Report a phone call from 214-699-6217 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- M Anderson| 2 repliesI spoke with two agents of LTA this morning both of whom spoke with an accent. I regret that I gave them my credit card information and also 4 digits of my social insurance number. I asked why this was needed and got a vague answer. When he told me that I would have to pay $495 dollars I told him that I had to make a phone call.
After I hung up I called the 214 # which he told me was in Dallas which is a Dallas number for the full name of the company. The person answering the phone wanted to know who I was but I did not reveal my identify. I also checked on the website and about calls to lower your CC interest rate are typically scams. I called me CC companies to report a possible fraud. One cancelled the card. The other put a hold on the account. I was also advised to call a fraud number and to advised the credit rating organizations to make a note on file should some one want to use my name and the last 4 digits of my social insurance number to apply for credit or to loan. This scam creates a lot of hassle in your life.- Caller: ???
- Rachel| 1 replyI received a call yesterday from a company stating that they would be able to lower my credit card rates for all of my major credit cards. I immediately thought it sounded fishy since normally it would be a specific credit card company calling and they would not normally call to offer a lower rate since this loses them money. When I asked which credit card company he was calling from he just kept saying that they offer this lower rate on all major credit cards. Then he asked me for my credit card number. That's when I knew for sure it was a scam. I told him I thought it was a scam and hung up. He called back immediately upset by the hangup, assuring that they were legite. So I asked him for his info so I could check it out and call back if I found that it was in fact legit. He said his name was Shawn Riccardo (again like the above comments he had an accent) and that he worked for Lindquist Tax & Accounting (he even spelt it for me). He then said to call him back at 1-214-699-6217 ext. 292. This only added to my theory that it is a scam since I work for an accounting firm and we have nothing to do with interest rates and therefore would never call someone offering a lower rate. Be aware of these people and NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE!!

- Desiree| 1 replyI too received a call from LTA about 5 minutes ago informing me that they would lower my interst rate to 6%. Like above they said they were from Calgary, but definitely had an Indian Accent. When the caller (Simon Paul) which is so obviously not his name, asked for the verification number on the back of the card, I grew suspicious and refused to provide it. He gave me CIBC's toll free number and the first four digits of my VISA card, which is public knowledge. When he asked for the digits of my credit card to verify the card that they had to reduce the interest rate, I simultaneously checked out the website on the internet and asked him questions about it. Thankfully, I came across this site and immediately told them I was not interested. Can't anything be done about this? So many people will innocently provide the information and get duped.
BE AWARE OF LTA, 214-699-6217 - MAJOR SCAM.- Caller: LTA

- Mikhal John replies to DesireeI also got a call today from Lta That lady said we lowering your interest rate on your existing Credit Cards i gave her my Credit Card info And THey gave me the low interest rate and charge me $995.U.S Dollars but um happy that i got low interest rate on ma four cards.........
- Mary replies to Danny HutchisonIt's a scam. They just called here saying they worked with all the banks and could lower my interest rate. When I asked a question about the company, they wouldn't answer and some guy with a think Indian accent would just say "Ma'am, ma'am.... we can lower your interest rate"..... "Ma'am.... ma'am".....
I told him to get a real job, except I'm sure none of them are qualified to get a real job. - PeppiGot a call around 6:30pm from 403-255-8807. Automated voice offering a lower rate on my credit cards. When I pressed '9' got a gentleman with a heavy Indian accent whose said his name was Rony Walters (highly doubt it) said that he was calling to make a one time offer of 6% interest rate on all my credit cards. He said he was calling from a gouvernment agency and that they were offering people with good credit a once in a life time deal and that I should consider myself 'really' lucky to have this offer. When I asked him that I found it strange that it wasn't my credit card company calling he kept repeating that his agency (Linquist Tax Accounting) was working with the Canadian gouvernment to provide lower interest rate. He then said he just needed one of my credit card numbers and gave me the first 4 digits to a Visa card (which is public info). I told him I wouldn't give him any info and he said he didn't need anything, not my social insurance number, not my pin and not my mother's maiden name). I told him that I didn't have my card handy (I wasn't going to give him my credit card number as I knew for sure that this was a scam) and he said he would wait for me, no problem, while I got it. I told him that I didn't feel comfortable giving him this information and again he repeated that he was working with the gouvernment. I asked him for his number and that I would call him back. At first he didn't want to provide it. Finally he gave me a number: 214-699-6217 and his ext 244.
EVERYONE BEWARE. THIS IS A SCAM. I called my credit card company and they said this is a known scam and NEVER to provide any info. I've worked for 2 major canadian banks and when someone from a Bank or credit card company calls, they have all your information and NEVER ask you any information. If this happens to you, I would suggest you contact Equifax and Transunion (credit rating companies in Canada) and ask them to place a fraud alert on your profile so that your credit ans identity is proteced.- Caller: Lindquist Tax Accounting
- theguyJust got a call from 214-699-6217....said they were going to lower my intrest rates on credit cards, sounded like India. Said they were representing Visa and Mastercard. They knew I had both cards...sounded fishy so I rang my doorbell and said I had to go, could I call them back. Gave me this #, an extension and the name Melissa....with a very heavy Indian accent....... sounds like a scam to me.....not gonna happen.

