OK Wayne Winterhalt, or what ever your name really is, BUDDY! Just the fact that you started by calling me buddy on the call, no financial institution would be so relaxed in their approach. Where are you really from, not Calgary, with a 214-699-6217 number. Get this, first he said I needed to pay at least 500$ off on my card so that they could negotiate with me, then he was able to verify my balance and came back stating I needed to pay 200$ on my card... but this was to bill me 500$ for their fees, to negotiate for me. I quote '' buddy, you won't get yourself a lawyer at 500$, and you need a lawyer to negotiate a better rate!''  When I thanked him and declined, he asked me why I was being so rude, I again said no thanks I am not interested, then he told me to go F&CK MYSELF!

A Jay Bernard called, heavy accent from India/Pakistan, said I got approved for a 6% interest on my visa and MC, when I wanted to verify if he was actually genuine and wanted to talk to the supervisor, he said he was very busy at the moment and he couldn't talk to me. He said he was calling from Calgary.

It seems 630 869 5674 calling himself Eugene is the same as 214-699-6217 Mark Johnson.  Eugene called just before 2:30 pm Nov 30 offering aid to debt.  The infomercial talked about consolidating debt saying this is the call the creditors don't want you to hear.  The call ended after I repeatedly requested who it was calling and what company he represented.  Don't you want credit relief?  I will not reveal anything until I know who I am talking to.  After a few words back and forth the person hung up.

After 3pm I got the call from Mark Johnson who tried to tell me about my credit card.  He made several claims and offered to change my interest rate from 19% to 5%.  I asked for the name of the company.

He represented to which he initially answer Master Card and Visa - we are one company now.  Really I responded that is news to me.  I asked again and told him these companies don't make these calls a front company does this.  What is the real name of your company?

He responds with lindquist tax and accounting (I made him spell it for me) .  He starts asking for my credit card information.

I respond hold on a minute I don't give out this information without looking up who I am talking to.  I actually google it and found this site close to the top.

He starts yelling at me.

He yells your an idiot and hangs up.

Yeah I guess I am but I am keeping my money.  I consider all telemarketers fair game but this takes the cake.  Both sounded like the same person.  Does anyone know of a good tracing program that could trace calls back to the actually origin?

I called MasterCard and they responded with we don't care.  They gave me a website to check my credit but when they realized I am Canadian they said it won't work anyway.  They transferred me to the fraud department which is an automated voice telling you to contact your local authority.  Really they don't care - they are saying it is not their problem.

I was wondering if anyone who has received such calls has been participating in any kind of online surveys.
The reason I ask this is because I also received such a call, but my # is private and unlisted. I received the same scam call less than 24hrs after completing some online surveys. Credit card company don’t know how the scammers even come accross the partial card info. I shred everything with my name on it before throwing it out, so how? IP address?

This whole thing is just disgusting. About a week ago I received a call promising to lower my interest rate on my credit card. The person already knew my credit card account balance, the interest I was paying as well as my last credit card payment. They also called out the first 8 digits of my card and asked me to call out the last 8 digits for ‘verification purposes’. I didn’t want to, I felt like they should already know this.
So I was ‘put through’ to an ‘associate’, and it was while I was ‘on hold’ to speak with this other ‘associate’ I hung up.

The man had a light east-indian accent, he gave me a phone# where he could be reached. Said he was from LTA-Lindquist Tax and Accounting.
Of course the phone# he gave(214#) as well as the # appearing on my phone( a 1-877#), were both invalid.

They called back at least 8 times within the space of 1 hr, and then a couple more times after that, but I never picked up.
One message was left asking me what had happenened, in this pathetic desperate voice.
So after I hung up I notified my credit card, cancelled and called my local anti-fraud orginaztion, had identity on watch alert, because before I realized it was a definate scam I had confirmed my name, address and DOB.

I honestly don’t know how these ‘people’ can even stomach themselves, doing what they do. They are pure scum, and may they all loose double-fold of what they took or tried to take in all aspects of their lives

Looks like it's going around! I did received a call yesterday from 214-699-6217 calling himself William Cooper.  These guys have alot of your personal information and would like to know how do they get that kind of information.  I did call my bank and they told me that the call is fraudulent and I was not the first one to report this. They immediately cancel my card and advise me to call Equifax & Trans Union to protect myself. Now I have a protection alert on my credit file.  I rather be safe than worried.

