- kalgot one of those calls again today
if you have caller ID, just dont answer it, they cant talk to a dial tone or as im my case, I let the answering machine pick it up, no message was left, let them waste their own time...I also am on the DNC list, doesnt matter-- chill people, not worth getting upset about. - Tammie GI have recieved about three calls from ABT SRBI - I called this noted phone number within this thread and asked to be taking off the call list. The lady was nice, asked me what state I was calling from, which survey I was being asked to take and said she took me off the call list. Hmmm...I guess only time will tell whether it worked. This is the number I called: (239) 278-4044.
- Caller: ABT SRBI
- taprootABT SRBI (http://www.srbi.com/Home.html) is a telephone survey company, thus they are NOT constrained by the laws governing telemarketers (i.e., the FTC's Do Not Call Registry does not apply to them). Apparently, they are not constrained by simple decency either, as I've now asked them several times to quit calling. The reply I get is that there is no way to remove my number from their autodialer, and asking for a manager/supervisor gets them to hang up.
So, keeping in mind that SRBI does not care one iota about your privacy, and that direct phone numbers and email addresses for upper management at SRBI are listed all over their web site, if each and every person reading this would take the time to subscribe them all to various free porn sites, free gambling sites, free coupon sites, etc. and call their telephone numbers repeatedly, maybe they will take notice. Probably not, but it might work. I'm sure someone diligent enough could also find amny of their home telephone numbers, but I am not suggesting that. Uhnuh, not me...
Pricks!- Caller: ABT SRBI
- dragonThe good thing about being a cell phone only user, is that i can program the number to have no ringer or vibrating. This way, all i would get is a missed call and i won't even know about it until i go look at the phone itself.
I've used this technique several times on various numbers and boy oh boy does it cut down the aggravation. I hope i dont get this number calling me, and i'll be programming it to silent right away. - confusedAfter scrolling through everything on here...I wonder how stupid someone would have to be to say "what the heck is all this calls yikes"
All the info you need to handle these calls is right here...damn do the survey or don't stop crying when the answer is right in front of you. - confusedAfter scrolling through everything on here...I wonder how stupid someone would have to be to say "what the heck is all this calls yikes"

Didn't know who it was and did not answer. I decided to google it and saw all the bad information.
- threads in ILThe caller ID for 239 415 4400 now says "Abt S", and in reading through the many complaints here, it is EXACTLY the same!! They call 4-5 x a day, leaving no msg. I am on the DNC registry. I finally picked up and told them (shouted, really) that I am on the DNC registry and am reporting them. They LAUGHED and hung up. I have tonight reported to DNC, and my local phone company. When they next call, I will be putting a trace on it, AND a police report, as guided by my phone company. I would strongly suggest everyone do the same, as it is the only way to stop them. Oh, and my rep at phone company tells me they most likely are not EXEMPT from DNC, as very very few are. Help me STOP THEM!!
- LiterateOh for crying out loud, learn to read:
Will All Telemarketing Calls Stop If I Register?
If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?
No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls.
Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?
Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of “telemarketing.” Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 .
What about telephone surveys?
If the call is really for the sole purpose of conducting a survey, it is not covered. Only telemarketing calls are covered — that is, calls that solicit sales of goods or services. Callers purporting to take a survey, but also offering to sell goods or services, must comply with the National Do Not Call Registry.

