Call received on 2 February 2009.

Just received two calls from 0884626444. First one stopped ringing prematurely before I could answer it, the second was answered in time but the [***] hung up on me two seconds later.

down the bottom is contact. i sent my complaint via 'new mobile' otherwise they wont open it, thats what i reckon. im having psch distress and told them theyd hear from me again.

fuk these [***]. why should we line their pockets only to have some fuking [***] try to speak english, they cant even communicate or understand. i wish there was a 100% aussie company, id pay extra for that.

These people are a pain in the [***]. Have been getting calls for the past 2 months from this [***] number. And no one speaks, it's just dead like they are.

I had a call from this number, saying they were from Optus, right after I rang telstra (whom I have a contract with) to find out when my contract would end and how much it would cost if i decided to go to another provider. I don't know whether it's just a coincidence that the number called soon after that. And how I've been selected for a 'special deal' where i get a free phone an xbox and $100 credit to compensate me finishing my telstra contract early....I know theres a phone plan at the moment you can get with optus and get a free xbox, but I just found it very strange that the call came in so soon after me contacting telstra. They were asking for my credit card details so they could check my credit to see if I would be elligable for the plan. I told them I wanted to think about it and they told me the offer might not be around for very long and I said oh well I'll have to run that risk, and he told me he'd ring back later today. It just sounds a bit dodgy to me.

called up to 8 times over the last week - rang back and was an auto message... annoying

I've had a number of missed calls from this number over the last couple of weeks, generally while I'm at school so obviously I can't answer it.

The strange thing about it is I haven't been with Optus for over two years now, I just kept my phone number and swapped to 3.

I don't think this is optus, despite the recorded msg saying so when you call the number back.
If I could be bothered being on hold for 20 years I'd call optus myself to check...but I think next time this number calls I will be sure to answer and to tell them what they can do with their telephone!
All sounds very suss to me.

I hae been receiving calls from this number.  Today I actually answered the phone in time but they hung-up on me!  I too have heard it is Optus

It only rang a few times. So instead of feeding a scammer, glad the search brought up this website.

In the past I have received calls from Optus or someone selling Optus services.

Might just put the entry in my address book as "Annoying Salesperson" - to save time when they ring back in the future.

Yep, same thing, rings again and again and doesn't leave a msg. Can't say how many times I've asked them not to contact when they do get through. Once they even tried to sell me an Optus product I already had.

This is Optus for sure! Now that I "googled" this number that has been appearing on my phone & seeing everyone else's comments, I can be sure it is just Optus telemarketers. My husband & I just signed up with them only a couple of weeks ago and we have been getting these calls too.

Ive heard that these number don't leave a voicemail message so you will call them back, and by calling them back you are 'subscribing' to whatever the hell it is they are selling or doing. However, if you call the Adelaide number from a home phone the auto-subscription won't work, I really want to give them a piece of my mind, constant phone calls! BE CAREFUL! AND CHECK YOUR NEXT BILL IF YOU HAVE CALLED IT BACK!

I got a call from this number they said they were from optus similar to above a girl who sounds like optus representatives in india wanting to know if i understand my bill, if I am happy about my plan.

I confirmed my mobile and address but stopped at my other details she asked if i was happy with the service and charges and i said no i have been having problems and told me to contact my optus retailer....

Have only been with optus for less then a month, and Im already being harrassed? Just great!

Also, have had 2 missed calls today, I never answer a number I dont have in my phone, they can leave a message, but they dont, they have called now for the last 3 days. I have been with optus for 15 years, not been on a plan for 10 of those years, just got an iphone on a 2 year plan, and now being hassled... is this how they treat loyal customers.

This is the third time Ive been called, yet no msg left?

The last time was to offer me a Upgraded plan with access to the Web, plus a new handset. I wonder is the call due to not having a Contract in place?
The Man was quite insistant that I agree to his plan, which made me more convinced to say No thanks.
I had to hang up to get ride of him, so it seems hes back for another go.
One more call and I shall switch to another carrier, maybe that will get the message through..............

Got a missed call from this number tonight at 7.43PM, not sure why they have called out of business hours seem a bit suss to me. From this thread it must be someone claiming to be optus.. Glad to know its being reported though
