http://www.ukdatait.co.uk/cgi-bin/sgAddNumber.cgi - Ann BeardmoreI am getting multiple calls from this number, even though I am ex-directory. Have not managed to be in when they call but will ask mthem to remove me from their calling list if I do manage to speak to them. Apparently once you have made this request, it is illegal for them to make any further calls.

- eedocsmithI had a call from this number around 9am today. My answer m/c is set to ring just once before defaulting to the micro cassette.....but of course, these scammers never leave a message. You're absolutely right about that recently introduced UK legislation, limiting the phone harassment to just one call.....but hey!......under the Administration of Justice Act 1970 (Section 40)....please take a look at this rather useful (and somewhat re-assuring website) http://www.insolvencyhelpline.co.uk/debt_fact ... y_creditors.php
This website includes a link to a 4 page pdf faxable summary ......that can be used to quote (Section 40) `chapter and verse' to these anonymous cold calling scumbags!
If you are looking to use the, widely reported in the UK press, and also, widespread abuse, of PPI (payment protection insurance) miss-selling, by credit card companies and one can claim a good chunk of this back?..... just forget these debt re-scheduling scammers (who usually want 30/40% fee) and simply download template letters from www.thisismoney.co.uk (London Evening Standard) by typing `PPI' into their searchbox. Clearly explained and straightforward directions, are provided alongside these templates......happy reading.......easy does it!
Cheers!
EEDS - eedocsmithJust had another call from this number. Well I guess this persistent anonymous caller could now be another candidate for the new UK Ofcom legislation (since 1st Feb 2011), as outlined by an earlier poster on this very public spirited website, or alternatively, just check this news story out at: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20110201/uk-silen ... es-6323e80.html
I guess we all now stand a slightly better chance of sorting out these robot moron company callers.....where's Xavier and Wolverine ......from the X-Men movies?!
Cheers!
EEDS - ruffstylinI'm getting unwanted calls from this number on a regular basis. These calls are very annoying as there is no answer.
- Mystery-Child (:well they called today (indian man), and he asked for my mum repititively, then when i asked who was calling, he jumbled his words and said they were calling from an insurance company, and asked for my mother's number. Soon enough, the conversation was annoying me, so i stayed quiet for at least 2 minutes. The man said Hello Over 18 Times Before Hanging Up. Hasn't Called Back, But Now I Wish When He Asked For My Mothers NUmber I Said 999, Phone It Up, She'll Answer !
These Things Need To Be Stopped. - zhiliangevery two days i got call from this number. I do not know where this number come from? plese help me!
- Caller: i do not know
- eedocsmithThese jokers have called me yet again! They don't leave a message on my answer m/c. The UK has new legislation in place, since over one month now, to stop these silent callers. Its administered by Ofcom and now the new rules should prevent a company using answer machine detection equipment more than once a day, if a machine is detected on the first attempt. This should mean consumers no longer receive repeated silent calls from the same company.
Companies responsible for silent calls face up to £2 million fines under the new rules which have come into force since the 1st February. The rules were approved by the UK parliament last September. Ofcom has fined nine companies for making silent and abandoned calls, with Barclaycard receiving the previous maximum penalty of £50,000.........and Bob Diamond (Barclays) seems to think blaming bankers should come to a stop!?!........oh wot!
Not here on this very public spirited website......"get out of it Bob"!
Cheers!
EEDS - tinkerI have been receiving these calls for several days & weeks now. Always hang up so obviously an automated dialing system. It must be from abroad as I have set up silent call guard to block uk based ones. I now put cold calls on hold if someone does actually speak - I ask the caller to hold on & then just leave the phone off the hook & don't go back to it for some time by which time they have hung up.
