I just got the scam too.
I just received a statement for an old Blue card account from Amex that I had not used in like 5 years at least and thought I had closed long ago:
The charges all list the 4029357733 number, and respectively:
3$ for PAYPAL *COFFEEGAMES supposedly for PROFESSIONAL S
13.10, 13.10 and 13.21 for PAYPAL *SKYPE supposedly for TELEPHONE SERV.
All of those four charges totalling 42.41 have been recredited by Amex on the statement where I saw them for the first time.
The charge dates are Feb-24 and Feb-25.
I am closing that account right away and for good....

I wonder if everyone here is using Amex too?

Today I also received a AMX bill,  Profesional S  One Charge made and then refunded.  Then SKYPE Charges were made Telephone Services.   AMX  is aware of this and will be investigating this. Please everyone report this.

I have read all the blogs and I do not feel it is a PayPal fault.  Be careful where you use your cards.  REsteraunts, have the perfect opportunity to get all the information they need for making on line transactions.

Call  Security   at Pay Pal  1888 221 1161  Report the abuse. It is the only way to maybe stop this person.  Pay Pal accounts do have way to track the charges.J2J4

My wife had a few charges to her American Express account from 402 935-7733. They were for SKYPE and PAYPAL.

These people have accessed my bank account - how do I take legal action?

Just rec'd call from that # stating PayPal wanting to confirm current activity; asked the amount & whom paid to.  I told them I only remembered it was o/$200 & gv the name of the Co.  I was quite leery, but they didn't ask anymore questions.  So, glad to find more confirmation on here.

This is Paypal. I'd just transferred $$$ of a large amount from my bank to my Paypal account. They monitor and verify such transactions.

They never asked for anything that would compromise my security. Only last 4 of social, email address, phone # on account, and they told me the amount up front.

They even asked if it was under my wife's name (it is), and needed her verification to talk to me.

I recieved the call, but just as I answered they hung up!!

This number appeared on my credit card statement next to an unauthorized charge of $35. It has nothing to do with Paypal, this number is associated with fraudulent activity.

I have been using Paypal to buy and sell on E-bay but for months they have been taking small debits unauthorized from my bank account, it is adding up. I want to know what I can do to get them to stop and also refund all unauthorized charges. They take their cut everytime I sell something that should be ENOUGH!!!!

i recieved a call from the same # asking to verify some payments on my acct. after i googled the number i became worried. so i called paypal( the  number on the sucure website) and spoke to an agent. it is an actaullly paypal number. the agent I called, new everything that was said in the conversation from the 402935#. so yes this is an actual paypal phone number.

I received a fraudulent charge on my credit card statement. It  stated
PAYPAL*SKYUNIONLLC 4029357733 CAUS. I then logged into my PayPal account to check it out and there was no charge showing on my account. Next I called my credit card company and closed my account. I then called PayPal and even though I could not see this charge, they were able to. They explained to me that someone had fraudulently used my credit card number through their own PayPal account and that is why I could not see it. I now have it in dispute resolution.

i received a charge on my cc from this number as a foreign tax charge,

This number (4029357733 CA) is a credit card scam. PayPal actually called me about a charge of $350 on my credit card. They wanted to know if it was correct. Hell NO! I said. Well, someone's got your cc number, they said. The cc company immediately canceled the account, denied payment for this charge (I am not responsible), and issued a new card. By-the-way, this cc number was listed in my PayPal account. Yeah, PayPal is like walking in a mine field. I closed this damn account immediately. Can't prove that they leaked the cc number, but since PayPal has been around I've briefly had two accounts with them, and each was compromised within a few months. Go figure!

got my visa card charged for $104 listed as "PAYPAL Sunshine200". I don't know these people, I never used my credit card for a while now. This MUST BE A FRAUD. I will call my bank first thing tomorrow morning and dispute this charge.

This phone number's area code shows as Nebraska.

Seems to be a legitimate call from PayPal.

Within 5 minutes of sending 2 payments via PayPal this morning, I got a call from this number.  I ignored it, looked it up online here, called back, and got an automated prompt to enter the last 4 digits of my CC attached to PayPal.  I did not want to give out this information, so I hung up.  It seemed plausible, as I was using PayPal from an IP address that I haven't ever used before.

This afternoon I sent another payment via PayPal.  5 minutes later, a call.  I answer, it is a real person.  She asks if I made transactions via PayPal that day; I confirmed that I had.  She asked if I could tell her what the most recent one was.  I tell her the name of the payee (a company) and the approx. amount.  She had the exact amount (which I confirmed).  No giving her any financial info/SSN/etc.  Seems totally fine.

I'M TRYING TO GET THE COMPANY'S NAME & PHONE #  THAT I PURCHASED SOME MOTORCYCLE PARTS FROM THE 1ST PART OF DEC. 08 .AMOUNT OF TRANSACTION WAS $1653.98, ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.  THANKS ALBERT

I received no phone call from this number, but did receive a charge to my bank account, with the following information as a pre-auth:

I would say it's more than likely a fraudulent charge. Someone has gotten ahold of my, and probably your bank account/debit/credit card information, and ran a charge through, making it look like a Paypal charge, hoping, in most cases, that it will slip through the cracks for those who use Paypal. I would guess Paypal actually has nothing to do with this, as is pretty obvious from people here saying they don't even have a Paypal account. It's just a way that the thieves hope to not get noticed in some cases.

I called the 1800 paypal number and there is no record in my account of any Paypal charges, and the woman on the phone told me that the number was a valid paypal number. I'm sure the thieves are just trying to make it look like a legit charge.

Time to close up my bank accounts and check all other credit information. fun!

Call from Paypal - My account went into the negative because they expired the shipping charge transactions I had through UPS just to recharge them after I withdrew my money, pretty slick of them.
