Today, 7/19/16, an apparent attempt was made to steal my identity. The call came from a woman who said she worked for Citibank. The number she called from was 423.467.6460. Her contact number is 888.201.4523. I called the number and it says that it is a “bank card center”. She said that someone had attempted to open an account in my name and she was asking if I had applied for credit. I said no. She then said she would need to reject my application and needed my address to send the rejection letter. I asked her if she knew the address of the person that was applying for the application. She said she did not have access to that info right then. I commented and asked why my credit needed to be affected because a person different from me applied for credit under my name? She said she was sorry, but she needed my address to send the rejection letter. I told her she can figure it out for herself and I told her that she was the one who appeared to be the scammer.
I asked IDShield, and identity theft prevention company I subscribe with, to follow up and help with the issue.

Got a voicemail from this # (423)467-6460; very hard to understand the lady's accent. She claimed to be from a bank (Citicard?) wanting to check on some activity on my account. Gave a different number to call back, asking that I provide my account number when I called back. Not gonna call 'em, as this appears to be a scam.

Recv'd call today saying they were checking because first Sears customer service had recv'd 6 calls in July-August time frame. Man's name was Jeff and he spoke with a heavy oriental accent. Them he changed it to best buy. However he did not give the correct last 4 numbers. On that card. He asked me to go to www.online.onward.gov or something very similar.

got the call and voicemail and the lady on the phone directed me to call another number which i called and pressed option #1 and something about a rebate was mentioned. i hung up after that and called citibank.. do not give that number any information. she is a fraud- she used citibank's number to leave me the voicemail. sounds like some indian lady with an accent. ppl are disgusting and i hope she rots in hell.

Called citibank asked to be transferred to fraud dept for an ongoing issue and i get transferred to a lady named Elsie. She asked me to verify my social and my husbands which does not happen when i call the bank so i knew this was a scam. I cannot belive from me calling the number to my bank spmehow i got transferred to this fraudulent person. Time to switch banks. Beaware of this phone number she called me back after i hung up.

Just rec'd a call from 423-467-6460, Jefferson City, TN, said they were trying to verify an address, lady said she was from CitiBank. I told her the person she was calling on was deceased. She hung up on me.

I also recd. a call 423-467-6460 on Nov. 21, 2016 leaving a message to call back, it was urgent! A female sounding oriental and hard to understand. Of course I did not call back. Checked out the phone number, a scammer!

Got a call from "Citi" claiming our Home Depot card had not been shipped as they needed a company letterhead with card # and authorized signer's name faxed to them at 800-266-7308.  Called the number back and got voice mail.  Obviously bogus.

Said fraud dept. Couldn't understand as accent was very heavy. Phone number on caller ID said from CITI.

Could be Citi but scammers display this number to pretend to be Citi. Hang up and call Citibank using the number on your credit card or bank statement if you have any accounts with them. My calls were actually from Citibank alerting me to potential fraudulent charges. No one asked me for any information. If you don't call them back they may freeze your account to prevent theft.

Called on 2/12/17 Saying she was from the Sears fraud department, and there was fraudulent activity on my husband's Sears MasterCard.  We do not even have a Sears card, and they called my number instead of his.  She gave an 800 or 888 number to call back, but I will not be calling.

Just received a call from this number. The man stated he was following up on a credit application and the company name was tractor something another. He was very persistent on questioning me repeatedly (trying hard to get me to say yes to his questions) I finally said I'm not giving you any info so do not call again. Not even 8 mins later a women called from the same number. Didn't even give her chance to talk! I just stated "Do not call my number again scammer) and then I blocked the number on my phone. Hope the FCC or whoever handles this scam crap finds a solution to get rid of these people.

Received a call from this number. They left a message saying that they are an early fraud warning from Citi Bank. Sometime yesterdayand earlier this morning, someone got access to my citi account. They rang up a few charges. Which made the card alert send me a text message. I spoke to citi bank. They cancelled my card. Now I'm receiving a call from this number saying they are fraud alert. Contacted Citicard back and they did not reach out to me. Plus the number that these people called me on, the real citi bank doesn't even have that number.

It may have something to do with fraud on Citi card. I had unauthorized charged on my citi MC on Sunday. I learned about it when I logged on to my account online - the front page showed me the charges and asked to confirm they were mine. They were not. So I filed the report online. Then I called citi on the phone and they again confirmed the charges aren't mine, closed the account, and explained what's next. Then on Monday I received the call from this 423-467-6460 number, but I didn't answer and they didn't leave any messages.

To anyone who got the call from this number - I'd recommend CHECK YOUR CREDIT CART ACCOUNTS, particularly from Citi, for fraudulent transactions.

I also got a call from Clarence on this number. I wouldn't answer his questions and hung up. I called CitiBank fraud department. She assured me this number is for their fraud cases to follow up. Now I think she lied to get me to go away.

I also got a call from this number.  I was completely convinced that it was a scam because the woman called from Citibank about "my account" but I have three accounts with them.  I was like - I'm NOT going to be fooled by this.  Then she gave a call-back number that wasn't the same as what came up on my caller ID.  Big red flag.  Instead of calling back, I called the number on the back of my Citibank credit card and told them I thought this was a scam but I figured I'd call anyhow to make sure everything was OK with my card.  It turns out that Citibank HAD, in fact, called me.  Apparently there's no central number that comes up when they call.  There WAS a fraud alert on my account, and they were calling to talk to me about it.

Due to fraudulent activity, Citi canceled my card last week and issued a new one.  I got a call from someone saying they were from Citibank Security Investigations and were calling about a disputed charge.  Caller ID showed the call to be from 423-467-6460 and the call back number given was 866-442-7479.  I called the number on the back of my card and  spoke to a regular rep and then to a rep in the fraud department. Both told me there was no record of anyone from Citibank calling me today.  She took both numbers and said she would initiate an investigation.  She also gave me a fax number to report it: 904-954-7820.  My guess is that the people reporting that the number is legitimate may be part of this scam because I once asked for a direct dial number to the fraud department and was told you can't call them directly; you have to call the number on the back of the card and they will transfer you.

Got VM.  Same issue of difficult to understand person regarding which card and mentioned issue of irregular activity on card.  I did not call back, especially since different callback number.  Thanks for all the other posts

I received a message from someone saying that Citibank had noted what may be fraudulent charge(s) on my account and to call them back at (800) 386-6624.  I checked my account on line first, and noted that there appeared to be over $1300 in fraudulent charges in the last week (mainly in Chicago and NY), and went through the process online of closing the account, identifying the fraudulent charges, and requesting a new card.  I then returned the call~ the woman's accent was somewhat difficult to understand, but she noted a questionable charge of $49 at a fast food place, not the (2) charges for $628!  She seemed disappointed to find out that my account was already closed, and asked for further information to verify that it was me (the card holder), including the security "word" on my account, and my cell phone number (which I declined to give).  She then asked if I had other accounts with Citibank which, if she was from Citibank, she should already know, so I hung up.