- AnonymGo you Literate!
Here is what I posted about SRBI on another website.
I wish we COULD screen our calls- to people with an IQ above 22.
More often than not, when we call a household, one person will answer and refuse the survey, but when we call again and reach someone else, they will take the survey.
Improving some IE sports television programming may not benefit you directly, but companies need to know about the consumers awareness of programming in order to improve their market strategy ( this includes EVERY product your cell phones, your cars). SRBI also does many government/federal surveys in order understand a wide variety of things such as: the amount of those with and the experiences of those with Asthma, The Health Departments have contracted us to find out about individual awareness of certain illnesses and how they can create better programs for adults and children to increase their awareness.
If you are a REAL American, you might take the time to improve the country.
I bet you all are the same da*n democrats who complain about job outsourcing. Well these sorts of jobs are the types that get outsources! Because of you! Thanks! Thanks for taking away jobs that are held by the elderly or those who are otherwise medically incapacitated. Thanks!
We do call until someone answers. We do not leave messages and sometimes you will get a busy tone when you return a call to the number on your caller ID. This is because we have so many on going studies that you must ask the person on the phone with you for a specific verification phone number. They should give that to you if you need or want it. Also, to verify our company you can stop by the firm in New York, New York or visit http://www.srbi.com
I cannot speak for those who conduct themselves rudely over the telephone, we are monitored and apparently that person wasn't being monitored at the time. But how would you feel if you were in college, trying to make it on your own, forced into this sort of job because employment opportunities are terrible right now, you are required to make a quota for completion, and before you can even introduce yourself or the company, someone wants to tell you how scummy you are, how low your IQ must be, and generally very nasty. All because you are trying to improve how their tax dollars are spent. We are everyday people who receive the same phone calls- sometimes 6x a day or better. I've never been rude to a single one- not even a telemarketer. They have never been rude to me. Karma.
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.- Newtons Third Law of Motion. However, this can be applied to everyday situations.- Caller: SRBI

- anon1This is a special message for "Sick of Ignorance," because I'm sick of reading his or her posts.
You strike me as someone who's either a paid shill for this company. If that's not the case, then maybe you just feel more important when some computerized telephone dialing system "selects" your number and seeks your esteemed opinion about some "valuable" market research gimmick.
Whichever it is, you and your friends at "ABT SRBI" need to understand one simple thing that the hundreds of posts on this site are trying to tell you: We have telephones for our own personal convenience, not yours.
The folks who have complained on this site, like me, don't give a damn how important you think your marketing research is. The bottom line is that we value our privacy more than we value your ability to make a buck by invading it.
Sometimes, too, it's not just a matter of intrusion, rudeness or personal privacy. Let me give you my personal example:
Your friends at "ABT SRBI" call at least once a week. My wife is disabled and she has to have a phone, with the ringer on, next to her bed in order to be able to call for emergency services if she has a crisis or receive updates from her physician. Whenever the phone rings, our hearts jump into our throats. This could be the call we've been waiting for or the one we've feared. Instead, its your friends at "ABT SRBI."
I don't care how important marketing surveys make you feel, and I don't care how much your friends at "ABT SRBI" make at this line of work. In my world, and apparently in many, many other peoples' worlds, your friends at "ABT SRBI" are rude, insensitive and disrespectful.
Yes, I yell at telemarketers. I give them the full double-barrel treatment and I hope it ruins their day, makes them feel bad or angry or maybe gives them even a second of discomfort. They deserve it.
No, they're not just ordinary people doing whatever they can to make a buck. Every person is morally responsible for his or her own actions. At some point, the people who are the cogs in this machine have to consider what they are doing for the lousy pittance your friends at "ABT SRBI" pay them. If enough telemarketers (and that's what your friends at "ABT SRBI" are, plain and simple, no matter how many times you try to "reinvent" them)stop and think, then this parasite industry might just go away.
Telemarketers, stop and ask yourselves "Hey, why is it that so many people are rude to me?" The answer is that what you're doing is hurtful and no one likes it. "Sick of Ignorance," the only ignorant opinions expressed on this blog are yours. Thank you to all of the other folks who have taken the time to vent here. Maybe we're doing something useful...- Caller: ABT SRBI
- Georgia GirlI have CONTINUALLY gotten calls from this number which I have ignored for MONTHS. I decided to answer today to try to put a stop to the calls. When the caller told me his name was DEWEY BESCO and said that he was doing a survey to improve the health of GA residents. He said that he wanted me to answer several health questions. I told him that I did not want to participate and did not want to be called again, that I wanted him to TAKE MY NAME OFF HIS LIST and never call me again. He said that they were exempt from all DO NOT CALL LISTS. He said he was sorry I didn't care and that was the purpose of his survey to try to make people like me care. I told him again that I did not wish to participate and he continued to tell me that the work that they did was VERY important and that the survey would not take much of my time and that I should participate. I FINALLY HAD TO HANG UP ON HIM because he would not stop talking.

