I have been receiving calls almost every day in the morning and at night. I heard a male voice only one time when I picked up the phone. But the rest of the time no one answers and just hangs up.

Got a call at work, asking for my name prefaced with a 'Bobby' from the NAD Mercedes Benz dealership, asking me about my Benz.  I guess I should have played along and asked them where my new S-Class was at and that I've been waiting since Christmas when I saw John-Boy's shiny new Mercedes commercial.
I had to go out and buy a Toyota because it's close to the same amount of room as my S

What a joke - and they didn't know they had gotten me when I put them on mute at first to listen to who it was.

Caller denied that the call was a "sales call" and identified the company as "National Audit Division."  Hung up when asked further questions.

I read this on the Internet.  Sounds like good advice to me.

    --

Here are some good tips on combating telephone terrorism:

    * Use selective call blocking service to block rogue
calls. Qwest lets you have up to 15 different numbers
blocked at a time. Use area code and prefix to block
all calls from that same area code and prefix. Works
     like a charm.

    * Use caller id, and never answer a call that you don't
     recognize or are not expecting.

    * Use voicemail. If the unfamiliar caller is legitimate,
they will most likely leave a legitimate message if you
continue not answering their calls after two or three
separate attempts to contact you by telephone. It's a
good idea to leaf through your caller id log once a day,
to make sure that no rogue calls rang your phone while
you were out. Rogue callers will never leave a message
on your voicemail, because that can be used as evidence
against them in a court of law should you ever decide
to file a lawsuit against them.

    * Never answer "toll free," "private name," or any other
calls that by default produce a distinctive ring on most
telephone services. "Toll free" calls and such are always
rogue. Collection agencies are notorious for using them.
But they also use regular numbers, so you must be careful
never to answer calls you don't regognize as legitimate.

    * Add your phone number to the national "do not call" list:
     http://www.donotcall.gov/ ; http://www.ftc.gov/donotcall
     See also: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2004/12/dnc.shtm

    * If rogue calls become persistent, turn off the ringers on
all of your telephones. Any legitimate caller will leave
a message on your voicemail. Return their call, and let
them know that you are screening all calls via voicemail,
in order to frustrate and defeat the rogue callers that
are harrassing you. Assuming the rogue calls stop after
a few days or weeks, turn the ringers back on. And if the
rogue calls ever start up again, repeat the same process.

    * Avoid filing any legal action, and avoid sending legal and
binding letters out to rogue callers telling them to stop
calling, and do all future correspondences by snail mail.
Any legal actions against them will tell them that their
reprehensible acts of telephone terrorism are getting to
you. Never give them that satisfaction. Never give them
anything but a phone that never answers when they call.

    * Report rogue calls on the Internet. Google the unfamiliar
ten digit number that appeared on the caller id. If it is
a rogue number, you'll get search links to websites which
are devoted to reporting rogue calls. Report the call on
at least three different sites. If enough reports come in
on any given number or agency, lawsuits are sure to be in
     the works.

    * Never give any personal information out on the phone to
     anyone you don't personally know.

Maybe this helps, I believe this to be the number that called when someone asked me about my recent car purchase within the last week (i haven't bought a car in over a year). They mentioned they were representing Jiffy Lube. NAD may be one of those 3rd party car insurance places that buys their information from places like Jiffy Lube and Flagstop so they can bother us at home. I usually hang up if i don't hear a reply within the blink of my eye after picking up a number like this.

Just got a call for the five thousandth time from them.  Called back and an automated lady answered "Hello you have reached the warranty department.  If you would like to be added to our do not call list please press 1."   I pressed 1 and another automated lady said "this mailbox is full"  God, i wish it would stop.

He asked for "Joe" and I advsd him he had the wrong # and I inquired about the company name. HE BEGAN TO TAUNT ME !!!!!!   saying things like "what are ya gonna report me, am I gonna be on the 11 o"clock news ??? !!!!"

a complaint was immediately filed with the FCC...anyone else who encounters this please do the same !!!

    my guess
my guess is that car dealerships, repair shps and the like have hired a marketing firm that gets paid by the call (all they need to do is make contact), and they get paid. So they don't care about their script (answers and questions).  Just don't answer calls if you don't know the number.

This is an automobile warrenty company.  They claim that they will get the warrenty company that you are currently with to refund your money.  However, first you have to sign up with this company for around 2 or 3 thousand dollars.  I declined their offer, after listening to them for around twenty five minutes.  However, they keep calling everyday.  I called the number back only to hear a voicemail saying "If you want us to add your telephone number to our do not call list, leave your number."  However, the voicemail box is full, so one cannot leave their number to be placed on the do not call list.  I filed a complaint with FCC and I would suggest you do too, if this company repetitively calls and annoys you.

I received a call from this number but no one responded when I said, "Hello." I did *69 to get the phone number, then called it. "You have reached the warranty division. If you would like to be added to our do not call list, leave your 10-digit phone number after the beep." or similar. I left my number. We'll see if they call us again.
