This was the second time this number called me.  The first time, I didn't answer.  Today, they told me they were calling from the PA CDC to do a survey and asked if this was my cell phone number.  It was, but I lied and told them that it was my landline.  They told me that I wasn't eligible for the survey because they are only surveying people over cell phones.  Hopefully this means they will stop calling me.

They are calling on behalf of the CDC. Each state is conducting a similar study right now.

Type in the state you are a member of and BRFSS into google.

The CDC compiles most of the data in general, but each state has some specific questions they are asking on their own...

The company is located in Idaho, and is contracted by the various states to complete these kinds of studies.

Being on the do not call list does not apply to government studies.

They *have* to hear you refuse on two seperate occasions. This is a guideline from each state, not something the company chooses to do.

I just called the number back and pressed 0 to be connected with the operator since i have no clue what ext # to dial...I was greeted by a polite woman and i told her that i had been receving calls from their number...she explained it was a survey and asked if wanted to participate...after telling her, no i didn't want to ..she promptly asked what phone number they were dialing to reach me and said she would immediately remove it so i would not receive any further calls....she was very polite and it only took about 2 minutes of my time ....easy fix if you dont want to be bothered anymore =)

They literally give you the number for your health department if you don't trust them...

Right.  A survey company working for the government that promises to keep your information confidential. Yea... rigght. Tell me JC, what color is the sky in your world?   Are you really serious with your statements?  

It is NOBODY's business how many people are in my house or what their medical condition is and I would NEVER discuss this with a total stranger.  If the Governent can't figure this stuff out by working with hospitals and within the HIPPA laws, they don't deserve the information (which they skew anyway).

I have been receiving calls almost nightly from Clearwater and have asked them 3 times to stop calling. Yet the calls continue.

By the way, you are a very poor representation of Clearwater. I hope their general employee base is a bit better.

My phone is for MY convenience.  I do not wish to participate in any survey for any purpose.  I don't want to be disturbed if I am trying to rest or if I am busy.  Leave me alone because I will not answer anyway.

This is not a scam. This is the best way they can collect accurate data by trained employees so it is scientific and unbiased. There is a different calling protocol for research firms that have contracts with State Departments (this protocol is decided by CONGRESS). Clearwater Research happens to have a contract with 13 states in the nation.

They are based in Boise, ID. That is why the area code is 208. The money used to pay for this survey is set aside annually every year in every state in the nation (there are more companies like Clearwater Research that do the same type of surveys). Some states have it done within the state, where as others contract it out based off of what money has been allocated and what the cost of service is.

There is no list and the Do-Not-Call-List doesn't apply because research firms get the numbers by the area code first and then a random 7-digit follows. "How is this random if you keep calling the same number?" Because once Clearwater begins calling that number it continues through the 30-31 day study period. Studies are done on a month cycle, so they call within that 30-31 day period. That is why you all of a sudden are getting called once a day.

If you are upset that they are not leaving a voicemail, then contact your states representative at the State Department of Health. Clearwater has to follow the rules that the Health Department of YOUR state has set for them.

If you want your reps info, answer your phone the next time they call and ask for it. If you answer and end up being eligible for the survey you can SCHEDULE A SPECIFIC CALLBACK TIME.

The system is not perfect. There are MANY flaws. However, this is the best there is right now. Before you go off on someone (yes they are REAL PEOPLE that work there) please keep in mind what I have stated above.

Also, if you do choose to do the survey you can SKIP ANY QUESTION you do NOT want to ANSWER. If you do not want to do the survey, let them know. If you continue to get calls GET YOUR STATES REP INFO AND FIND OUT WHY THEY ARE CALLING AN ADDITIONAL TIME.

Ronald, if you answer your phone you can request that they call no later than 8pm, or even better, you can schedule a time that is best for you.

The eligibility questions take less than a minute, so if you have a moment and answer those questions they can see if they even need to continue and set up a callback or not.

Have you ever considered that this is an invasion of privacy, and that there is no requirement for people to be harassed or to give information just because you want it.

They constantly call, and never leave a message. It is becoming increasingly annoying.

I don't care who you work for or who is paying your salary.  When a person does not want you to call and if you are truly a professional you will honor that regardless if the state wants a survey.  You should have an option to op out and since you do not then you are no better than the sleazy telemarketers that won't stop either.  It is 8:28 EST on Sunday and it just called again.  You can waste all your time and employee payroll to make call after call after call because I never intend on answering the phone.  If the state was a survey they can mail on to residents.   Our phone service is not free, we pay for the privilege of using it for our own good therefore as a private residence we have to the right to tell you to stop calling and we shouldn't have to do it twice.  

If you were so legit you would have needed to go to the length of defense as you have.    Obviously you are not because you do not leave a message verifying who you are and what you are calling about with an opt out option.  Obviously you are prying on the least educated, as you stated, or the elderly because others are too smart to give you the time of day.

This number keeps calling me on my my cell even though I told them to STOP calling me. It's a survey that I am not interested participating in. They call over and over, even on Sunday mornings!

By the way, are they going to pay for my cell phone minutes that they're burning up every time they call me and I tell them that I'm not interested and to please NOT call again? I use my cell phone for EMERGENCIES only.
