Property he posted was a rental property that appears on other sites, like Trulia... so he was able to send all the photos and info as if it was his own.

He used the name: Alan Smith, smithalan0@yahoo.com, 619-356-6634.
I also received another "reply" email from him using the name: Glenn Harrington, vacationrtx@yahoo.com.
I wired $1000 for a rental property in New Orleans back in February and just found this blog when I started getting suspicious a few days before our trip. He used the name Alan Smith, and identified himself as the property rental broker. He said the landlord's name/address to whom I should wire the money was: Giovanni Mangini, 3360 Reine Avenue, Slidell LA 70458. (I just googled this address and the property is for-sale).
I called him to confirm the rental and he answered (with an accent), and confirmed he was Alan Smith, at my prompting. I then emailed him again to confirm, and several hours later received a reply email from another email address (vacationrtx@yahoo.com; Glenn Harrington), which was an unfamiliar name.
The email from "Glenn" today said: "Hello, I just hangup the call from the owner of the property,He said he will need $400 to fix up some pipes renovating in the property and when you are checking in you will be given your security refundable fee $200 together with the $400 for the renovation the total amount to receive when you are checking in the property is $600. Please Advise Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T."
Of course, now, finally, I realized I'd been scammed. I called him again and he hung up on me when I started making inquiries about the rental and request for more money to fix the pipes.
