I live in central North Carolina and was awakened early this morning by a phone call which showed up as 503-902-8479 and Pacifictel. I called back and got a recording saying to enter the phone number of the phone you don't want called. I hung up and immediately did a Google search on the number and found this forum.

Same thing I get every time they call... which by the way they always says is MY LAST CHANCE! Geez, go away already!

this company is calling even though we do not do business with it and we are on the do not call list.

I also received a call from this number 503-902-8479 and I live in Atlanta, Ga. They wanted to lower my interest rate on my home....

I too have been dealing with this crap. This company is an obvious scam company. the number is 503-902-8479. Same Rachel with member card services wanting to lower my rate. I stayed on the line to talk to someone and he hung up on me. I called the number back, I get this recording to enter the number you wish to remove from the call list, if you type nothing in but in about the time frame it would take you to enter your number, you will get a bogus message of your number has been successfully entered into our no call database. It is totally a phoney scam. Please do not fall prey to these people. I have been entering # 3 to remove myself for years. I just worry about those who just might be in a bad situation and bite and give out their credit card number. Pacific Tel is a communications company they are just using their service to scam through.

I *69 got the number 503-902-8479 same recorded message we had for two-three years. no name given or business name given. wanting you to press a # key to get off caqll list or # key to talk to a live REP.  SCAM to get Info on your ACCOUNTS--do not respond to these calls.

Of course it's Rachel/Heather/Stacy/Other Lying Name from Cardholder or Cardmember Services or Other Lying Scam PITA. The complaints to the FTC do work somewhat in that they have taken court action against people connected to these calls. The question is whether the equipment and set-up is being used by more than one group or if the group the FTC caught is violating a federal court injunction. The only immediately gratifying payback against these turdballs I've been able to come up with is to pretend to be interested and set the phone down while I look for my credit cards. At least I can go back to doing what I was doing while taking some satisfaction in tying them up for a few minutes. My record is 16 minutes, 45 seconds.

Just received a call but didn't answer.  PACIFICTEL?  I live in Tennessee!  Am  also on the DNCL and have been for years.  It doesn't stop telemarketers from calling so why register?  I filed a  complaint not long ago with the FCC but it doesn't do any good.  I  give up!  Normally, I answer the phone and lay it down until they hang up.  Refuse to answer these calls!

I received a call from Rachel.  Last month I presses 3 to opt out of the calls.

I get calls from this number 2-3 times a day .I never answer because of the previous comments

How do I get these calls to stop?  I have talked to them and asked them to stop calling and am also on the do not call list.  They say they can't remove my number from their call list.  Is there some way I can register a complaint to make the stop calling?

I get tons of telemarketing calls a day. These people have been calling me for months and I'm so sick of it. I am on the Do Not Call List, but they don't care. I keep reporting to the FCC, but they don't seem to do anything about it. These people call and never leave a message. I get the info from the caller ID. I don't answer any phones anymore, because I know that's what they are... telemarketers all day long.

Ill try one more time to explain this. I work for the I T of a phone company.  These are not real telemarketers. They are random calls to you and thousands of others.  They work through a internet server where they find and use numbers that are not in service. I will not tell you how as that is what I get paid to know. Thus you can not call the number back as it is not in use as far as the phone company who owns the number is concerned. They are scam calls to do only one thing - get your credit card number. They are all out of service by day end and start all over the next day with  a new name or number or same number if still available. You are nothing more than a random call to them.  If you want to believe it is a political call or sales call or vacation call then they have you half way there to get your credit card number.
Don't answer or take it personal.

Credit Card Scam

Was on another call on my cell when this number came through.  I didn't recognize it so didn't switch over to answer.  As I suspected, it was another scam.  Thank You to everyone who's posted the details of these scammers.  I will report them to the DNC (which does no good) so don't forget to report this scam and phone harassment to your State Attorney General, too!

Oh, I also wanted to add this:  The DNC registry is for Legitimate businesses.  They are the ones who are required to abide by the Do Not Call Registry.  SCAMS like this fake "lower your credit card interest" (even though I don't even have credit cards, do not have to abide by the rules, as they are not legitimate.  That's one reason we have to report them to the Attorney General, since this people are perpetrating fraud.
