A caller identified himself as Michael Jones asking if he could speak to my brother Ferdinand Usalla and that it's very important for him to call back @ 1 800 828 1110 ext 1788 he only states that it's personal matter and can only speak to him. Since we can't call a toll free number from Guam I was able to get a tel# 215-244-4200 which I called and found out that this is National Creditors Bureau a collection company. This is **scam***

i have received multiple calls from this crap hole number. I have called them back once before and told them to stop calling. Received a call just now. I want to cuss them out in the worst way. Called them back, but got some stupid recording and no one answered my call in the queue. I wish everyone associated with this fake company would die. period.

I received a letter from NCB.  I called and spoke with a representative at NCB for a past due Chase account.  He was very kind and understanding as far as debt collectors go.  So, for my case, this is a legitimate situation.  Hope this was helpful.

Got 2 calls from this number. The woman said my sister listed my number as a contact. They were very persistent to get info from me. I felt harassed and finally had to hang up.

Thank you very much for the facts.  I have been woken up over the past several wks. now early in the morning.  Once at 2:15 am. 3:15 am. 3:10am and again this morning at 7 am.  I live in Hawaii.  Can you see why I would be upset.  My youngest daughter was awaken at 2:15 am also, and this morning when I stated it was before business hours he asked me if this was an 808 area code.  What does that have to do with it.  Does anyone know who Christopher Zeno is?  And I find it such a coincedence that the other stories have a similiar ring to mine.  Please!  I know about that automatic dialer too.  They would not let me talk to anyone and was forcing my oldest to pay a bill.  So, finally I just paid it.  This is horrible business tactics.

Just got a call from NCB who left a message for a person I know, but who does not live at my house, is not related to me or my family in any way, and to whom I haven't spoken in over a year. I do not plan to return their call or provide them with any information, but I don't want them to keep calling me! Thanks to Mr. Smith, above, who posted some steps people can take in the event of phone harassment. If everyone did, these companies would be shut down or sued much faster than they can make these calls.

Got the call today, did not answer it.  I don't owe anybody any money and I'm not related to any bums (or any bums that know my phone number, etc.). They did not leave a msg.  After reading all this, I will answer next time..and play some head games with the @$$ hole :o)

Called me today asking for "Chris". When I told him that I am not Chris, he very rudely told me "Chris, this phone call is being recorded for quality assurance purposes", as if trying to threaten me. I informed him that I am not Chris, I do not know a Chris, and he hung up. Would not tell me the purpose of the call.

It's not a question of conspiring to hide someone. It's about privacy. Because of their shady practices, I am now aware that a family member of mine has debt problems. I now worry about them but don't feel comfortable approaching them.

I'm sure you must be a debt collector otherwise you wouldn't have made such a stupid comment.

    Authentication
We have received several calls from this company and they are leaving voice mail messages about the urgency of some unspecified situation, asking us to call an 800 number.  We do not answer or return calls from people/places/things that we don't know and/or regarding circumstances that are unspecified in voice mail messages.

***Free advice:  Never give away any personal information to such over the phone.  You do NOT know who you are REALLY talking to on the other end... there is no way to authenticate the person on the other end via the phone.  They are likely mining you for data, and recording your conversation via audio & database.  Anything you say, whatsoever, may have malignant value and may be used against your and/or a loved one.  The phone call may be phishing for personal information for the purposes of identity theft.  Or they may be trying to intimidate you to pay a debt that you or a family member do not owe.  Do not compromise yourself, a friend, or family member by providing personal information over the phone... EVER.  (Or over the counter at a retailer.)  Do not feel bad about refusing to provide personal information or hanging up the phone once they reveal their true intent.  Do not feel bad about NOT answering these kinds of calls.  Do not use your name in your outgoing voicemail message.

...Just some general best practices for phone and email/Internet/social networking technologies.  Never respond.  If in doubt, don’t!

If someone calls for my family member, and they dont know the members phone number or address its probably a scam.  You should never give out someone else's information.  You must be working for a company like that.

Id have to agree with most... I don't have any debt and this company called to speak with "Peter". I don't even know a Peter, but oddly enough I received a text message from 317-717-6024 saying "Peter need extra cash today? You qualify for a payday loan up to $500..."  Weird how both used Peter...

    Any answers out there?