- alsofellforit replies to maplelimeUnfortunately I also fell for this line of crap. 10 days ago, after receiving months woth of messages from these guys "Lindquist Tax and Accounting" they caught me at home and boy oh boy they sound like they mean business!! They already had most of my card information which made them sound more believable plus they put you thru to several supervisors who all give you their names and employee numbers and confirmation numbers abound. They quote the Federal Cr. Card Association and tell you how they will lower your interest rates for a one time fee...and that once it is lowered it stays that way for life...even if you open a new account with someone else they shouldn't be able to charge you a higher rate once you are approved for the lower one, Sounds tooo good to be true/it is!! Thankfully this morning I contacted both the cards they had expressed interest in, and found that even tho they had not yet charged anything to my accounts, they had tried to access them. Both cards were reported stolen and cancelled and I feel like I managed to dodge this bullet - this time. Thank goodness. I was informed by my card account that no I mean no other company is authorized to lower your interest except your card company itself. I plan on taking that to heart from now on. Hope the rest of you do too.
- Lucie GagnonI got this call Saturday to press 1 to lower my credit card interest rates to 6%.
After giving my card numbers, they kept transferring me to other departments.
The 4th department, 30 minutes later, when he said they were going to charge my card $495.00
and transfer me to my bank, I said, no. don't charge my card,
I finally hang up. The phone wring again, i pick up and it's the first person i talk too.
She wants to know why I cancelled and I said I need to talk to my husband before I agree.
She agreed to call me back tonight. Monday November 14,2011.

- K.U. replies to M Anderson| 1 replyJust got a call from the same "company". It showed up as "Private Caller" on my caller display, but everything else was the same, from the female automated voice saying they were calling regarding my credit cards and offering me interest rates as low as 6% and I had to press 9 to confirm I was interested. Then I talked to a man with a VERY thick ethnic (probably Indian) accent.
He asked me which card I wanted to lower my interest on, Visa or Mastercard to which I replied, "you are calling me to offer me a lower interest rate, do you not know which cards I have"?
He gave some bull story about working for a government agency and when I asked which one he stated LTA and again asked me to provide the credit card information I wanted to lower interest on. I then replied that I was a bit leery giving out my information over the phone to a 3rd party company and told him I would be letting him go and hung up before he had a chance to say anything more.
COMPLETE SCAM. Rule of thumb, if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. - K.U. replies to K.U.By the way, forgot to add that the people here stating that they've had to pay X amount of dollars and it really worked to get their interest rates reduced are probably just fake reports from the people who are attempting to pull off the scam. DO NOT FALL FOR THESE FALSE SUCCESS STORIES!!!
- TroyJust received a call from William Cooper(funny name for a person I can't understand a word from with the heavy accent) from (403) 255-8807. He said he could lower my interest on my credit cards to 6%. After he asked what my limit and balance were he said I qualified and would be receiving a call with in the week. That's when I was curious and asked him for more information which he was reluctant to give. He told me he worked for Visa and MC and that was it. I said that cannot be possible, they just don't phone and tell people they will lower their interest rates.
*William Cooper* then went on to tell me that Visa and MC are large companies and have plenty of departments and that he worked out of one of these departments. I asked which one. He said another dept. Then I said NO...you must work for an outside company. What is your company name? William and I went around in circles with this question for quite some time before he finally admitted he worked for Lindquest tax Accounting.
I phoned the RCMP and they did tell me that yes this is a FRAUDULENT CALL...They never did take my complaint though because I never gave any card information but told me to call the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre.
William will call me back next week to approve me and that's when they will most likely ask for more info...Looking Forward to that phone call I tell ya. - JoanneDo not trust this company it is a big scam They claimed to lower your interest rate to 6%. The guy told me his name was Mark then i was passed on to a Allan Jones who gave me his agent id & indicated he was from Calgary AB the area code of 214 is from Texas. When he called back the area code was a 905 area code.He then continued to tell me that he was a legitimate business giving me all of his company info. Asking me for my credit card info.I'm thinking something is wrong why would he be asking for my credit card information.I told him he should be reading out the number to me if he knew who i was.Do not trust this company & report them immediately.

