- Heather replies to Iceman| 1 replyJust received a call from this outfit. Your research is very useful. I didn't sign up as I smelled a rat when they asked me for a password over the phone. Heavy-handed customer service when I said I 'wanted to think about it' they replied 'why hasn't it been clear what I've told you?!'
- C J M-R| 1 replyI am 92 and I have no recollection of the call but presumably because this company has persuaded me to give it my debit card details I am told £59.99 has been taken from my bank account by Call Prevention Service Bournemouth of 0845 474 9636.

- LizI too have had a phone call today from someone called Josh of the Call Prevention Service trying to sell me a pro call blocker for £1.99 per month over 3 years but the phone no he gave me was 0845 129 7936, he emphasised the number and when l rang 1471 it was the same. I did't give him my bank details, told him to ring back Monday to speak to my husband in order to give me time to check it out. Relieved l did. They obviously change phone numbers to keep getting away with it. I will be ringing the TPS and Trading Standards.

- Another conned replies to IcemanI have being trying to get my money back from this company since January, can you tell me who you spoke to that finally got your money refunded
- KismetI received a call saying they would send me a box which would stop nuisance calls after 28 days. I'm demented with these cold call marketing and silent calls so when he said the box would cost me £1.99 a month for 3 years then it would be mine I was happy to proceed. I'm socked to find they have taken £79.99 from my bank account. I will speak to my bank in the morning in the hope they can reclaim it from them.

- SueH| 1 replyJust received a call from 'Brad' at CPS offering to send me a box which would stop unwarnted cold calls as there had apparently been a lot in my postcode. He said I would be put on the Do Not Call Register until May 2015 and could have the box for the special price of 49.99 (reduced rate for women, senior citizens and widowers ). He asked me for a password and I said the first unusual colour I could think of which was apricot - he had difficulty spelling this and pronouncing it - he had quite a strong Indian accent. I guessed it was a scam but couldn't see the point of the password?? He then put me onto his supervisor 'Mike" who gave me more sales talk and then said he would need to take my bank details. I said I wasn't going to give my bank details to just anybody who rang me up, and he suggested I look on their website www.realcommbox.com to assure myself they are genuine. It is worrying how easily vulnerable people could be fooled by this scam.

- AlsutMy dads just been scammed by this, i'm so pissed off with him, is there anything we can do to reverse it?
- GillianJust had a call from a foreign gentleman called Richard stating he was from CPS and for as little as £1.90 he could stop the nuisance calls, told him I wasnt interested and he got quite aggressive, I then read the comments on here! Yet another scam happening. Just wonder how many people they will manage to scam!

- befuddled| 1 replyThey are obviously obtaining information from somewhere illegal. i would suggest that you report them to the police for offences relating to the data protection act.
For those wanting there money back and getting the run around i would suggest you take them to the county court.
it costs about £25.00 ( could be more now) which if you win you get back. i doubt they would turn up in court and if they did then they would have to explain all there tactics for refusing to supply correct goods or accept back faulty goods.
i would suggest that if they do phone then put the phone on the side and check it in half an hour, i think they will get the message by getting no sales. My brother tells them he will be reporting them to the police as his details where stolen and the police need to speak to possible recipients and asks them for their details they normally panic and hang up?- Caller: Caller prevention service

- stewing replies to MacyHi,
The company is called the Call Prevention Service based near Bournemouth.
They will try to sell you an electronic box that will stop unwanted calls, they will also try and catch you for annual fee of £50.
Beware it is a scam!! - DC BriscoeI had a call from these people this morning. They claimed to be from the government & wanted me to choose a pin word to allow access to my service. The new scam is that they will sell you a call-blocking device -- £79.99 or £59.99 if you are a pensioner! I spoke to two people, a girl whose name I didn't get, and a man named Neil Parker. I played coy & said I wanted to think about it before I paid any money. I was given the 0845-834 1125 as the Customer Service number. They are supposed to ring me again tomorrow morning. I will report further if they do.

Just received a call from CPS 0845 129736. Very convincing, had my name, stated that as I have been receiving a high volume of unsolicited phone calls they could provide a blocking devise. I have also very recently checked my registration with the TPS due to a genuine high amount of dropped calls etc. They called themselves a 'not for profit organisation' and definitely wanted to confuse me with their association with TPS. However once they pushed the £1.90 a month for 3 years I became suspicious and pointed out that this was an unsolicited sales call the woman-Michelle-sounded foreign- hung up.- Caller: CPS

- Marmy| 1 replyMy parents were caught out in the same way last year by Call Prevention Service. We returned the box Registered post within the stated time and sent a follow-up letter has hadn't had a reply. Someone from the company called saying the box hadn't been received but money would be refunded. It was never received! Since then they recently received a bullying phone call from the company who wanted £90.00 this time and bank details, which weren't handed over. The caller gave a telephone number which appears to be a fax number. His mobile number was picked up from 1471 but the mobile always goes into voicemail. If you get caught out, inform your bank immediately, who gave us good advice.

- Phill replies to MarmyMy wife received a very convincing call from Call Prevention Service today which she passed to me . The guy explained how we had been paying £4 a month for a call blocking service, but this was going to be reduced to £1.90 , and a lot of new services would be provided to block calls via a "call blocker" which he would send to me. But he wanted to update the Card details he had , that's when I became suspicious. I checked the phone bill and said we weren't paying £4 a month, he said most people weren't aware they were paying (!). Very plausible, and even after the call I had to look up Call Prevention Service to check if it was a scam . Phone number used was 0845 675679.
Hopefully "Call Prevention Service scam" will be picked up on google searches. - Will M| 1 replyMy 86 year-old grandma got scammed by these people recently (past two weeks or so). They advertised themselves as being a company who sold a box that blocked sales calls- ideal for her as she receives them regularly; she thought it was legitimate and so bought a box from them. It arrived, she didn't know how to use it, couldn't fit it herself (turns out we can't either, it's totally incompatible) and thought wise to ask my mum to help organise a refund. Needless to say, my mum called them up, got put on an automated answer 'you're on hold' type thing for about 20 minutes. Three attempts later, still nothing; I found this site a couple of minutes after searching and evidently we're not alone with these problems.
I find it infuriating how they leeched so much money out of my gran, and she's probably not the only naive pensioner this has happened to. Hopefully we'll be able to sort a refund out and be done with this nonsense.- Caller: real comm box
- BUBBLES1| 1 replyGot called by "Call Prevention Service" today saying I had registered with them last year and they wanted to offer me a great deal where all calls would be barred, including international calls, forever!! The cost of this would be just shy of £90. When I said I couldn't afford it they said I could pay in two installments. They said they wanted to update the card details they held which they have got hold of from somewhere - needless to say card has been cancelled.
