- ColinWhy are people posting things like 'this number keeps calling me and i don't know who they are'. Why not read the thread!
Same with the people saying 'its called me 10 times today', well answer it, its only a text and doesn't cost you anything! - Lindathis number is a txt to voice service run by BT. Its calls and calls until you answer your phone and deal with the msg a person has txted to your landline phone. U can opt out totally or change the times you recieve calls from this by dialling 0800 5875252, see further details on www.fixedtext.com. Anyone can txt you on this service, but it is widely used by debt companies and such who call you often and dont get a reply from you. ive also had ones where friends have got a recently new mobile, and txted me on my landline by mistake. A big tip is if u get a call from this call it bk, and stop the calls all day but have a pen and paper handy ready to write stuff down. all ull end up calling 2 or 3 times to catch whats said lol.

- Someone out thereI received a call from this service today. It is an SMS forwarding service. In my case it was Asda. There was a problem with my home delivery. I called the number in the 'text message' but, still not convinced it was legit, I called Asda customer services and they knew all about it, thereby confirming that it was not a scam.
I guess this service could be used in a scam though. It depends who the text is from. - Info guyJust an update on this number, It is the BT SMS text service it rings you and read an SMS text that has been sent to your landline. It not great but....
- Carlos FandangoThis is fine - just call the number! - mine was from Woolworths to say my Nintendo Wii was ready for collection. If you dont call it you dont know !

If you receive spoken text messages but don't have an answer phone or answering service, just call Text store on 0845 602 1111 to pick up messages. Please note that messages are only saved here for 24 hours. - AllanI've been repeatedly being called from this number throughout yesterday evening and again at about hourly intervals through this morning.
- Frank C.Receiving calls from this number could be genuine as we have read in above comments, perhaps a shop or supermarket are confirming delivery times etc, but once you have answered and heard your message these calls should then stop. However, we have read about many, many calls received within a short period even after hearing the message played back. These ones are scams. The message often does not make sense to you but a return number is given. Only when you dial this number to see what the message was about, do you realise that you have been charged a premium rate for dialling. (Listening to the message from BT is free, dialling the number that left the message is not.) You must dial 0800 5875252. This will allow you to set the time of the day you wish to receive such calls, or better still by choosing option 1 followed by option 5, it bars these calls altogether and stops this happening again. Problem solved! Do not worry about receiving these nuisance calls ever again. Just ring the number and stop them for good. (Just remember by stopping all calls from this txt service you may be stopping future legitimate ones, but that is a small price to pay to stop the immediate hassle) If ever you wish to reintroduce the service you can ring again and do so. Hope this info is of use to everyone.
- DalitGot a number of phone calls this afternoon until we answerd and then received a garbled message. IF BT manages this service and we do not rent a line or service from BT, why does this text service ring our number? If we wished to have such service we would suscribe to it, but we do not!
