These morons have called me for the last 3 weeks, mulitple times a day.  Day before yesterday, I started blowing a coaches whistle into the phone.  Anyone who knows about these things, knows they are LOUD!   Yesterday there was only 3 calls.  Each time, I blew the whistle.  Oh, it's such FUN!!!!  LOL!!!  Here is is almost 4 pm today and so far...no calls!  But...rest assured, if they call back, my whistle is at the READY!!!  Since I live alone, it doesn't matter what time of day or night they call.....I can blow  and blow and blow and not worry about waking a soul!  Oh how I hope there are some deaf survey takers out there now!  hee hee hee hee hee hee

They have no business calling after 9:00 p.m. especially on a Sunday. They called me at a number I've had for more than 10 years but is not used for doctors, banks, or anything of the like. Its a second line number used mostly for out side calls.

    Ms. Daisy
I received a call from this number several times.  When I answered, the man said that he was doing a survey on nutrition.  I decided to participate since I have health problems.  He asked me was I the head of household and if I was a registered voter.  When I said "yes", he said that was enough and hung up the phone.  I was unable to reach him at the same number.  Is this a scam?  Am I in any danger?

Complainers really need to stop replies to Honest John

Honestly, stop being such a wimp. I worked for the company about a year ago and it's not nearly as bad as you and many others claim. This isn't entirely directed at you specifically, but more at you and everyone else on this website who complains about the phone calls.

1.) Sorry not everyone in the world has an opportunity to get a great job while attending college, it's a job that pays and that is something that isn't easy to find in this economy. If you don't wish to speak, either don't answer the phone or don't answer the survey, it really is that simple.

2.) That entire paragraph is rubbish and not true. At any time during the call you can ask to be removed from the calling list and who ever is conducting the survey MUST remove you from the list, or they can face potential violations that lead to a termination.

If you do happen to have someone who doesn't remove your name, call the nearest center and tell them that the last person who conducted your interview refused to remove you from the list (they can see which employee last made your call) and then ask the manager to personally remove your number from the calling list, again it's really simple.

Above all though, what really boggles my mind is how you can claim that this is SUCH a disturbance to you, yet you have the time to go on the internet, find a site with a bunch of complainers such as yourselves, and then take the time to write out a paragraph explaining what BS it is that you are getting called. Here's a hint, why don't you take the time and effort used to complain about these calls to actually answer the damn survey, they really don't last more then 5-7 minutes, IF THAT. Most that I conducted were over within 2 minutes or so.

Although I no longer work in this field, still to this day I answer surveys through the phone whenever I am called on my home number. It's a good way for companies to improve products/service and it can be useful for the person to gain more knowledge about a service that can be offered to them. I've helped improve many people's lives while doing various metro/am-track studies just by telling customers that they can take more efficient routes to work that will save them money.

I used to work at SRBI and I have come across this every once in a while.  It's an honest mistake, and a result of a computer system that's older than the dinosaurs, but I agree with you.. it is completely obnoxious.  First of all, the computer dials the number well before we see it... .  It's set so that a certain area is not called after 9pm (the cutoff used to be 10pm).  I always reported it afterwards though, or if I managed to catch the area code before an answer.

In a crappy economy while we're just trying to pay our tuition, yes I worked at SRBI.  And no, to a former comment, that isn't the "boo hoo business approach."  That's just how it works.

Let me just recap some of the more extreme comments on here.

    1) "They said they were calling for the IRS.  So I am reporting that employee to the IRS for fraud."

--Well, considering that the IRS approved a survey to be conducted by companies such as abt SRBI, they said that we can call for them.  Key word is for--or "on behalf of".  Not "for" the IRS.  Big difference.  And, IRS (or the CDC, or Veterans Affairs, et cetra) WANT to make things better.  Otherwise the phone call to your house would not be conducted.

    2) "I work odd hours and I have been woken up by these people a NUMBER of times!"

-- Well, I'm not so sure this is a legitimate complaint, given that the REST OF THE WORLD does not know your schedule.  Do you suggest that we call you at 11pm instead, because maybe you're going to be working the graveyard shift?  Perhaps we could call  you at 10am?  The survey times are centered around the fact that people are most likely to be available between 4pm (or thereabout) to 9pm.  I'm assuming that other people have called you during those hours because they were not aware that you are the center of the unvierse.
I am now working for at a hotel where I also work odd hours.  I still receive phone calls during daylight hours.  I either ignore the phone call, call them back, or just answer it and talk to them.  I do not sit there and scream like a banshee about how I worked until 2am and how dare you call me.

