Report a phone call from 416-861-9381 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Beware Mr.Prankster - we are on to you!| 1 replyThe numbers (416)861-9381 & (416)751-4382 are being used by the same person to continuously harrass unsuspecting individuals.
The first thing you need to do is STOP answering calls originating from these numbers - he is looking for attention, don't give him any.If the calls continue, this includes 'private callers' as well, call Bell Canada (416)310-BELL (2355) explain the situation to them including how many times he has called your number. If the numbers are not theirs they can tell you which phone company is using these numbers - e.g;Rogers,Primus etc.
It is a good idea to keep a call log of every call he makes to your number - keep a pad of paper by the phone and write the time of the calls e.g;3:02pm,3:05pm,3:07pm etc etc.
The phone company may advise you to contact the police - PHONE HARRASSMENT IS ILLEGAL! - annoyedGot a call from this number today on my cell. I was working so I didn't answer and no message was left. Don't believe them if they say it's Bell Canada, my husband works for Bell and they do not harass people.
- ommarepeated calls -no name- do not leave message
- Tim| 1 replyI ended up here because a customer of ours sent me this link. The number came up when we forwarded a call to them through our phone system. I operate a digital PBX phone system, which lets us do a lot of neat things, like set the outgoing caller ID name and number to whatever we want. There was something not set up quite right in the routing, and when we called out, sometimes this number would show up on their cell phone. It turns out that we weren't sending the correct from: number when we placed calls, so their cell phone company was just displaying an unrelated number for whatever reason. I did a lookup on this number, and it is assigned to a Bell Canada switch in Toronto.
Based on some of the other caller ID name and number combinations that people have left in this post (like asterisk, etc.) I'm fairly certain that these calls are coming from someone who has set up a VoIP phone system. It's most likely someone overseas who has ordered a pre-paid VoIP account from a Canadian provider, and their are using it to try and scam people.
The sad thing is, there could be someone (maybe not now, but eventually) that actually owns this number, and they will get in a lot of trouble because of someone else.
Caller ID means absolutely nothing - it's about as valid as the return address on a letter. It can be set to anything you want if you have the right equipment and the right connections.- Caller: Myself
- midtownAm in Toronto, just called at 5:45 pm. Woman with Indian (?) accent asked for me by name (so they are going through the phone book?) and told me she was with some alarm firm - could not catch the name of the firm and wanted to know if I had an alarm system. I told her I an on DNC list and now had the name of her firm. I asked to remove me from her call list and said I would file a complaint if she phoned back. She seemed a bit confused by what I said but indicated that my number would be removed. I will block the number.
- Caller: Not sure
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Super coolThis number is being from people who are you using VOIP of almost any type. It could be local, or over seas and any type of scam. Best not to answer and if they are legimate they will leave voice mail.
- Whatever| 1 replyJust called and there was no one on the other end. Caller ID was a few letters and bunch of numbers. Put the phone down on my desk and left it there. After about a minute the line went dead. Must be some way to stop these people. Can they put a phoney number in the Caller ID? If not, couldn't the phone provider just trace who owns the number and shut them down? Doesn't seem to be anyone really trying to put a stop to this.
My guess from the previous posts is that this person is just searching for information they can use in some way. They can get your number, name and address out of a directory. However, if they say you've won a prize or they're with Bell or whatever, they might get you talking and get you to give out personal information such as where you bank, SIN number, credit cards...who knows. The thing is, this has got to be profitable otherwise the person wouldn't keep doing it. So, if everyone just hung up, it would be a waste of time for them. I guess there's still enough gullible people in the world to keep them calling. - maximus_786| 1 replyI just got a call from the same number but I did not pick it up, however when I tried calling the number back it is saying "this number is not in service."
- Caller: n/a
- jack| 1 replyJust received a call from this number 416 861 9381. caller I.D said "Anonymous" jan 27 9:46 pm. I answered to a very strong, almost fake russian accent. the man called me by my first name and mentioned that he needed to speak to me. I hung up immediately and tried calling the number back. Apparently the line is disconnected :S

- wrisal replies to TimThank you for this information. Especially that about call display. I wondered if it could be spoofed since it can so easily be blocked using codes the phone companies provide.
It should come as no surprise that some brainiac would find a way to use this for scams.
I wonder if there is ever going to be equipment to allow the average phone user to selectively block calls based on number of times a call comes and has been proven a nuisance.
Would you happen to know if such a call blocking unit is produced or who makes one? - wrisal replies to WhateverGood points,Whatever.
I don't want to think of the number of times I have filled out seemingly routine information on online websites such as job banks, on line purchase of software or to try some service that requires certain iD to become a member where you have no idea what they can do with the little information given.
Plus anyone who uses Facebook already knows how easy it is to have private information become public
The junk mail a person can get everyday directly mailed with your correct address and name is more proof how easy it is for scammers and telemarketers to find info on people. - Wrisal replies to maximus_786Same happened for me Maximus_786
Used to answer my phone all the time for friends or whatever not anymore. I constantly screen and advise
others in my family to do the same. See if caller identifies themselves properly before picking up.
If they keep getting a machine they'll give up and move on somewhere else. - Wrisal replies to jackJack:
This has got to be a spoofed number because doesn't it take a bit of time to have the phone company
disconnect your service ..unless the caller hasn't paid their bill for a long time maybe.
I don't l know much about Skype but this has also been suggested as a likely source for the calls. - Annoyed07| 1 replyAlert Alert Alert Alert Alert Alert Alert

- Anthony replies to Patches43caI tested this out. Apparently this # 416-861-9381 if from people calling via Skpe online. So it could be anyone who calls in using Skpe and indicating through Skpe that they are calling from Canada.
Glad to be of service. - SDI got a phone call from 10000123456 first, I believe it was the same number that called me 3 days ago and he claimed he was from Bell Canada, persistant and pushy too. I immediately told him as i always do politely to remove me from the calling list it took about 7 tries the first time but then he said fine. today we got called from both that number and 416 861 9381 SAME GUY, i was alot ruder this time and he hung up on me, no more than 2 hours later he called back and spoke to me boyfriend demanding he know which service provider we were with he basically told him to go to hell. one minute later he called back so I answered and continued telling him i would call the police about harassment, i asked to speak with the supervisor he told me no, i was really getting mad, but finally i spoke to a "supervisor" he told me they would stop calling, i really doubt that. Several years ago when i was just finished high school one of these places called me then just kept calling me for personal conversations, i got extremely scared, becareful dont give your information to anybody, and if at all possible paid your phone company to have your number and address not listed in the phone book, this creep knew my address without me even telling him and claimed he had even seen me, he did stop when i said i was going to call the police, i guess that always a good threat, that number i traced to a small town near scugogg. I really dont know where any of these are coming from but know that bell and rogers and any respectable company will not interupt you and it should only take once of asking to not be called and they will not cal you any more!!!
- Caller: "Bell"
- Call type: Telemarketer
- straight talker replies to Annoyed07sorry bro... if you get a call and start sending money to people, you are an idiot
- CopperSo, here it is Friday night at 10:35 PM and this # comes up on my cell, which is unlisted and on DNC.
As a rule, I never answer unknown callers. If you're smart, you would not answer unknowns either.
This lowlife is obviously looking for vunerable people to take advantage of. Next time they call, I'm going to to pose as a senior and bust this asshat once and for all! - Eva replies to D. JohnsonScam maker-I think you wanted to say?
I received phone call from this number many times and asked him for more understandable speach, because they have pitchy speach.like the voice of midgets in children theatre.
Why they do not work upon their English.?
