I got a call from this numer 2 but i hadn't answered it. When I called back it was busy. Judging from the comments I've read, something needs to be done.

I received a call on my cell phone.  I ignored the call because I didn't recognize the phone number.  I read all of your comments and I have no idea how my cell number was attained by these pranksters

My boyfriend called me from this number. He was at a payphone in Arizona. Its just a routing place that is in Dallas TX thats why it gets traced back to a Texas area code...

Someone called my Dad from this number(214-969-5489) saying it they were calling about my brother who got released today, and said they need $100  and asked my Dad to give them his credit card number, My Dad told them that he did not have the number in hand and to leave a number for him to call them back and they said no and hung up... My sister was all worried he was being held hostage and were demanding ransom... who the hell are these people....????

orange county, california....received a call from this number on my home phone. Didn't get to answer before the machine picked up. It was "Cara" calling collect. Don't know anyone named cara, or anyone else who calls collect now a days. People try to get you anyway they can.

Call from this number came to my cell phone (a Seattle number but I live in Denver). They didn't leave a message and when I call back it is either busy or rings without answer.

call come through around midnight june 1st . said it was a collect call from my daughter . we live in bc canada . called 411 they said it was from dallas texas. we know no one there. but dont know my daughter is, she is only 18 .

Got a call from this number at 1:30 AM...didn't answer it as I didn't recognize the number. Today, looked up the area code which is Texas. Tried calling the number & it was busy for awhile. Called later & no one ever answered.

This number has been calling my cell number none stop for over 2 hours. I haven't answered it cause I don't answer out of state phone numbers (I am in Colorado) I don't know. They never leave a message, just keep calling and calling and calling...

I think the comment posted 28may08 ILD is correct.  It's merely an identification number used at public payphones and happens to have a Dallas area code.  The people that are getting the strange calls, which appear to be coming from inside a prison, probably are if that prison has payphones with this communication service, and inmates are making random calls.  My experience was legitimate, it was my husband calling me from a payphone in Miami as he misplaced his cell phone. Not to worry, but don't give out ANY personal information to strangers.

I live in New Mexico and I have been getting calls from this number too, last one came this morning about 11:53. I never answer it, and they haven't left a message so far.

Got a call from this number a few nights ago.. she left a message saying my name and saying i sounded mad.. but she never said who it was... after that i called it back and it was busy.... so i looked up the number and found this.. its crazy.. anyways sent a message to my friend on the computer that was supposed to call me... she said she did and she left a message, the same one saying my name and that i sounded mad... and she said she called from a pay phone at work.. but she lives in georgia.. so i was confused..

I live in NC and I got a call from this number, but it was a missed call. I tried calling back but all I got was a buisy signal. I'm really scared because people are saying that they knew their names, asked for card numbers, etc.
And I'm only 13..

Oh yeah and the call came in at 9:51am.

Got a call from this number.  When I called back,all I get is a busy signal.

The call I got today was listed on caller ID as IDL Comm 214-969-5489 and when I answered it said I had a collect call from Mike Rich and to accept it press 1.  It repeated the same message again. Of course I hung up.  I think I will just take this information to the sheriff's office.

Got 3 missed calls today and when I call back it's always busy. Guess it's a scam. I'm blocking my phone to this number.

The call is coming from a correctional center in Louisville, KY.  It's bad to say, but my nephew is there.  He calls us from this number.  If someone you know is in a correctional center, than they may be trying to call you.  If the person in the correctional center doesn't have a phone card and they want you to accept a collect call.  Don't accept any collect calls, as it cost about $1.95 per minute.  I don't know what kind of pay phone that they have to call out on, but it's one of those that is not thru the local phone companies.
