Started getting calls Friday on my cell phone - have received 6 so far.  A recording says it's "a courtesy call from an inmate incarcerated in a correctional facility."  Checked with cell phone carrier who said I should call the number which SHOULD connect me with the correctional facility and have my number removed from the outgoing calls list.  I tried calling the number but only got a busy signal.  Anyone else have any suggestions?

My boyfriend has called me and this number shows on the caller ID.  We both live in Houston.  I googled it and arrived here, and so I asked him what was up.  Turns out, he uses a phone card to call me when he is using a payphone. So my guess is that this number is the trunk line from the long distance phone card company, and, is based here in Texas.  (And knowing him, it is prolly the cheapest phone card available LOL).

I received 2 calls from 214-969-5489 on March 21 in the late afternoon to my cell phone.  The caller said that it was a collect call from a work collegue (that works in Orient Ohio) and does not have the right to call on the work number and charge it to the business.  I do not have a credit card; so I could not accept the call. Also, I would not give my SSN or anyone's credit codes in an incoming call.  I hope all is well with this collegue.  THe business is in a down-sizing mode.  He is a co-worker I went through training with and I am supportive of him.  Thanks for all of you that documented your experiences.  I am trying to be supportive and to contribute mine.  Beth

This number called me but I didn't answer, they did not leave a message. How would they have gotten our numbers?

This number has been calling my house all night.  I never answer for any number I don't recognize, so haven't answered and they have not left a message.  Weird.

I got a call from this number at 11:59 p.m. I do not know where it cam from. It might have been Texas. It was a collect call but they did not go through it with it because my phone doesn't accept collect phone calls. Oh, well...

Please stop the fuss about this number. It is a switch number belonging to ILD Telecommunications.  ILD processes collect, calling card, and credit card calls from payphones, inmate facilities, hotels, schools, etc. The originating caller id does not get passed through on the call. additional info can be found at www.ildtelecom.com.  ILD does not control the type of call, but is rather a delivery and billing company processing the call. The reson some people are asked for a credit card is that ILD is unable to bill the call on the called party's home phone bill.  Many cable companies and small independant phone companies do not accept these types of 3rd party  charges.  ILD processes these types of calls for many of the larger phone companies, including Verizon, AT&T, Embarq, etc.

I received a call with this number. It seems an automated lady voice, that it is coming from a parole dept. Please number 3 to accept and charge the bill. I just  hang up. I don't know if this is prank call or a scam artist tactics. Could you please investigate on this. I looked into google that there so many complaints about this. Let this number be blocked. Thank you.

I was searching for NY apartments on craigs list...the listing said to please leave your number so the ownwer could contact you...next day I miss 2 calls in the morning...when I try to call back its busy..and when it rings no one answers...then they call back and I answer says hes showing the apartment today... cant send me pictures and if i need to call him he gave me another number...never went to see that apartment!

his father has been gone somewhere???? for 9 weeks
is he in jail? is this a jail payphone?

Got three calls from that number on the office phone where I work. Answered it the first two times and got no reply. Third time I let it ring. Seems like a scam or prank of some kind. I'd ignore it.
