Called me in regards to a credit card that I don't even own.

report it to donotcall.gov. they have been calling me for years and i dont even have any credit cards.

Recorded Rachel, going through the Florida numbers. I pressed 1 for do not call again, I very much doubt this will have any effect.

Yep I'm in Florida  just got the call said they owned all the Credit card companies and wanted to reduce my rates  wanted to know which cc was casuing me problems-  I have noe so asked her what she had - She hung up  SCAM

Just received 2 calls from this number. Both times the caller hung up after one ring. I live in Florida near Tampa and I am on the DNC list. They must be randomly going through Flroida numbers.

I keep getting a  call from this company & i am sick of it the  DO NOT CALL LIST  apparently doesn't work for i am  on the do not call list but somehow this call still gets thru on the caller ID it says woodburn orgeon 503-902-8479  they called this evening at 4:23 pm how  do i stop them from calling they are becoming abnoxious

Me too.  When the phone rings it is an indication some one wants to talk to you... NOT a damn obligation to answer the damn thing.

Got a call today April 5 2012 .Caller ID showed Pacifictel .Have  no idea who these people are .Did not leave a message . They can go to hell for all I care .We are also on the DNC list. I guess it does not mean anything.

The national pandemic of telephone terrorism perpetrated by desperate criminal collection agencies is because they are trying to terrorize people who are naive enough to answer and submit to unsolicited telephone calls or written "collection" letters that have no legitimate legal debt associated with them or any of the companies, universities, or whomever else they claim to represent. Because most "little guys" were bankrupted by the criminal Wall St / Congress / Big Oil / Big Bankers / Big Business / Military / Robber Barons, so the desperate collection agencies are attempting to collect unpaid debts from innocent people by terrorizing them into submission.

Word of advice. NEVER answer any calls you don't recognize or are not expecting. Use selective call rejection service if available, or switch to an Internet-based telephone service which provides comprehensive call rejection options. If rogue calls become chronic, turn off all the ringers on all of your phones except one, and set its volume to the minimum setting. If you don't answer the call and the caller is legitimate, they will usually leave a voicemail after the first or second try. Rogue callers almost never leave voicemail messages because that could be used as evidence against them if it came to a lawsuit. If you receive a rogue letter in the mail warning you of some "collection" action against you, if you don't actually owe it, reply with a short letter stating that you don't owe it. Or if you do owe all or part of it, reply with something like "You claim I owe you a debt. Under §809 FDCPA, I request validation of this debt."

Only give them your name as THEY have written it to you (e.g. “John Doe” not “Jonathon Q. Doe” or however you normally sign your own name), address, and the account number they report. But if you do not owe the debt (zombie debt, aged debt, mistaken or stolen identity, forgery, etc.) state that you have never done any business with them or with the (alleged) original creditor of any kind and you expect the collection agency to close the matter, stop harassing you and take any bad credit marks they've caused off of your credit rating, and furthermore, that any further contact from them must be in writing on their official business correspondence letterhead. Send your letter to them a.s.a.p., always within thirty days, first class certified mail return receipt requested. If they refuse it and you get the letter back unopened, leave it unopened and save it in your files as evidence against them should they pursue legal action against you. If they did receive it and continue to pursue action against you, let them. The judge will throw it out of court. If the rogue collection agency sells your account to another rogue collection agency just tell them the claim has been proven invalid and offer to send them a copy of your letter to the previous rogue collection agency.

Warn all your friends about this rash of desperate collection agency terrorism, and how to combat it. Knowledge is power. The more you learn how to combat rogue collection agencies, back-taxes scammers, phishing scammers, "faith and family" scammers, political action committees and other low-life flimflammers, the more you will learn how easy it is to do.

Above all, keep a record of everything, of every rogue call w/ caller ID information displayed including time and date of each call. Maintain a complete file on any snail-mailed intimidation from rogue collection agencies, including copies of all correspondences and postal receipts. Reporting rogue calls on sites like 800notes.com, whocallsme.com, phoneowner.info is a great idea too, because many people find these sites by googling for the rogue number(s) after receiving calls from them.

I get these calls several times a week (yes, I'm on the Do Not Call list), and when time permits I press '1' to speak to one of their phone scammers. These people are very sad. I pointed out that what they were doing was illegal, and unleashed a barrage of obscenities from the girl on the other end. She told me that I was a [***] with nothing better to do (than give her a hard time), and I reminded her she was the one with the job making these illegal calls. She closed with 'Have a nice day, [***]' and hung up. One day, companies like this will cease to exist because the people who work there will have all died from shame.

So, when you get them, press '1' and say, "You do know that you're probably going to end up in jail for doing this, right?" and they will either hang up or curse at you, at which point you should laugh and laugh at their impotent rage until they do hang up, because it will be time for them to make their next scam call, those sad pathetic phone scammers.

Called my parents house and told me I was an idiot when I asked what card company they were calling from.  It's a scam.

Received a call from this number, did not answer it since I didnt recognize the number.  Pacifictel was on caller id, they did not leave a message.

Caller ID said "PACTEL"  I don't know who or what that is but I'm on the DNC list for years now but still keep getting these calls.  Oh well, another # goes on my blocked # list.

I've received two calls already this morning.  The messages say this is my final notice.  Caller ID says Pacifictel.

I received a recorded message, call from 503-902-8479 the recording was eagerly urging me to apply for a lower interest rate on my credit card.  It then went over to a customer care person.  I asked the person for which card are they calling about?  He could not tell me. He said that they handle Master Card, Discover, Visa and American Express. I asked him to give me his number so I can call him or his company back.  He said he does not have it and to look at my caller ID.  I told him I do not have called ID.   I told him I was not comfortable with this call.  He said he understood how he too is a card holder.  I hung up.
I did a *69 and the number above was given to me.  I called it and the recorded message was," If you no longer wish to receive these calls press 1.  I did not press 1 and then the recording said, "your number has been removed from our calling list, goodbye."    WATCH OUT!  
I called my Discover card and there are no lower interest rates available for my acct.  The person who I spoke with at Discover told me this is how these scamers get your personal information out of you by telling you there is a lower rate for you.  Then you give to them all your card info to get the lower rate!

If this is true in what they are doing I hope they will burn in Hell!

Seems a person has to watch out with every little thing they do today so as not to be scammed some way.  Its a sad and scary world in which we live today!

I got a call from this number. When I answered it was already half way through the recorded message. Pressed 3 to be removed but after reading about this number I realized that was a mistake. Called the number back. Automated message instructs you to enter the phone number you want to be removed. Did nothing, 10 seconds later the message told me that the number I entered had been added to the do not call list. ??? I didn't enter any number lol. Did some more research and found someone saying that it was related to the Delta Outsource Group. Called them up and was hung up on the 1st time. Called back and spoke to another rep who asked for my phone number and then told me that my number was already on their do not call list. I have never spoke to this company before so I do not know how I got added. I am not on the National DNC list. The next time I get a call from these people i will give them false info and have them go through their whole script thinking they have a fish on the line. At the end i will tell them, "Thank you for wasting my time, just wanted to let you know all the info I gave you is false and have successfully wasted your time, have fun in jail when the feds come knocking on your hotel window."
