I knew it was coming because I tried to book a holiday and entered my name incorrectly so it was declined. It was quite a large amount that it must have raised alarmed bells. I still researched the number before calling just to make sure. Doesn't do any harm to check just in case.- Caller: Barclays
- peterNumber is Legit, so even if you don't trust this number - GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR BANK! it is barclays fraud prevention line
found out someone used my card in malaysia What a shock!- Caller: barclays fraud prevention line
- DanielWJust purchased two bus tickets online for my upcoming holiday in UKRAINE. Within 10 minutes I got an answerphone message from Barclays and called them back.
It's an automated service that doesn't ask for passwords or account details, they just wanted to confirm my transactions.
Yes, it's a legit number (Barclays) and I am pleased that they are taking pro-active steps to protect my account. Only took a few minutes to listen to the automated message and confirm I made the transactions.- Caller: Barclays
- MikeI agree it isn't exactly reassuring that the call is automated but DO call them back immediately if you receive a call from this number..turns out my card details have been stolen and someone has tried to make several transactions today, some successful some not. I asked them to block my card, then started to worry the call may be a scam. I rang Barclays who confirmed it was them and they had blocked my card. If I hadn't called them back who knows how many more bogus transactions would've been made!

- pinkieI joined this site as I was so disturbed at fraudsters on here pretending 0845 351 2262 was anything other than a scam. Barclays and Barclaycard confirmed this is a false number. They advise that no official body will ever ask for your details over the phone, if they are worried about fraud, they send you a letter. I hope no one on here gets taken in by this, you could end up thousands of pounds poorer.
- pinkie| 1 replyBarclays and Barclaycard have confirmed this is a fraudulent number used for the sole purposes of stealing from those who call them. Please stop posting comments from people saying this number is legitimate, you are facilitating fraud.

- TomIt is a Barclays number. Very silly to include a number on their messages that you cannot validate on their website...
- Caller: Barclays
- Alison fairbairnI received an automated phoncall from this number. Totally legit.
- Wesley MeadIt's legit. It leads to an automated system where you confirm your birth month (from one of four options listed) and then reads back five recent transactions that you have to confirm were legitimate. (It also says whether Barclays declined or accepted them).
- Caller: Barclays
- Wesley Mead replies to pinkiePinky, this is not a fake number. Barclays have confirmed to me it is legitimate, and you can find many other concurring, both on here and on whocallsme.com. They do not ask for any personal information and have information on transactions that only your bank could have (eg transactions that don't yet show up in Online Banking). They phone and text my landline and mobile - I never give out my landline except to my bank and utility companies.
- Frankie =)This number started calling me today (on both home and mobile numbers so it seemed urgent) after I tried to pay my phone bill and it declined even though there was plenty of money in the bank. I called back and it all seemed legit. It just asks you to confirm your date of birth by using the keypad and doesn't ask for any bank details. It is fully automated and it just asks you to press 1 to confirm that you made the transactions it reads out. All done and has stopped callling me now. It had all the info correct and im not being fraudstered! yay!
- Caller: Barclays Fraud Squad
- tttooooeeeGot this message too.
This automated voice message turned out to be legitimate, but I'd always call the number advertised on the website anyway.- Caller: Barclays PLC
- Davie BCan confirm this is a legitimate number and IS Barclays Fraud Dept. It's automated and asks you to confirm details, NOT give details. It will then ask you if the last 5 transactions were by you.
I got a TEXT message asking me to call 0845 351 2262 about 30 seconds after the automated phone message too.
Quite painless, but a little off putting. I prefer the days where they would call you directly.- Caller: Barclays Fraud Department
- DerekI received an automated call on my home number about an account with a name of someone who does not live at this address. This is either a mistake, the wrong phone number has been recorded for the account or maybe someone has given a false phone number for their account
- Caller: Barclays Fraud Deportment
- Howie replies to bobI got a call from this number and called it back. It must be genuine as they knew about a number of transactions that I had made in different parts of the country with my card.
- JanThis is a genuine Barclays Fraud Department number. I have had several dealings with Barclays Fraud over the last few days and have come to the conclusion that some of their operators do not know what numbers are genuine and what are not. I would suggest the best way to find out if you are at all suspicious, as I was, go onto their official web site and check there, as they have most contact numbers listed.

- MeganJust received a call from 08453512291 claiming to be Barclays Fraud dept and asking me to call 08453512262. Then I called the telephone banking number on my card, and they told me it was a genuine number and I was called because the Fraud dept had detected some suspicious transaction. I asked them to check and turned out to be an unsuccessful transaction:)
Just wondering why they want us to call a number not even shown on their website... - sb replies to JulzYour Wrong. this number is easily verified in the Barclays site and it is done when there is activity out of the ordinary to your usual use. they confirm that you made the recent payments on your card.
It is a genuine number
