an email from a match.com guy whose wife died and he is raising a 6 yr old and needs help, Heir to a fortune and in London now while court proceeding go on, the money may be caught up in court so needs money to "relocate" from california to move close to me because he "loves me" after only a week of yahoo IM talk. Can pay back the money when he gets his "fortune" from his deceased mothers estate soon but wants to move NOW to be close to me. Tells me how I can get money from home equity. He "can not get video" on the computer and only had only 3 pictures of himself (a very goodlooking man) because the rest of his pictures are on his computer back home in California.
How did I figure out it was a scam? The number he called me on after asking him to so many times was from Nigeria not from London where he was supposed to be. The voice on the phone was clearly Nigerian broken English and conversation and call kept very short. 1-234-808-298-9899 ETHAN

Do you remember the telephone number Carl Ladd gave you? There is a man by that name that my mother is being scammed by online but she doesn't believe it's a scam, sad actually.

We have to catch these scammer - James Kahn or Greg Collins.  Same story - widowers, wife and child died.  Within one week - ready to move in.  Very scary - preying on lonely women.  If you're on seniorpeoplemeet.com you need to get off this dating site.  Very dangerous.

I would truly like to see photos of this man who says that his Mom in Italy died.  I may have been dealing with the same person here in northern California.  His mobile phone number has NY area code but when dialed forwards to an international sounding ring.  He claims work for Magellan International Investments but google only comes up with a person who retired a long time ago.  He is supposed to fly into San Francisco tomorrow morning.  Supposedly his mother died this morning..."Carmen Mendoza" in Italy.  I feel like a fool.  These stories are all sounding to familiar.  I thought that he had an african accent as I have a brother in law that sounds the same and he is from Samalia (raised in Italy).

I would like to see what your man looks like.

Be very careful as this scammer on match.com is alive and well going right now by Chad Krebs but the same old story - The picture he posted would melt any heart although he said it was of a 62 yr old which was obviously questionable. He never really asked for family/work info but spent a lot of time winning his way into my heart. Grew up in Germany, Masters in Scotland, said he had an accent people think is German. Said he was a SR Fund Investor with Magellan Investments Int'l. Red flags were saying this guy is a good looking professional (and maybe the guy in the photos was) but not the person you are actually talking to. There was no evidence of this person on google or in the white pages, he did not answer direct questions, started talking about me as the love of his life before I hardly knew him. Checked for a person in that city and nothing - I believe he used the user name/email as pony#### and some numbers. Best to set up an email account only used for people you correspond to online but not your regular personal email - give out your phone number with caution if at all. There are a lot of well meaning, trysting open hearted women out there that could be really hurt and after all who needs that.

I have read a number of these messages.  I also joined the site 3 months ago.  The person who flirted with me was Daniel Mark - said he was in Malaysia.  But the same lovey-dovey stuff.  Lost his wallet, needed money.  Wanted $3200 and of course I was not stupid enough to fall for that.  And the website won't respond to my reporting of him.  Maybe they are in on it.  And I had to forfeit my 3 months that was paid up because the guy wanted me to cancel my subscription.  These people need to return our money, ladies.  Let's talk together somehow.  The guy who contacted me did speak good English but had a deep Spanish accent.  How do we all get help with this?

    Thanks for listening.

Yes, I have been very careful on match.com.  Please do not ever give these men any kind of money.  A real person would have friends and family that would be able to provide them money versus “us – strangers”.  These are all scams.  They pull you into thinking they are who they claim to be but they are not.  “My Guy” used the name Hugh Brown (SilverCity2035) and the numbers that he used were:  447-700008952 (phone/text), 447-781479368 (text),  447-781479353 (text), 447-781479382 (text).  At the beginning we chatted over a local number but as soon as I suggested meeting for coffee he had to leave because of work for Margellan/Magellan International Investments as a Fund Manager to New York.  After a week there he claimed that he had to travel with some Fidelity investors to London (Kent to be exact) to address some of their investment needs.  Then while working in London his mother became severely ill, had a kidney transplant, and then died.  And need to stay longer to take care of his mother’s estate.  I never asked him questions regarding money and to date he had not asked for any money.  Being a medical professional I became even more questioning as to his true identity.  When I asked him to get a webcam so that we could video chat on Skype he said that he would check into it but he never did.  Again, this is a warning sign.  Webcams are so cheap and easy to get so if someone says that they cannot use one…run.  Then all of a sudden it was his daughter’s birthday and he suggested that I send her a “token” and indicated that she was looking for a gift from me.  Ha…by now I knew he wasn’t real but I decided to answer back by saying that I would prefer buying her a gift with him when he returned to the USA so that the gift was more personal.  He agreed…Then he called to say that he had to travel through Madrid on his trip back to the USA and got mugged at the airport.  It was good news because he had already purchased his airline ticket.  He didn’t dare ask for money.  As the story goes…he disappeared and communication stopped.  I assume this is because I never discussed money with him.  Women beware there are quite a lot of “frauds” on Match.com.  There are guys that post to your city just to get you talking/IM but when they want to communicate directly (don’t give yours out ever – block caller ID (*67)) they are actually in another state.  I have complained on two additional users to match.com for men who incorrectly list as living in California but live in other states: VanWilder @334-246-7408 lives in Auburn, AL; SWEA119 lives in Syracuse, NY.
I have several friends who have met their husbands/boyfriends on Match.com so it is clear that there are “real” men out there and that the site is legitimate.  Please be smart and meet men of interest after a couple of email messages for coffee.  If they come up with an excuse not to meet…say that you are not interested in continuing communications.  If they cannot meet “locally” they are not real.  Move on.

Same thing happened to me on Facebook.  Johnson Smith Atlanta, GA.  Extremely good looking pictures, but from the start, moved very fast into i love you stuff and quotes from the net.  Said he had to go to Nigeria for road job, and that he needed $5000 so he could send the money to get the equipment needed for the road.  Just general bull crap all around.  As soon as he asked for money, i told him to get lost, but i know that some people will fall for this.  I have sent something into both yahoo and Facebook saying his profiles need to be removed but all that will happen is he will pick up somewhere else.  Women be CAREFUL with these people.

    Dear Melanie,
Michael had also sent me photos and email addresses and we have been writing for some time now.
Same story, his mother died in Italy.  Going to love me forever.  Widow of ten years.  He works for Maxindex International as a Magellan Fund Manager.  We have been e-mailing for approximately 6 weeks now.  I, too, could go on and on.  I unfortunately gave him authorization to act as my fund manager.  I don't know what is happening now.  His name and schooling is the same as he gave you.  I just hope it's not too late and that I have not already been scammed by him with the information I have him.  I, too, have all my e-mails saved since we first started writing beginning of August.

Melanie, please contact me.  My e-mail address is zanithb@aol.com.

    Thank you,
    Zanith
