Just discovered that I was 'done' in January and paid £135 for an advert in the non-existent Community Safety Journal. Caller JOHN MARTIN  07788 573925 (still being answered up until late May 2012). He sounded very pleasant, professional and knowledgable about emergency service  needs. 'Publishing company' - Media Windows (as in other comments) sent me a proof and all seemed professional. Only got suspicious when I didn't receive promised copies of the quarterly publication with my ad in it! Also got calls from Michael Bridges of the 'Fire Service' claiming I'd agreed to advertise with him too - he hung up immediately he realised I wasn't going to do this but was disorganised enough to ring me twice (number withheld).
Will try reporting to Trading Standards etc but lesson learned.....

They are scumbag scammers, conned several local companies including ourselves out of hundreds of pounds. They claim to be police or firebrigade, abused childrens charity and many others they care to impersonate.  They said they do a magazine Crime and Security Journal and will give you an ad.  The police and trading standards confirm its a scam and you dont get your money back even though they have a genuine Lloyds TSB account ...Community Publishing...sort code 30-15-52....Acc number 33953268 AND a vat number of 118 9312 12

We have been stung with exact same thing word for word, excepet I have the mobile numbers used 07785469076 also 01933698538 which is a claims company...They also said Fire brigade on .07598491582  We also paid then discovered its a scam, Found out a lot of big names and small business also scammed in Strathclyde.  They have a genuine Lloyds TSB account 33953268 and a vat number 118 9312 12 yet trading standards AND police say they cant do anything as in past experience they spend money tracking them and taking them to court and just before court date they go out of business only to reopen next day under different names..JOKE....DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY

Contact Trading Standards as they ARE scammers.  Im sure any judge worth their salt would kick this out of court especially if you show him copies fromthis site and the others.  And if it does go to court could you let the judge know that their are hundreds off us who have been scammed by these impersonators as last i heard it was against the law to impersonate a police officer or ambulance of fire officer and the many other impersonations they have used to us over the phone. ANd tell the judge WE want our money back and also wish to sue these bums.  Good luck

I have read that Identity Protect Limited t/a Identity Protection Service, PO Box 795, Godalming, Surrey. GU7 9GA is a scam operation that registers lots of the scam artists' sites who wish to conceal their true identity from us and the cursory glance of the under-resourced trading standards officer.

Some of these data criminals are complained about on whocallsme. Identity Protect Limited run their own servers with Webfusion, and are linked to crime networks in Germany, London, Manchester , Liverpool and the Midlands.

You will see lots of postings on here telling you NOT complain to the ICO & TPS because they are "useless". Ignore them. Two of the syndicate were recently fined £440,000 by the ICO because of our complaints and this cost the crime syndicate introducer fees.

I only checked as I thought it strange they rang off a mobile!
Sent them a text saying 'I know you're a scam, do not call again', received no reply.