    3) "I am on the DNC list."

-- You might very well be on the DNC list.  You can read their fine print on the DNC registry site.  It does not apply to telephone research surveys such as abt SRBI, nor does it guarantee you that you will never, ever get a call from a telemarketer.  It means that if you get a call from a telemarketer, you can report it to the DNC list.

    4) "They call me multiple times a day."

-- Tell them to never call again.  If they call again, ask to speak to a supervisor and they will remove you.

    5) "They call me allll the time!"

-- Again, tell them to never call you again, speak to a supervisor if necessary, et cetra.  If you just hang up, or if you just say "I'm not interested" it will call you again.  Notice the word "it".  IT will call you again.  Not ME.  Hanging up basically sets you up for another call 24 hours later.  Saying "I'm not interested" is considered a soft-refusal, and a soft-refusal means it will call you again.  Saying "please remove me from your list" or "Stop [***] calling me!" and anything of that nature is considered a hard refusal.  Hard refusals are not called again.  But saying "They call me all the time and I'm sick of it!"  Well, you're probably just hanging up or not specifically telling them to not call you again.  If you are, then speak to a supervisor.
And, I have a hard time believing that they are calling you alllll the time.  Every day?  I'll believe it.  Maybe twice in one night because of a simple phone-computer mistake?  I'll believe it.  Calling you CONSTANTLY?  No.  I don't believe that.  Not even people who get calls from collections are getting these calls "allllll" the time.  Things like "allllll" the time are subjective.

    6) "I blow my airhorn/whistle/etc into the phone whenever they call me!  That'll show them!"

-- First of all....let me get this straight.  You have a device, specifically one that generates a lot of sound--that you use every time SRBI calls you?  So when you receive a phone call, you make a dash for your preferred loud thing?  Really?  Or do you keep it by the phone just in case you get a phone call from them?  You actually took time out of your day (even if it was 5 seconds) to think "[***], I better think of something... A-HA!  I'll just keep this really loud thing by the phone!"  Either way, that's just bizarre and you should probably get a life.
Second of all...  I understand that you're trying to deafen me.  But there is something else to consider  that phones have set volumes.  Something that is louder in real life, such as a whistle, is only going to reach whatever volume is allowed by the phone.  You could shoot missiles into the receiver for all I care.  I am not going home bleeding out the ear because you screamed, blew a whistle, etc., into the receiver.  Nor am I going to be completely traumatized by the end of the night.  If anything, it probably just sounds like a dial-up internet or fax or something of that nature anyway.

    7)  "These g.d. idiots keep calling me and it is so FRUSTRATING!  They are the most annoying people ever!"

-- I'm not just saying this in defense of SRBI, but if you are so annoyed by a phone call, or even a string of phone calls, then maybe you should sit down and think about your priorities.  Annoyances are a part of life.  You can't just eradicate all there was and all there could ever be that is annoying in this world.  I'm sorry.    I get annoying phone calls all the time.  I also get annoying e-mails.  I also see people in my neighborhood not picking up their dog's [***], I find that annoying too.
You could also channel that annoying-ness into something more positive.  Give those SRBI employees a good Rick Roll.  It's entertaining for both parties and everyone wins.  In the meantime, good luck in your future endeavors and try not to give yourself an aneurysm.

And don't get me wrong.... all of these things are not just because I was an SRBI employee.

    I forgot something else.

    8)  "Everyone!  Complain about them as much as possible!  Make us all heard and put them out of business!  Get the feds involved!  Get the media involved!  They are invading my privacy!"

They are not invading your privacy, they are calling you.  God help you if this is what you consider an invasion of your privacy.  Also, most of the "feds" could really care less about phone calls you're getting, especially when they are from a company that is 100% legitimate.  Maybe not always well-run, but legitimate nonetheless.  Other people have more important things to worry about.

To SRBI employee, the day you start paying my phone bill is the day you have the right to use it to conduct your business on it, until then you can stuff your calls where the sun don't shine.  You are low life scum, regardless of the reasons for the calls, get a real job and stop bothering people.
