I received a call from 402-978-7565 more than 15 times in one single afternoon.  
BEWARE!!!  THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!
An automated recording announced I had a relative in the Newton County Correctional Facility who needed to talk with me, and it was a COLLECT call.  I never accepted the collect call but did answer the phone. On one call of the 15 calls, a woman spoke to me and said I must contact Sergeant Ramirez immediately.  To reach the Sergeant, she said I must call extension 72. And, to do this dial *72 and then 713-491-3182 >>> this is a Houston, TX number and *72 is CALL FORWARDING!!  I reported this situation to my phone company who (1)ensured my phone was not forwarded and (2)directed me to report this to my local Police to get a Case# and (3)present my case to the phone company for Blocking of calls outside my Area Code. To end the calls faster -- DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE...LET IT RING and they'll stop calling because they need a person to answer and complete the call forwarding so they can use your phone# to make long ditance calls.

I got a call but I know the person on the other end.  I am not sure if its a scam but i dont know where he is at, he lives in MO but it was a 402 number, i dont know how to find him now.

just got the call.  it was collect from "Joe ,sumthin, sumthin".  couldn't really understand so i hung up.  i thought maybe he was trying to get something more in than his name but couldn't say it fast enough for the recording time they gave him.

rec'd call today August 5, 2008 - asking if I would accept a collect call from "Chris."  I hung up.  Rec'd a call back a couple of minutes later asking if I would accept a collect call from "this is your bro"  I hung up again.

I got a call from this number and it was my son who is incarcerated in county jail. His call lasted for 1 min and 15 sec. This is a good number but it is coming from a correctional facility so you still should be cautious. I know that anyone who is arrested should receive one free call. If you know someone who is in jail then you have to set up a land line account from an inmate collect calling company to accept incoming calls. This is something that you must approved. If I am correct, your regular phone CANNOT authorize inmate collect calls. You must go through an inmate calling company. (ex. Encartele) This is so that you are aware of the accout and for you protection. Anything else is most likely a scam.

I got a call from this number in Houston Tx. I answered and it said I had a collect call from Deputy Johnson ...I hung up...they just called again...blocking this number.

i had got a call from my boyfriend but i tryed to make the phone call  go through because i have a cell phone it wouldn't let me so i don't know whats going on?

AM GETTING TIRED OF THIS CRAP! HAVE REECIEVED 4 CALLS BUT NEVER ANSWERED. I KNOW WHO IT IS. HE IS CALLING FROM TEXAS, INMATE. I'M GOING TO CALL QUEST IN OMAHA TO TRY TO MAKE IT STOP.

Awww guys I'm so sorry so many people are having trouble with this.  In my case it is a call from a jail in Wyoming, from someone I would like to hear from.  It should give you an option to permanently block all calls from the number (I think it's 3, and I don't want to hit it by accident).  In my case the call is $4.50 for the first minutes and $.89 for every minute after that, and the call is limited to 15 minutes. Any attempt to call forward or 3-way should result in termination of the call.  It's just a sad situation.  $17 for a 15 minute call, that is a little excessive for a suddenly single parent.

This number is some how connected to Texas Dept of Criminal Justice and the inmates can use this number to make collect calls...but they are trying to get a message to people instead of leaving their names for the collect call. Inmate calls are very expensive and this is the way around making a call without the receiver paying for the collect call.

Got a call, unintelligible rant, asked to call back to get charges reversed...  I asked the operator, he said the number I was asked to dial is for call forwarding.  Maybe the system will allow someone from a remote location to call forward through my number?  I did as suggested, just continue to receive calls but ignore them.  No longer accept the call, just let it hang.

I got a call yesterday...went to vm. Left no message. I think it was just a random call. I don't expect to hear back again, thankfully.

i've gotten calls from this number about 3-4 times a day since christmas. the name stated on my recording is Edwin. has anyone else gotten this name?

On december 28, 2008 i got a call at 10:28 and picked up my phone, i didnt hear a recording the person hung up right away, then they called back a minute later, i heard the recording but i couldnt get the name..

I got a call from this number at approx 8:30 pm today. I was on the other line and didn't click over. Tried calling this back and a recording says "this is a non working number switch ****" from what I see on this site I am glad I didn't. But I am kind of worried because I do know people in Omaha and used to live in Omaha.

i received many missed calls from this number, so i came online to check it out. i kept reading it was a scam and to not pick up. i finally was at the phone when the call came through, picked up, and it was a relative in jail. so, yes, it may cost a lot of money to start an account, but if you have a loved one in jail who has no other way to reach you this is one of the only ways for them to get a hold of you. the first time they call, you get "complimentary" 30seconds with the caller, so stay on the line for a brief chat. and remember, inmates are often trying to call by memory, so they may be getting numbers wrong, and calling the wrong people but that doesnt mean its a complete scam.
