Caslled me today - again, left no message and didn't speak.  Called them back to check who they were - Insure4Retirement, so called on their free number 0800 29 88 707 to complain.  Said they would take off their list - we'll see!

The caller did not identify themselves, just wanted to sell us home insurance.
The ID was 08450451530, and on calling it back to complain, just got a recorded message stating that they are "Insure for Retirement".
As my wife retired just 2 weeks previously, I'm wondering how they got our details.

silent phone calls,I'm so sick of these ....an invasion of privicy , there should be a law against companies who use these type of sales practices.

    MR FW
It's "retirement insurance" and I got a recorded message to that effect telling me "Sorry we missed you earlier" not that I noticed them having contacted me in the past.

When will parliament pass a law outlawing unrequested calls?

I called Insure4Retirement and told them to get my number off their list.  The girl at the other end wanted to know my name " for data protection purposes" to which I replied that they only needed the phone number and it would be easily found in their database. (don't let them bulls**t you... I am ex directory and the knowledge of my name would have given them the potential for sending junk mail that I wouldn't have known the origin of as they aren't an insurance company, just a website matching customers to insurance providers)  I raised my voice and said "You are building yourselves quite a reputation on the internet for being a nuisance phone calls generator".  To which she finally agreed to remove my number from their list.  You see.  They didn't need my name after all.  It's about time Brits stopped being so trusting.  This British trust and tolerance has opened the floodgates to sneaky operators of the ilk of Insure4Retirement and others.  Fight back!

Those [***] called again today despite having agreed to delete my number from their list (see posting three up from here)  I will try Offcom as suggested by a posting on 28 June (page 3 of this thread).

Silent calls from this number. We are registered with the TPS but it seems this company either is not or chooses not to abide by their rules. Nuisance callers.

I am receiving calls from this number repeatedly only to be told "The other person has cleared". I rang the free phone number above 08002988707 and said as we had call preference I wanted my number removed from their database. I was told I would have to give details such as my postcode for them to be able to do this. I explained that I did not want them to have these details and as they already have my number, that should be enough - it is for every other company! I am going to follow Mr FW's lead & contact ofcom and watchdog.

Had a call from this number asking for my mother; as she died in 2007 they were disappointed. At least they're presenting CLID unlike ****ing Vonage who have been pestering me for the last month.
