I to recieved this phone call and was quite worried as i signed up and paid however the equipment didn't arrive i have been checking this website to identify if i have been scammed however all of the proper equipment and documents came via royal mail yesterday, i have now set the box up and have yet to recieve a cold call which is a good sign as usually i get 12 a day so it seems to have worked out for me

I had a call earlier from an Indian accented man saying his name is Mark Parker. His accent wsa so strong I could hardly understand.  He quoted my name and address at me. I told him I didnt get many calls so he started going on about junk mail.
he kept saying " so we will put this in the post to you , right ?". I kept pausing to keep him on the line whilst I googled the number. He was very insistent about sending it.  I gave no affirmative throughout the conversation.
Then I told him I did not believe his name was Mark Parker
He said " but we are working with telephone preference service".
the minute he started talking to me about money I told him not to send me anything, not to call me again , to remove all my details from his database and  I said goodbye.
this week I have received lots of hang up calls. I suspect its them, call you first all week and hang up and then call you with a device you buy to stop the calls.

Never give your credit card details to anyone you do not know over the phone. EVER.
Call back if you are interested.  AS all others the number was not known when I 1471'd.

got a call from the "call prevention service" who allegedly "work alongside TPS". As usual , for £1.90 pcm, they would supply a box, etc and block nuisance calls.
The tel no was shown as "unknown" on my phone display, when I queried this with them, they were unable to give a satisfactory answer.
They gave me  0845 474 9636 as customer services.

Just got a call from this number.They said they were C.P.S. and backed by the government. They had been aware of a high volume of unsolicited calls in my postcode area and intend to block such calls including from India and the Philipines. Asked me to confirm my address and said that they will send a gadget to put on my telephone line. I could barely get a word in edgeways because she (Gaynor) was gabbling on with the pitch. Immediately a gadget to attach to my telephone line was mentioned I interrupted and asked "at what cost", "barely a pound a week" she replied. I retorted that I am not paying for anything and she rang off.  Its bad enough getting the many unsolicited calls a day that we get anyway, but this one just about takes the biscuit. Its time some these people were taken to court and fined heavily. My telephone is for my convenience, answering it is becoming an absolute nightmare, needless to say we are registered with T.P.S. but they can't seem to do anything.

My husband had a call yesterday from these people they knew our pass word for our phone company i dont how they got it we declined the offer but can see how some people can be conned.

People called Martin and Dean from this tel no called and managed to get my 81 yr old mother to divulge her bank details and password,  then debited her account for 76 pounds for a box to stop calls,   I have seen comments to say some have the box and it works   well great but no company can call itself reputable if they have to pressure an elderley person to divulge personal details like the above.    I would not trust these people

I was told it was a number to stop nusinace calls. Got very suspicious when they had my name. Phone number but address wrong.

Got a call from Vicky at CPS offering me an uprated unwanted call blocking service. Initially I thought they said TPS so I asked again to confirm and they make out they are part of the same service.
When you get to the nitty gritty they want £79.99 for a 3 year service and they will supply a box to plug in to your phone line to stop unwanted calls. When I asked for a web address so I could verify they weren't trying to scam me they hung up.
The box they offer is a Stopbox which is available from other suppliers for a fraction of this cost. BT also offer phones that do the same thing.
The phone number is registered to a private address in Bournemouth.
DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY CARD OR BANK DETAILS - IT IS A CON

I have just received a call from "Emil" stating that he was from the Call Prevention Service, which he abbreviated to "CPS" stating that he understood that we had been receiving a number of nuisance marketing and sales calls.  I agreed that we had had a few (who hasn't?) but that we had not put in a complaint.  On hearing this I was told that complaints had come in from households within our postcode and that as our postcode had received a number of unwanted sales/marketing calls above the 'legal norm', the CPS was working on our postcode throughout this week.  I was told that we would receive a 'CPS procall blocker' which, when 'plugged in' would operate a filtering system stopping nuisance calls.  I was then told that the cost would be £79.99 for 3 years and asked for a password.  I said that I was in the middle of something right now and would call back.  At this point, "Emil" told me that the registration was complete - all I needed to do was provide a password.  As this whole scenario had 'scam' all over it, I told "Emil" that I would need to discuss it with the rest of the family.   Needless to say, I will not be calling back ...

Good for you.  However, they will probably ring back as they have not, I presume, got your bank or card details. They are, indeed, a scam  and the positive posts are from the company trying to make it look legit.  Firstly it chose its company name so that it could use the acronym CPS.  That means that the elderly, who may not hear very well, will think it is the free TPS service.  Secondly, there is no way anyone knows how many, if any, cold calls any household is getting.  They only know about cold calls they themselves have made, using silent or hang up calls, to prepare people for their final sales call. Thirdly you can buy a CPR Call Blocker from Amazon or Argos for under £50 (don't buy from CPR as they will sneak an annual fee into the cost) or the BT6500 'phone for about the same.  Both these items work.  There is also the Truecall unit which works very well but is rather expensive.

I think they've changed their name to 'Nuisance Aware Ltd'. Same address, same thing, different name.

Just had a call from some joker, who gave the name Matthew Scott of The Call Prevention Service. Although it came up as PRIVTE CALLER, he verbally gave the telephone umber 08454749636 to contact him on. He's saying they have contact details from TPS and will send out equipment to stop nuisance calls. Then he mentions the payment will still be £1.99 a month. Told him I wasn't paying anything to TPS and didn't want anything from him. I've reported call to TPS.
So watch out don't be taken in !

I was telephoned by Jim, from the call prevention registry, today who told me I was already subscribed to there service and as we had been receiving an usual amount of unsolicited calls would be reducing my monthly payments from £4 down to £2 and would also be sending out a box to plug into the back of my phone to block all calls he needed confirmation of my card used to purchase the service and gave me the first few digits correctly and asked for 3 digit number on the back. i was then contacted by a Mathew Scott who gave me his number as 08454749636 ext 236. i had a very uneasy feeling so did 1471 and last number dialled was01202-610497. Have I been scammed?????

Did your mother never tell you it is naughty to tell lies?

Had you already subscribed to their service?  Were you aware that the Call Prevention Registry is on the "watch list" at TPS  as a company which falsely pretends to be authorised by TPS? Did you know that you can buy a Call Blocker for under £50 from Argos or Amazon?  Did you known you can buy a BT6500 Call Blocking 'phone for under £50?  You have just given your card details tosomeone you don't know for a service you don;'t need at a price which is more than it should be?  Do you think you have been scammed??

Had you already subscribed to that services as they claimed?       If so why did they need a payment method if you were already paying?          Your own response to questions like that will lead you to the right conclusion, but the fact that you are posting on here means that you probably know already.      If you believe you have been scammed based on an untruth have a word with action fraud.