- SFLTeK replies to maplelimeI am sorry and sad about your story... it happens to many people, even though the news talks about this all the time. If they can't give you personal information, then they usually are not legit. The only time credit company will call you is if you have past due amounts. I just received myself a call from the same people, you press 9 if interested in saving and someone came on the phone... when I asked him about his company name, he said the same thing, Lindquist Tax & Accounting. but being the computer network specialist that I am, I was already looking them up on the internet while speeking with them. When I told them that they should be letting their boss know that this was not a good way to contact people and not knowing our personal information, it is unsecure and I told him that I believed them to be a fraud company, and guess what, he hung up!!! Humm, hope the credit company gets your money back...
I got scammed before, yes I did!!... thought I was buying legit ink cartridges on the internet, but it was a bogus site, I called the credit company and they took all my information, and because the number I provided, they never answered the phone, they immidiately credit my account, and because I sent an email to the site, thretening them, they actually sent my cartridges a week later, lol... but they only lasted around 10 good printings each, if it makes you feel any better. sorry again and please all be carefull. If they can't provide you with personal info, they usually are scammers and beware! - kate replies to Kathy| 1 replyI just received a call fromlinquist tax accounting.Man with heavy east indian accent telling me that he can lower my interest rate on my visa,i just need to give him the card #. he assures me nothing can be charged to my card without SIN # etc. Hmmm. i refuse to give him my card # over the phone . he tries hard to convince me so I ask him to call me back in 1/2 hr,he says no and the call is over. Smells bad to me
- non beleiver replies to kateJust got a call a few hours ago also> Same story as most. Jay Barnard told me they were Visa. They had lots of my info.- gave last few numbers of my account- they knew right away my balance -my last payment- my credit limit.Passed me to next person Maddy Parker he started asking more questions
do I work? How much do I make. I said if you were Visa you would have all this information- so who are you- he than admitted he worked for Lingquist Tax account but working with visa. I start losing it on this guy- stating Visa has no right to give out my personel information and I demand to know who in Visa they are working with and name of person that hired their company? Maddy Parker than passes me to his manager- I"m yelling at him demanding to know who in visa has given them my information> He says George Martin ext. 416 at 1800-6986317. While I"m flipping out on this guy- I dial this number (3times) very time it is a Cardio Fitness Co. I ask the Manager (no name) what the hell is your name and he hangs up. I call Visa To give them hell for giving out my personnel info to the company they have hired and they tell me that this may be Idenity theft. As we are discussiing
it comes out that they have known this for a couple of weeks I am told this by the young women I am speaking to in the fraud department. I demannd to know how if they have known for 2 weeks that they have not informed their card holders, she makes some accuse and maybe she miss spoke. I ask to
speak to a supervisor- I tell him I am very angry that they have known for 2 weeks and are not informating their customers. He tells me some long song and dance mombo jumbo about they have to go through a process first. I let him know I am not happy with that response. We than change my card -they also
tell me I should inform Equifax ect. I than see these emails and see that this started way back in June - and that Visa has known this for way longer than just 2wks. I called them back said I was
livid- that they have known for months and months and not told card holders which I find just as criminal- and that I probalbly will just go to the media with this and just cancel my cards as I don't want to do business with a company that knowingly does not inform their customers of these scams
