had exactly the same letter yesterday, realised they got my details from simply home media,a dvd/cd company who have now gone bust! just about to ring and cancel and then ring bank tomorrow just as a precaution to put a stop on it hopefully without the hassle of having to order a new debit card.
have been advised to ring consumer direct 08454040506 to report it,the more people that do this the better.

I've also had the FREE AND EASY experiance.

Last Thursday, 16th June 2011, the FREE AND EASY letter and glossy brochure dropped through the door telling me I was being signed up to this holiday company, despite never asking to be signed up to FREE AND EASY and also saying that for the privlage £99 would be taken out of my bank account (even though I had never passed on my bank details for FREE AND EASY)

Thankfully I actually read the letter, rather than just binning it as junk mail (which I'm sure a lot of people do) and realised I needed to get on to FREE AND EASY to cancel the subscription straight the way - Which I did and FREE AND EASY have cancelled the subscription.

I also contacted my bank and told them what had happened. They will be monitoring my account on a daily basis to make sure the £99 isn't taken from my account in the coming days. If it should be taken, they have assured me they will put the matter in the hands of their Fraud Department and will pay the money back to me.

After I'd done these two essential acts I decided to have a dig around the internet to see what I could find out about FREE AND EASY and most importantly to try and understand exactly who had given FREE AND EASY my bank details.

That brought me to this message board. And lo and behold I find out a DVD company I've been a cutomer with for years, MUSIC AND MEMORIES  - SIMPLY HOME ENTERTAINMENT - Is the company that passed on my name, address and bank account details to FREE AND EASY.

    I rang SIMPLY HOME ENTERTAINMENT to complain about them passing on my details to FREE AND EASY. They told me that they are the same company as FREE AND EASY and gave me the usual line about someone ringing me up to get permission to use my bank account to sign me up to the FREE AND EASY experiance - Which of course is an outright lie as;

    1. Nobody from FREE AND EASY has ever spoken to me.

    2. There is no way I would allow SIMPLY HOME ENTERTAINMENT to pass on my bank details to a hoilday company.

I find it completely outrageous that I can be a customer with a seemingly legitmate DVD company and all the while they are simply a cover for a bunch of scam artists!

I told SIMPLY HOME ENTERTAINMENT that I no longer wished to be contacted by them, would not be buying any DVD's or CD's from their brochures and wanted my account closed. I also told them I would be speaking to Trading Standards to see if anything can be done about their dodgy practices.

I urge everybody, Do NOT get involved with MUSIC AND MEMORIES - SIMPLY HOME ENTERTAINMENT - They are just a cover for the FREE AND EASY scam.

Well, I rang Trading Standards this afternoon and they put me in contact with the Europen Information High Commisioner For Data Protection who will be sending a form out so that I can make a formal complaint.

The High Commisioner confirmed they have had numerous complaints about FREE AND EASY LIFESTYLE and their subsidery companies. They also told me they believe if anybody did take the weeks "free" accomdation in the Spain they would find this is a Time Share scam.

They said that the more people complain to them, the more chance they will be able to get this FREE AND EASY scam stopped.

I received a welcoming  letter dated 25/05/11 from free&easy on the 8/06/11 offering me a 30 day free trial in their program starting today, (14 days of which had already disappeared.) following my recent mail order. They listed all the usual rubbish about the benifits of being a member. Needless to say having read the rest of the speil regarding taking £99.99 from my credit card account I instantly phoned and cancelled my unsolicated membership.I also wrote to Mr Carlos Rodriguez confirming this though I doubt if he actually exists. Having read all the of all the problems others have had I have cancelled one of my credit cards but was not able to cancel the other even though I explained that this is a real scam.
You would have thought by now over the length of time this scam has been going on that the banks would have closed all dealings with them.
They certainly live up to their name being free & easy with other peoples money. I would have thought that by now there is enough evidence for them to enjoy a free holiday in HMP.

The directors of Pressplay (Essex) and Pressplay CallCentre in Devon are the one running this scam.
Phillip Mason (suposedly an ex copper)
    Joanne Moores
    Scott Cleverdon
Pressplay sell several items by mail order including Spacebags. All calls go through to Devon including the ones to Free and Easy (although they tell you they are in Spain). They than keep your c/c details.to steal money from you later. The devon and essex addresses are in other posts.

