I had a $60 charge to my paypal account with the same number, but didn't show on my paypal history.  After about an hour on the phone with different Paypal representatives, I finally got one without an accent and from the US that looked deeper into the issue and found that one of the companies that I pay a monthly bill to, uses paypal as it accounting department.  They get all payments from phone in customers paid to them from a transfer from paypal.  I was skeptical when I found the charge on my bank account and was ready to take a baseball bat to the person that did it once I found out who did it.  Luckily for me, it was a legitimate charge.

Its PayPal's fraud department. This number is actually theirs - no scam here other than any scams PayPal itself operates. If you call it back, it goes to their customer service department who will give you a song and dance of not knowing why the original call was made. Called PayPal back at a known number and they confirmed that this number was theirs.

I did not get the call then I looked it up on this site to see who it was. I then called the number to see what happened. It logged me in immediately once I provided the last 4 digits of my cc. It then prompted me to see if I wanted to hear my last transaction on paypal. I listened as it told me the last transaction then I hung up. I guess that paypal was verifying the transation to the company that I paid because it was a large amount of money. This seems to be a fraud alert feature and it is legitimate. Kudos to Paypal for providing this kind of back up to its vendors and clients.

The number is also a reference to a purchase made to someone who uses PayPal. I make a payment to site called Winster.com and it comes out as PayPal on my bank statements. So, it's not always a PayPal account you have.

I have three charges on my credit card statement each dated 12-11 and each for $20. [thus total of $60.] transaction description on each is "PayPal GARENAINTER>"
Please help me identify this company or person as I cannot and have no record of
such transactions.

I HAVE THIS NUMBER UNDER A CREDIT CARD CHARGE BUT IT IS A PRODUCT I PURCHASED AND IS FROM A LEGITAMITE BUSINESS BUT I THINK THE PAYMENT WAS THROUGH PAYPAL.

Discover Card statement for December shows Christmas Day purchase of $150.00 to Pay Pal 4029357733. I made no purchase of anywhere near that amount, nor any group of purchases totaling 150 anywhere near that time. My account at Pay Pal shows no such charge. This occurred in the same month I first used Pay Pal for some eBay purchases. I think they have some crooked employees there.

It was the real paypal number found on my credit card account, but all the charges were fraudulent.

The call and $664.00 was withdrawn from my account for an unauthorized transaction. Called to dispute and I'm waiting for
Investigation to be completed to get my money back. My recommendation is to answer when they call or return call quickly!

This was actually PayPal calling to let me know a claim was decided in my favor and that I would get money back.  YEAH!!!  I confirmed by logging in to my email and seeing an email stating the same.  

If you don't trust the number on your cell, call PayPal customer service yourself by going to the PayPal Contact Us page.

Got a call when I added $6,000 to my paypal account.  Credit card companies do this also whenever moderate to large amounts of money are moved around.

They obviously did not ask for login/password or even the exact amount I transfered.

I found that phone on a charge one a dormat credit card i have used for 6 mos, i cancelled both paypal and credit card. this shows me that paypal is not as secured as they claimed, because i only use one charge acct which is from another bank and yet i see a charge a credit card i haven't listed. no calls, thank goodness, but seeing a charge is just as bad. also, i also send spoof charges to their security team, this is the thanks i get?

Btw, paypal NEVER MAKE HOUSE CALLS to verify ANYTHING! so whomever made a call back to phone number, i wish you best of luck you don't get stuck with unexpected charges!

Interesting..  I got a call today from this same number.. The guy said he was from Paypal and was following up a recent trasaction. He wanted to know if the items I sold were mine or someone elses..  I found that a little intrusive and a odd questions to be asking.  Then he proceeds to tell me that they offer "Seller Protection" free of charge...

I was quite uncomfortable with this call and felt like I was being treated like I was being deseatfull.. He said the reason for the call was becuase it was the first time I've sold on eBay.. Far fromt he truth.. I've recently purchased items as well as selling a few thing in December..

Saw an unknown charge on my bank account for $170 with this number attached. Called the number to get more info. Talked to the nice gentleman and he assured me that the charge was flagged in their system and was reversed the same day.

I'd suggest giving them a call if you're unsure about a charge. They were extremely helpful eventhough I didn't have any of my PayPal info (haven't used it in ~5 years).

We had two unauthorized transactions on our bank account via our debit card. This number was attached to the transaction number.

i went to pay pal and purches something for a unlock phone and the next thing i knew i had a 30.00 charge to a porn site that i never even seen in my life.
