    Nightmare company.
Claiming we took out an advert with them and insist on sending reminder emails with their bank details.
We explained that after doing a credit check on them we would never do business with them and had never requested to.
The company seems to have many complaints made against it on the internet. The listed address is also used for lots of other businesses so i assume its was included in the price when they set up the company - Community Publishing, which seems to be dissolved at componies house. An office address has not been offered.
They would not respond to any of our calls or emails until we informed them we were making a complaint with trading standards. Which we have. We have now started recieving odd rude emails from a Mr Wilson.
We have offered all our information to trading standards and Law inforcement.
    Not impresses with their attitude.
Be very careful if this company start trying to sell you advertising.

I only fell for the Crime & Security Journal scam because 10 minutes before their call I fell for a NHS Online one (for which I paid "extra £50 to be available to Police and Emergency Services, as well as the public sector"). When they guy introduced himself as someone from police, I thought that it's connected to the NHS Online database.

If it wasn't for a friend who warned me about the scam, I'd send a cheque straight away.

I felt like such an idiot! I'm glad it's more of us fighting these people...

Seems they only call from 07511286473 but want you to call their other number which is 08454672425.
They have never picked up the phone to 4 of my calls.
Say we owe them money for advertising we never agreed to.
Abusive, brash and intimidating on phone when you explain you dont want to do business with them.
Many other complaints listed on here under the number 08454672425.
Never respond to my requests for info via email.
So far i have had money request emails from Rachel, Ryan and a John Wilson.
Now we have made a complaint they claim they are not at liberty to disclose any further information about their contact details or physical address.
We have had emails from Support  which is actually tickets@crimesecurity.co.uk and also info@crimesecurity.co.uk.
We have reported them to trading standards.

They just rang me and I'm happy to have found this page whilst on the phone to the salesman.  I asked him a couple of questions prompted by the previous posts, which he had well prepared answers for.  I said (literally) "Thanks, but I'm going to give it miss this time," to which the salesman replied "Yeah I thought so, you prick, goodbye!" then hung up!  Yes, he actually said that!!  AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Someone with (John Martin - something... ambulance service) called me today and left me a message to call back on 07788 573925. It sounded like a professional guy who was looking for some life coaches to help the police and nhs staff to reduce stress levels, because a "survey" shows that their stress levels increased in the last year. I called him back and he was going through the details. I would need to pay for some kind of leaflets they publish (its such a grey area), they will call me back tomorrow, but he knows my address, email, website... A bit worrying. I will not pay a penny for anything, thats for sure. But thanks, I've got something out of this... :-)

    OMG!!!

I cant believe this is a scam and I've nearly gone for it. Thank god my friend who was going to pay for the advert felt really dubious about the stuff they sent through, wanting payment by cash cheque or bacs into their bank account!

It's only because of them that I started to search around and found this and another forum listing.

I'm usually quite good at spotting scams but when you're a new business and getting clients is the most important thing then any advertising that's as good as these guys claim it would be is tempting

    DON'T DO IT!!!

    Numbers I was called on were 07593089407 & 07775151175

Also going to be reporting it to local trading standards office

Sorry listed it as prank call in last post as that's what they are

I just fell for the scam myself. I accepted the offer and was sent all the paperwork and stuff. Thankfully I decided to do some digging before I paid and came across this thread. Just sent them an email telling them I would like to cancel my order. My guess is, since it was a week ago that I had the original phone call they're going to make it pretty hard to cancel.Glad I've not paid!
Just hope this doesn't turn into a massive barny as I don't have it in me to deal with this at present.
Any ideas on what I can say that will shoot them down and end this quickly?

Hi Vicky, if you look at some of my advice i originally wrote a few months ago, on page 1 of this forum, i have listed some things you can say or ask them,
just let them know u have spoken to trading standards, you know they are not gunuine, and they are not getting a penny out of you.
They will give you some verbal abuse, but that will be all, then just ignore anything and everything they do. nothing will come of it,

    HOPE THIS HELPS

Just found this thread, just before I was about to fork out some money for an advert in their publication.

Can't believe I was stupid enough to even fall for 'bull' on the phone let alone be taken in by the crummy website with no contact details on it.

Have emailed cancelling but had no response.

    Hi Gem,
Thank you very much. Just had an email telling me that I am unable to cancel as I had agreed on the phone that I was waiving my right to cancel and they attached the recording, which was actually just a beeping noise with no voices! I shall be replying with your info thanks.

Have got caught up in a very aggressive exchange with these people.  They cold called me on the mobile and then sent me terrible copy.  I told them I wasn't happy with it and did not want to advertise with them.  They have been aggressively chasing me for money ever since.  I have told Trading Standards and written time a letter re Goods & Services Act.

Don't know how to get them to leave me alone.  Currently threatening me with a collection agency.  Anyone got any tips on how to get them to go away?

Sorry to hear you're having hassles. I think they're about to start on me too. Just had an email telling me as I am late paying they're adding £40 to the bill.
I've told them until they can provide me with proof the publication will go ahead I won't be corresponding with them and certainly not paying the bill. They're saying that I cannot add stipulations to the contract by asking them to provide the proof. Tsk whatever, you want your money then you prove to me your legit. Then I will pay.
It's gotten me rather annoyed and unfortunately for them when I'm backed into a corner I fight. They picked on the wrong victim.
I suggest you contact your local police force and explain what's happened. I did yesterday and have been given a crime number.

Took a call from John Martin on 07788 573925 claiming to be of the Emergency Services Journal, I've only just gone public with entries in the online directories Counselling Directory and It's time to talk (find a therapist), looking forward to the first call (and consequently vulnerable) and it was from this scammer! The journal does not exist. He gave a long talk about efforts to reduce levels of stress, anxiety and trauma in the emergency services and offered advertising space. On expressing interest he told me that details would be handed to their design studio who would call me - call duly received and on my hesitation I was told that proceeding would constitute an order, which I happily I did not feel ready to do as I've since discovered it's an ugly scam!

Wish I had found this site earlier! I have agreed to advertising in the Crime and Security journal, a 1/4 page advert for £195 + vat. I agreed then literally 2 mins later the designer phoned and did the recorded telephone conversation. 5 mins after the phone call I left a voicemail for the initial person I spoke with and emailed the company to say I wanted to cancel. After 40mins I received the 'design' of the advert which must've taken 3 mins to make literally. I replied to this email saying I had already cancelled. I later received an email from a designer and there was a telephone number on it so I called and was told I could not cancel on the telephone and she would pass my message on to the original person I spoke with. He phones and wasn't happy I was cancelling then hung up on me. I then get 3 emails saying I couldn't cancel as per recorded message enclosed. Have phoned the Advertising Protection Agency who are aware of this scam and they say the bogus company will keep sending you invoices and sell your details on even if you pay and if you don't the bogus company will take you to court but escalate the invoice as they start charging you late fees.
Going to try and get legal advice tomorrow to see what they say. Lesson learnt but any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Also, just cancelled after googling the company and seeing this dialogue.  Will await and ignore their replies, but pleased to know I have some backup from this discussion.  Very annoyed I gave them my address and didn't twig.  Felt too flattered to be "chosen"!
