Here's the final word, from someone with some experience on the subject.  It's not a scam.... it's from someone in county jail trying to call collect, but unless you have previously set up a collect calling account for them to do so, the call will not go through. Information at http://www.encartele.net/.  The caller may not realize that, however, and attempts to call anyway, which at least gets your attention that they want to call you.

Hey I receive the same message. Someone called and said to they were deputy Johnson. As a result, I just hung up the phone. How weird

I keep getting calls from this number saying that it is a collect call from
an inmate in Newton County.  It is a three way call but we have not answered it.

Received a voicemail from an automated system - first said this message is between Lawyer and client and then it gave me options.........

rec'd call at 6:56 on 28MAY10   HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXCESSIVE CHARGES ON PHONE BILL\DID NOT ANSWER CALL THEY LEFT MESSAGE PERTAINGN TO SOME SORT OF LAW FIRM THEN A GENERIC REFERENCE TO THE CALL POSSIBLY COMING FROM A CORECCTIONAL CENTER OF SOME SORT

i got a call from this number this morning did not pick up and heard the recording ! is this really a scamm and how do they get your number being in jail?

SCAM - if you dial back the number they give you, it will allow access to your long distance and you will receive a VERY large phone bill - think $15,000 +  CALL your phone company and report it and try to have them help you with damage control on your billing.

Got a call from this number on 6.20.10 around 3pm.  Call went to voicemail and all it caught was a pre-recorded message about wanting to accept the collect call, blocking the call, etc...
Seems like a bunch of crap to me and a good waste of our minutes!

I got a call from this number for 2 days and the recording sounds like my father.  After reading these posts now I am nervous.  I have talked to my dad and he is not in jail...

I have been receiving calls from this number 2 - 3 times a day almost every day. They never leave a message so I have no idea who these people are.

Got a call today around 2pm on my cell phone. I didn't recognize the number til I looked it up. It is for Accurate Communications. Accurate Communications supplies several states with phone communication for state prisons. I have dealt with Accurate Communications several times due to having people I personally know in Missouri state prisons.

I got a call twice form this number around 4am and once this afternoon saying something about a collect call from a jail. How can I get this number blocked?

Been getting calls from this number every other day for a week now.Dont know anyone in any jail anywhere!

i got a call from this number and it sayd you have a collect call form ____ {ii couldnt understand} then ii couldnt hear what prison .. like wth

my family member called from this phone number.

Rceived two calls from this number this morning, so whoever it is is still playing freaking games which is BS.
The call originated from Accurate Communications which announced it was a call from a correctional facility and the calls were:
Call 1: "HELP ME MAMA!"
Call 2: "Mama! I'M IN JAIL!
I hung up immediately and am now reporting this number to any and every place I can.

We have received many calls from this number 402-978-7565 I answered and was asked to  accepted a collect call from an inmate.I accepted, fearing that someone I knew was in jail.  

What I got was a man telling me to call a Miss Taylor Right AWAY!  Be sure to dial *72, don't forget the STAR! rest of the number was 713-499- 0582.  When I called that number  the recording said it was a disconnected phone number.

While I was talking, my friend got the feeling it was a scam and looked it up on the Internet.  Sure enough it was!

My phone started ringing only once and then nothing.  I called the phone company and after some checking the Qwest tech person called the number and a man answered telling her he wasn't sure why the phone calls had been forwarded to his number.  The Tech removed the call forwarding.  

Soon as she did, the Accurate Communications started calling us back,  Many many times.  This is a scam so Inmates call call the outside for free.  Do not accept these calls!!!!
