Maryland Here. Just received a call twice.

When you answer the phone by saying hello the recording will let you know it's a FFFRRREEEE call from _________ jail and the inmate will state his/her name. After that the recorder willl give you a chance to accept or deny the call.If the inmate keeps calling you , most likely the person knows you and you know them and they need your help or maybe just want to talk. It's free to you so wheather you know someone is in jail or not accept it. IT'S FREE!!!

At first I was getting numerous calls saying something along the lines of "AN INMATE AT SUNSET COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT HAS A CALL FOR YOU. YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK A MAXIMUM OF 10 MINUTES FOR A CHARGE OF 9.99." I was sure it was a scam because I don't know anyone that would be in prison, so I hung up. I researched, and there isn't even a Sunset County in the United States that I could find.

Then I started getting voicemails that said things like "Press 1 to be connected to this private number", etc. Really obnoxious. Does it give up after a while?

I guess I'm just grateful it's not a child's voice repeating, "Mummy... I want my mummy. Are you my mummy?"

I got a collect call from jail yesterday from a different number and didn't accept it bc i ddnt want to pay the fees. I got a call from this 2135430000 number today. i assumed it was another collect call so i let it go to voicemail. It turns out this number was actually for a prepaid call. I still don't know who is trying to get ahold of me though. It didn't say the name. I'm hoping they will try to call again but if not is there anyway I can find out who it is? I have a feeling but want to know for sure.

Calls came in Friday night and Saturday morning.....Who are you that you want
me to accept charges?

I have a friend in federal prison that is who is calling from this number..its a calling card, you will not be charged for the call...

Gettign a call from 213-534-0000. It's a nuiance. Please help. there are others people reporting this problem.

about the 213-543-0000 #, why would you want to know if someone is calling me from jail? can you tell me who it is and/or make them stop?

This is a crank or spoof call.  I did research.  Not actually an inmate, someone is using a crank call app to mess with u.  You can have the phone company block it.  I did.

It is a crank call application.  Also know as a spoof number.  Have your phone company block it.  Very easy on tmobile

Block it through your phone company.  It is not a real person in jail.  Just a crank calling application someone paid for on thir iPhone.

It IS a call from a jail... NOT a telemarketer.

Do not ignore the call. At least answer first to make sure its not a long lost family member or friend. It does not cost u anything to answer the call, so if it ends up being the obvious meaning the wrong number then block it. If ur going to block it however this is the number they (inmates in county jail) call from so if someone u know goes to jail and tthen tries calling u uve blocked them! So again remember...the number that's calling u will not charge u anything, it only charges the inmate!

I just got three calls from this number today...and the person was in the Macomb County Jail here in Michigan, which isn't too far from my house. (Last week I got a call from the Oakland County Jail which is also nearby, just another county over). The first time today I was sleeping and didn't answer...and no message was left. The second time I listened to the message and it was a prepaid card and they said there would be no charge to me or they gave me the option of pushing 5 and blocking the number.....so I pushed 5 and blocked the number. Not even TWO minutes later, I got another call after blocking the number!!!  I answered it again and decided to just tell the person they had the wrong number....so the guy says "[***]...you tryin ta block my calls now?!!!"  I said "You've been calling the wrong number! I tried to block you to save YOU money, but you keep calling the wrong number!" He said "This isn't Rueben?" I said "noooooo" and then he said "Well D**! I just wasted my last minute then!!"  I said "Uhhh...sorry!" and we hung up.  Apparently he didn't realize I wasn't a friend of his and that he had the wrong number. It was HIS money...on a pre-paid card...that he wasted. This wasn't a scam by any means...just a phone number mix up...in this case anyhow.

i received two phone calls from this number. I'm from california but dont know anyone in prison. Nwxt time i will follow the prompts to have the calls stopped