- AnonymOh wow, I never realized that working for a business that helps improve government programs or providing market research was morally unethical. Since you have decided to single my life out and not just my work, let me make this assumption about you then. You have never been through any sort of severe financial crisis. Mommy and Daddy probably put you through college ( if you even went) and I bet you had every wonderful opportunity in life. Go you.
But apparently, since we all have a choice in the jobs that we work, because of course, none of us live in small towns, oh and yes we all drive cars that can get us to jobs that are 20 miles away (not me, but many I work with), and since our economy isn't suffering in the work department, and NONE of us have been laid off and have families to provide for, well D*MN! Since none of that categorizes a good percentage of Americans, well none of us should be working "immoral jobs", as you would say.
However, this is where you are wrong. And again, this is where ignorance plays a vital role. My opinion, since we are all free to state it, says this: You live in America, you pay your taxes, you are eligible for welfare, there are many social programs that ARE available to you free of charge ( to those who pay little in taxes and those who thousands), your country has men and women standing by to defend you, your homes, your families, not much is being done, but health care is slowly being reformed, and ten minutes of your time is too much to give back to this country in a government sponsored survey? Get the heck out of America.
Someone is calling about Market Research ( your opinions on certain products)? Tell them that you are giving them a "hard refusal" and to never call your home again. Coded correctly, you shouldn't receive a call.
If your wife is so severely disabled that this phone call bothers her, all you have to say is that "I have a long term illness/disability" and hang up. 4 seconds? If the person who called you codes the call the way it should be, you will never have a phone call again. Of course, due to the severe laziness which plagues our country, and the inability to communicate, this was probably way over your head and you just hung up after the person said their name.
I think everybody in America knows that they aren't purchasing telephone services for somebody else's convenience. You really didn't need to state such an obvious fact. What you are doing is purchasing a service which allows you to be contacted. Again, back to the laziness factor in America, if people in this country were more willing to provide cohesion, give their opinions, and put effort into changing the things they want to be changed, SRBI would be out of business, and our biggest contractor, our government, wouldn't ask us to help them. There you have it! No more phone calls. If you want to put SRBI out of business, that is what you should do. A little bit of brain power goes a long way.
Back to your assumptions about me. Do I think this is the most important job in the world and that I am a better person for it? Heck no. I hate this job, but since it is the only job available to me at the hours I can work while going to school ( day, night, and labs) for a career that will help others via the medical field, I take it seriously and I do my best. Then again, apparently since there ARE hundreds of jobs at several locations are available to me, you wouldn't understand this.
I say most of the people who we contact are just ignorant of what we do, you are just plain stupid and egocentric in regards to me, others, or anything going on in the country besides yourself. Good luck in life. - called 2x so farCalls about 6:30 PM I don't pick up

- KenThey called on behalf of A.I. DuPont Childrens Hospital for a quick survey. I was somewhat suspicious but answered a few generic questions about the number and age of children in the household. They then asked if any where African American and when I responded "no", they hung up. Made me feel foolish, inconvenienced, scammed and discriminated against all in one fell swoop.

- ChrisI received several calls from 239-415-4400. Caller Id said ABT SRBI.I finally answered and a lady said that she was calling on behalf off washington university and wanted to ask political question of someone 18 or older who lives in my house. She also said that they would send a 10.00 check for answering the questions.
The first question was am I 18 or older. The second question was how many people in the house are 18 or older. As soon as I answered she said sorry we will call back later and hung up.....
Whats up??? - Anonym'Sick of ignorance' here is the deal. If this was really about saving our tax dollars, then stop taking them until the people approve their spending through voting. If you are really a college student then you need to join the real world. Not the idealistic unreal world you live in. If somone knocked at your door every 30 minutes you would have them arrested for trespass or stalking. The reality is that WE pay for our phone lines, not you. WE have the right to say how they are being used. Why would anyone pay for the phone and telephone service just so that YOU could profit from their use. That is why everyone gets so hacked off. It has nothing to do with ignorance. The only ignorance is yours for taking such a condescending position against the people you are calling. If you want to poll everyone you need to do what the Nielson ratings do. YOU pay to install polling boxes in the homes of the willing participants. If you disagree, provide us your home address so we can start ringing your doorbell from 8:01AM till 9:59PM every 30 minutes including weekends. Stop defending companies that profit from intrusion into our homes and cell phones. The interesting thing is that I actually do participate with various polling and survey companies but only the ones for which I SIGNED UP FOR.