My partner was watching one of these channels and saw something she wanted to purchase. 11/4/11
    It was some bras.
The company was ahhbra advertised on the home shopping network.

Unfortunately the bras didn't fit so my partner returned them for a refund. 19/4/11
All was fine she was refunded as per ahhbra conditions.

    we discovered yesterday (4/7/11)
On the 3/6/11 an unauthorised charge of £99.99 to a company called Free & Easy was made on the same debit card used for the original purchase.

Apparently, according to a chat with an ahhbra customer service person, Free & Easy Ahhbra are 'sister' companies along with about 30 other companies.
The operator knew nothing of the free and easy services/membership.

For us there was no follow-up phone call or info pack either.

We phoned/mailed aahbra and phoned 'free and easy' or as I think of them 'free & easy with YOUR MONEY'

It seems like all 30 companies are part of the same deal!

    AHHBRA
    Unit 7A Zone A
    Chelmsford Road Industrial Estate
    Great Dunmow
    CM6 1HD

don't forget to get your money back you have to pay for the 0871 'special services' rate
does 'special services' mean rip-off services?

I'm trying to get further info for the company.
eg list of other sister companies and add an appropriate rating for them on their various websites using
tools like WOT (web of trust) firefox add-on that allows you to rate sites for their reliabilty, honesty, safety etc.

This is the same thing that happened to me. Spacebags seems to be a front for this company.
I cancelled today and the resigned voice of the call centre girl implied that she had received a number of calls to do the same. Credit card company contacted and hopefully end of story.
Spacebags seem to be a theme and major culprit

I had a similar experience to you. I live in Ireland and ordered the bras from ahhbra to be delivered to my daughter in the U>K>   They never arrived.  Rang several times another package was sent out, but it failed to arrive too.  Two amounts were taken out of my account.   Rang company several times over a period of two months and got my money refunded eventually.   However, two months later a Free and Easy transaction of £99.99 has been taken from my account WITHOUT MY CONSENT. PLEASE BEWARE AND DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE COMPANIES - AHHBRA AND SPACEBAGS, BOTH ADVERTISING ON TELEVISION DURING THE NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just come home from work and opened my post.  I opened an envelope, read a bit, didn't recognise the company and decided to Google 'free&easylifestyle'.  Yep, me too!  "Wecome to Free&easy, following your recent mail order purchase, we are pleased to offer you a 30-day FREE trial in the Free&easy program......".  Scam indeed.  I am hereby contacting my bank and CC companies to cancel my current cards as I don't know where they got my details from or which account THEY ARE INTENDING TO STING.
For your information, please note the following as quoted on the letter attaching a very glossy brochure:
    Carlos Rodriquez
    Free&easy Customer Service Department
Buzon 150, Calle Diamante 19, P.I. La Ermita, 29603, Marbella, Malaga, Spain.
    Telephone reference: 0871 224 225.
Royal Mail pre-paid envelope: 'undeliverables please return to: ES 739575 ms, GREENFORD, UB18 7ES'.
'THIS IS NOT A CIRCULAR TIME SENSITIVE DOCUMENTS YOU REQUESTED ARE ENCLOSED'.

    Damn cheek!

I received a letter from 'free & easy lifestyle' this week welcoming me to their 30-day free trial, on completion of which I need take no action to continue membership, as they will process my credit/debit card for payment of the annual fee of £99.99.
I couldn't think what "recent mail order purchase" I had made to connect me with this company so, of course, I 'googled' it.  It was a relief to read all the posts, especially those mentioning Spacebags; I could now say "aaaah, I'm not going mad after all".
I have not received a phone call from them but did receive one from (seemingly) Spacebags checking customer satisfaction - was that genuine?
Anyway, thanks for all the advice folks - now I'm able to take some action.

I hope you are able to demand your money back, prendy.  As someone whose elderly mother has parted with thousands of pounds to scammers over recent years, it makes me feel sick to think of these criminals taking such advantage of vulnerable people. You have my heartfelt sympathy.

I have just phoned the company on 0871 220 3097 and an operator called Amanda says she has now cancelled my unsolicited 'membership'. Upon my challenging 'free and easy's' free and easy ways, she offered to arrange to have played back to me, the phone call in which, apparently, I agreed to receive the free & easy program. I await their call ...