Lucie, have you ever participated in any online surveys?
I too have asked how do they know the personal information, I think that alone is quite alarming. My bank however didn't seem all that alarmed at all. Seemed almost routine for them.
Why dosen't there seem to be any answer to this? There should be an answer to this, so that people's personal information isn't routinely compromised like this.

Got a call this am as well - offered to lower interest rates to 6% gave all info on two cards - when asked for # gave the number on back of BMO card - no 411 on phone  did a call to bank and blocked account right away- damn I feel stupid!!

you say your a real companie ,why your charging different amount to people?,why did visa dont know who you are ? why dont you have any web site ?

You know what ? i have just cancel my credit card because what i read about this company ,they call me wednesday and they tell me they where from USA ,i tought it's was very strange because they ask me for amount in american dollars ,and i'm from Canada ...so i call visa and they did'nt know this company ...after i search in web and what i read about what happen to all of you i call my credit card company and cancel my card .....thanks to all of you!!!!

I just received a call from SAM ANDERSON at LTA, 1-214-699-6217 Ext 293 offering me a 6% credit card rate on my credit card.  He was questioning me on a few things then slowly got on the subject of verifying my personal information.  BUDDY wanted my expiry date and when I refused to provide it to him he went on to say they were a firm looking for my best interest trying to negotiate a better interest rate with potential lenders.  BUDDY did not know my current interest rate, but knew parts of my address and home phone number.  Eventually, I gave him my expiry date on my card.  Then BUDDY continued on asking me to confirm my credit card number to which I replied to him you must have it since you want me to confirm it.  I asked BUDDY to first tell me the number and I would confirm it.  This is when Buddy got defensive.  I finally told him I was a police officer and BUDDY really got defensive, encouraging me to go on his website to confirm who LTA were.  NO BRAINER, NEVER GIVE YOU CREDIT INFO OR PERSONAL INFO ON THE PHONE OR ON LINE,  ALWAYS NEGOTIATE RATE WITH YOU BANK IN PERSON.

Just got a call from 214-699-6217....said they were going to lower my intrest rates on credit cards, sounded like India.  Said they were representing Visa and Mastercard.

... you are involved with them (LTA) and monitoring this site to try and convince others that they're legit!  Try again!  You called my house and conveniently had your number blocked but again, you were sketchy about your information and your were definitely indian ... LTA is in USA and you said you were in Calgary ... went to LTA website and didn't see any locations in Canada mentioned there.  How do you explain that?

Just had the same thing happen to me,same phone numbers as well.They knew my details about my card etc and I had some guy called "Joe Nixon" with such a heavy Indian accent that I could not understand him.Then they kept putting me on hold because I was telling them they were a hoax and then a so called supervisor would come on.The phone numbers are coming from Calgary and Ontario for me.I could also hear others in the background recording names and numbers.I cancelled my card immediately and while on the phone they had tried to get 1cent from my card as a test run but were declined,so i was lucky and got out before I was taken for all my $
Tell these pieces of crap to go choke themselves if they call you,they are all BULL**** and a scam.

I just got off the phone with this company called Lindquist Tax & Accounting staing that they are mandated by Visa & Mastercard to reduce interest rates for good credit customers. They had all my credit information online and asked me to confirm certain informations. They stated that once I would receive the lowered interest rate on my Visa card that there would be a one time fee of $495, which set off warning bells about this being a scam.
I immediately called Visa ad they are not aware of this company. The phone number on call display was (403) 255-8807 which a line out of Alberta, Canada.
the employee that contacted me was really nice and gave me her name Jazz Parker employee ID # 290918 and her direct line (214) 699-6217 ext: 301 which is a Texas landline. When I called this number they would not give me their address and kept transfering me back & forth.
Visa has now cancelled my credit card and is re-issuing me with a new one today.
BEWARE OF THIS SCAM!
