded message identifying Insure 4 Retirement, existing customers press 1 to discuss policy to remove your number from the system press 2.
If you'd like to receive a quote you can call freephone 0800 2988 707 or of course wait for your return telephone call.

Sounds like you know alot about this particular company -  1st call I have tried to be polite, 2nd call I'm getting stressed and by the 3rd call i'm getting irate with the human on the other end of the line -
There's only so many times that you can say NO , or I'M NOT INTERESTED, or PLEASE STOP CALLING, or I AM NOT MR SMITH OR MRS SMITH. This doesn't stop them calling you back the following day and every day after that. I consider this a form of harassment. Please answer me this: If I ticked a certain box giving this or another company permission to call me, then fine they called, I've said NO. So where & when do they draw the line and actually STOP CALLING?

These so -called callers (led to believe from scamming for custom) called today did not leave a message as my TRUE CALL machine stopped them dead in their tracks.

If by previous calls they are not a genuine company as they DO NOT supply a name that can be tracked PLUS having worked at the Home Office you can ask them - if you let them - for their company's registration number at companies house London - if genuine you can check - else tell them you are not interested and not to call back else you will be taking them to court for £50K for annoying you if they persist!

Telephone companies do nothing they are just happy to take the money for any calls, Telephone preference (TPS) are a waste of time as well as the Police who do nothing as well!

Okay not a cheap machine is the TRUE CALL but has reduced calls from three to seven a day to practically nothing - one every week now. It allows you to decide who to accept (see their web-site for demonstration) and then can be blocked - ONLY TRUE genuine calls get through.

As above you can pay to stop these calls but NOTHING much gets done until this unit was brought into action

I  found that the company is Insure4Retirement by entering the 0845 no on Justsaynoto0870 website. If you want to phone them there is the following freephone no to use i.e. 0800 2988707. They have just started phoning me and usually don't answer but I have spoken to a man once and when I said I was just about to go out he said it wouldn't take long to give me a quote for home insurance. He said he would phone back next day but unfortunately I forgot !!!. Needless to say they are still phoning and not answering.

If you have the correct company and telephone number you can dial 1471 choose option 3 to redial the company and listen to the recorded message.

It is highly unlikely that all calls are received from Insure 4 Retirement as industry regulation ensures that professional and calibrated systems are used to prevent such things happening, trust me these things are in place.

Industry regulations also mean that by you clearly expressing that you do not wish to be contacted will ensure that the number is removed from the system - ''Please remove my details from your database, not to contact me again''

Don't forget if you have somehow managed to be connected with Insure 4 Retirement multiple times the chances are you're with a new staff member who will not be aware that this is now actually call 2 or 3 becoming irate is just upsetting the staff member who is attempting to do their job.

Industry regulations are in place to ensure that a contact number is left for you to respond to.

Call it and you'll receive a recorded message detailing the purpse of the call with the option to remove your number from the database - again part of industry regulations.

    Be sensible!

How on earth can it be possible for two companies share the same phone number?

You must have dialled the wrong number.

Oh and the retirement service is actually Home Insurance.

The telephone number left is done so as it is required by industry regulations, since it is only a telephone number providing a recorded message it is not there for getting money.
