got a call from this number this morning, male with a strange accents said my computer was showing errors reports. the number he called from was from Texas on my caller ID. when I asked where his location was he said New York. I told him to wait there and I would send the FBI.  this is a scam if anything.

Called but hung up without saying anything. 30 minutes later got the same thing for a new number this time. One was "from" AZ and one "from" TX.

These are slugs calling from the Cayman Islands. They want to tell you that their records show that your
computer is sending out thousands of messages to the internet.

If you play along with them, they will tell you how to access your computer so they can control it, thus gleaning
all your information. Do not I repeat do not let them guide you to the settings page which
will allow them to take control of your computer. They tell you they are from Windows
and when I asked told me they were located in Albany, NY. They are scammers big time. I called the FCC or whatever and made a complaint. They just called me and I did not answer. The number comes in 210 280 8487. They had the serial number to my computer which I bought at QVC. How they got my serial number and name is anyone's guess. But they are pukes. They will try every con trick in the book.

Forgot to mention, they also call on numbers that show out of area.
So best not to answer those either. When I talked to them they had a
whole room full of guys calling numbers, you could hear all of them
talking and I asked him about that. Of course he lied.

I called Microsoft, Verizon and everyone else. They stated that Microsoft does
not call people with computers to tell them there is a problem. They are using
cell phones, 800 numbers and anything they can to get people to answer their
phone calls.

We received 5 calls this morning from someone claiming to be calling from ITT Tech and he informed me that our computer had various viruses and that he was going help us correct the situation. I said hold on and I will give you to my husband he then hung up . He calls back again and my husband got this guy upset and started yelling at my husband sir do not make me angry listen to me sir you have got me very upset I am calling to help you fix your virus. My husband said give me your number and I will call you back when I am ready he gave this number 855-365-0585 but our caller ID showed 210-280-8487 from San Antonio,Texas

Got a call from this number today and caller started the conversation with "Hi Grandpa its me".  I told him he had the wrong number as Im not even a grandfather and he repeated himself with "Grandpa its me".   I told him I wasn't his grandpa and he hung up.  I could hear several conversations going on in the background.   This appears to be a huge scam ring.  How has it been allowed to continue for so long?

Got the same call from that number myself today. Told him he must have the wrong number. He said Grandpa it's me, I got arrested in Texas. I said well that's great for you since I just talked to you this morning in Champaign, IL 6 minutes ago. He hung up then.

Got the call telling me they were from windows technical department and wanted to help me with my computer.  A big scam.

received three calls in a row from this number.  very demanding person on the line assured me that they were going to block my computer.  he was with "windows."  I hung up, he called back, twice.  I said 'you can't block my computer!'  so, now I will just not answer another call from 210 area code.

Received a call from this number.  It transfered me to an obvious foreign connection that said they would need $700.00 to remove my name from the call list.  I said I don't think so this is illegal and they hung up.  I reported this to the state attourney general's office.  I did call the number back and reached a gentleman that was very nice.  They are using some type of link to connect the line to his personal number.  He is reporting this issue as well.  They called me twice.

Additionally, the other posts talk about computers...they were offering me special rates of 3% on all credit card balances.  I work in banking and know this was NO WAY an option. :)  I am sure they were looking to get credit card information.  I worry that elderly people could really get into trouble.

From those who wrote in saying it was a computer firm from TX.  How do you know if the number was not spoof?

Im really about to completely screw these guys over. If they contact me or any member of my family, I am then going to wait for the following call while connected to a very special program on my pc that will then link me to the callers ip then from there ill be able to access there router info. (after a few hours of brute forcing the routers password/pin #). From there ill be able to look at any device connected by wifi that has ever been. Therefore being able to determine the people that have benn calling us. Now their will probably be like 10 different people so after the proccess of narrowing it down i will identify the key link. And if neccessary i will remoyley access there pc and report their files anonymously to the police: )

Got a call from this #.  They said they were from the Microsoft technical dept.  That's when I hung up.

Microsoft will NEVER call you.  EVER.  Remember that.

I labeled this as a prank call because, let's face it... that's what it is.

At least they use the same scam number.

I received a call from this number.  He asked for me, I told him I was dead. He hung up quickly,

It was an Indian woman stating she was from Dell, calling about my Dell computer transmitting messages that it was being hacked.  When questioned, she said she would give me instructions on how to to resolve the problem.  When pressed, she said she was in New York.  Her English was very poor, and it was obvious she was reading form a script.  There is a scam running where they call people, and say their PC is being hacked, and to follow their directions, so they can access your PC and fix it.  For the record... I don't own a Dell PC.
