I am a legal assistant for an attorney in Missouri. We have an inmate at the Bates County Jail in Butler Missouri who continues to call me and the name on the caller I.D. is "Accurate Communiations" and the phone number is 402-978-7565. This particular inmate is not one that i can just ignore the call because if i dont answer he will continue to call back one day upwards of 50 times. I told him today to call someone else and to quit calling me. He stated he could not call his girlfriend becasue her phone does not accept collect calls. That worried me because i did not realize that i was either, so i started researching this and tried to call the number back and it says it is disconnected so i went online and found this website. I even called the facility and they had nothing to tell me. I just dont know how it can be considered a collect call if it does not ask the person receiving the call if they want to accept or not.

This number called and asked if we would accept a collect call from a prison.  My mother was afraid it was my brother, as the call said it was a DUI.  when she got through, a policeman by the name of Roy Coleman gave her his badge number and told us we were trying to be called by a Robert Simpson.  They said they were sorry for the confusion and to get the collect call charge off our bill, we need to contact the secretary at *721-832-724-3884.  The number forwarded all of our calls to that number.  we had to get the phone company to remove it.  Don't respond to this number!

Call from inmate at "Newton County Correctional Facility" - twice - pressed 1 to accept call, but my phone doesn't accept collect calls.  Researched numbers - and newton county correctional facility actually in several states.  Found this sight and realized it's all a scam -

I got a call from "Accurate Comm", stating it was a collect call from a correctional facility. I hung up.

At 10:37 PM received 2 collect calls from Accurate Communications at 402-978-7565, the first stating it was from Newport Cty Jail, the second from Houston Cty Jail.  I did not respond--hung up and got the second call within 1 min.  Qwest (phone co.)said it is scam!  By pressing 1 or 2, you grant access to your phone # which will then be used for third party calls which are then used mostly for international calls.  DO NOT RESPOND--HANG UP.  I was assured they cannot gain access to your computer.  Phone # changes all the time.  Let elderly&  vulnerable adults know about this as they are the ones mostly targeted.

We have gotten several calls from this number...Just don't answer it, according to Google.com....It IS A SCAM of some sort....

I received a call from this number at 630 pm.  The call went to voicemail.  The message that was left was just a partial message as it started the moment my phone picked up.  The message says "attorney and client.  If you wish to accept this call as a collect call ple"  The call dissconects then.  I don't know anyone who is in prison so after some research this is the conclusion I have arrived at.  This number is a general number used by several prisons and state jails in the mid west.  If you know someone who is in jail it is most likely a legitimate call.  If the caller asks you to call any number that starts with *72 then it is a scam.  *72 is the code most company's use to forward calls.  The scam works like this.  You get a call from this number asking you to contact someone (in prison or some type of emergency).  The number you are told to call is *72 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx.  By typing in this number in your phone you are forwarding any calls you receive to the phone number 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx.  The person who called you and asked you to call *72 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx then calls back, your phone automatically forwards that call to 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx and they speak for free.  Often times the number you are asked to call is international or some sort of pay per min call.  YOU will receive the bill for these calls.  If you have been duped by this scam the answer is simple, just dial *73 and turn off call forwarding.  You may also want to discuss taking care of any incurred charges with your phone company.  Hope this helps anyone with questions.

I received a call from this number and a male voice saying "I love you, -----", then an operator said would I accept a collect call?  if so press 1 so I did, but comcast won't allow collect calls.

This number has been continously calling me everyday for the past week! I have not answered because I don't know anyone in that area but I get a voicemail about a collect call. How do I make this stop!? It is so annoying! & anyone know how they got our numbers??

I received four of these calls yesterday (11:30am, 11:34am, 11:46 am and 2:45pm).  The first three had gone to voicemail (since I wasn't able to answer my phone).  I heard the message that was left (like someone posted on the previous page).  I do not know anyone currently in jail.  I didn't answer the last call either and the same message was left.  Not really sure how my cell phone number was provided to whatever company this is.  I don't plan on answering if this number shows up again.

Got this call 2x yesterday.  The answering machine picked up, so I didn't catch the person's name who called.  I only have one friend that I know of in the Nebraska area and was really freaked out.  I called Douglas County Corrections, the NE State Pen, Accurate Communications, and my local phone provider.  Nobody knew anything or where the number was even really coming from.  When I tried calling the actual # back, I found that it can not receive calls, just send.  Good to know it was a hoax, but still, who does this?

I received a call from this number at 6:54am. I do not know anyone in jail and have no idea how they got my number. My voicemail did not catch all of the message unfortunately. The messages just says this is a collect call and notes nothing about a *72, it just says to push 1 to select..... From the looks of the messages posted, it seems as though it's a scam or an actual prisoner. I'm going to see if the number tries to call me again and just continue ignoring it. If it becomes a reoccurring issue though I'm going to have the number blocked.

Who is calling from this number....hard to understand

I got the call from the same number stating this is a collect call from "______ correctional facility", they spoke to fast for me to hear it, followed by will you accept the call from (then a male voice saying) "hey its me"... then a few choices on pressing 1-2 or 3. Im not taking this BS, the number was immediately blocked! How are these people getting our numbers?

Its not a scam if you know someone in jail.That is the company they have to call through.Its kinda like prepaid.You call the company and sit up time on your phone for 20 to 40 $ Then the inmate gets a 15 min calls anywhere from 3-6 depending on your location.Thats not to say that inmates can't run scams on this but it really could be someone you know.

I have received 3 collect calls from this number Feb.26  in afternoon

I got a call from this number this morning saying it was "officer jones" from a correctional facility, he told me there was a guy picked up for DUI and that he gave this number as an emergency contact, I told him I didn't know anyone by that name and told him he had the wrong number. At first I was scared that something had happened to a family member or friend and that's the only reason I accepted the call in the first place, but after telling him he had the wrong number he told me they pick up a lot of people that falsify their information. He told me to call this number to speak with a dispatcher to take my number off their investigation report the number he gave me was *721-832-514-0784. after I called it, it gave me a funny dial tone and now all the calls coming to my number get forwarded to some ladies house. This IS a total pain in the ass SCAM!!!!

this call keeps coming to my work phone, of all places. same info as everyone else is getting, some guy in jail wanting us to pick up the phone. guess life in prison must be pretty boring if he has nothing else to do but dial random numbers across the country to see who picks up.

Male, deep voice.. quickly says please help me before they ask if i want to accept the charges.
