I was called a few times, and at very odd hours.  Perhaps they have a random dialer to see which numbers are good and which are bad... that way they can call at a later time?  In any sense, I figured I would call the number and this is what I found out.

Kantar Operations (Ops) is a researching company that works with Added Value, Millward Brown, and Research International to gain insight how you use certain products.  You can reach me at 630-505-3008 or you can visit them on their website...

    http://www.kantaroperations.com/

I called their phone number and basically get a recorded message on who Kantar Ops is, what their purpose is, and they have a feature to remove your number from their calling database so you won't receive anymore calls.  Hope this helps!

I've received a call on my personal cellphone from this company several times in the last month, but this is the first time that I got a live person right away rather than silence.  The woman on the line asked to speak to the financial officer of my company.  I explained that this number is a personal cellphone number on the "do not call list." She said that it didn't matter, that they are exempt since they are not selling anything but are doing a research survey.  She then repeated her request to speak to the financial officer of my company.

I'm going to forward this to my Congressman - if this company is indeed exempt from using the "Do Not Call" list, the law should be changed.
I again explained that this is a personal cellphone - and that I couldn't transfer her anywhere if I wanted to. She then asked if I owned a business anyway.  I told her that it wasn't any of her business and then hung up.

While I am annoyed by these calls on my landline, when they call my cellphone they are costing me money.  These companies have no right to call people who do not want to be called.

Received a call from these bozos.  They told me that since they were not selling anything they were free to call me.  I told them to cease and desist calling me, and if they were to call me again I would consider it harrassment and would take necessary action.

Perhaps we should find out who their clients are and tell them what a sleazy company they are, and how they consider themselves to be beyond the law.  Granted market research isn't covered under the do not call list, but if someone tells them not to call them, probably the dumbest thing they can do is to argue with them.

I did call the number back and they claim they will remove you from their list, but after talking with their phone people I doubt they will honor it.

To put it nicely, Kantar Operations is a sleazy operation, I would either hang up on them or give them the most absurd answers to their questions in hopes of making their "research" invalid.

I get this one too. I normally don't post but had to when I read "Barb's" comment about calling the police. This is kinda like calling 911 for a bad hamburger(its been done) The police have much better things to do than dealing with something like this, that is why there is a website set up to report these people to the FTC at this URL https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx Please don't bother the police, they probably just take the call and file it in bin 13. Use the website, that's why it is there...

I've gotten two calls from these guys too.  Since telephone surveys are not covered by the FTC "do not call" regulations, filing a complaint will do nothing.  But I certainly wouldn't dial 911 either.

Suggest we all get a lifeguard whistle, then "blow the whistle" when these guys call.  Of course, you have to have a real live human on the line when you do it....

What a riot - I just got online to look up this number; it's 7 p.m. on a Sunday night. I feel sorry for them if they reach any CFOs in the office at this hour - I doubt they'll be in a very good mood.

This number is calling my home unlisted number, it is showing up Kantor Ops. It has been happening for several days this week usually around 5:00-6:00 PT.
I am on a DO NOT CALL list and I should not be receiving calls from solicitors.

I also had a similar experience. Tonight, I asked to be taken off their list and the caller told me that was not possible because our phone was "selected at random by their computer". I got the company name then looked them up on the Internet. Called their corporate number in Santa Monica and politely explained my problem and asked to be connected to someone who could help.

    I was forwarded to:

     Jennifer Singleton
     (310) 309-3356

I spoke with her and calmly explained my situation and my frustration with the original caller. She was very polite and handled the call professionally, did not make excuses, took my name and phone number, gave me her direct number and promised to immediately address the issue.  She said if they called me again that I should call her again directly.

Will it work?  I'm not sure but I'll give her a chance. Ms. Singleton appeared to take my concerns seriously and that's better than a lot of places. I'll report back here if this strategy is less than effective.

okay first of all people. the worse thing you can do is HANGING UP. just tell them that they are calling a business line and they will not call you back because HANGING UP will only put your number BACK in the call back PILE 2. NUMBERS are randomly generated. they dont come from a stupid book or anything. its literally all freakin random. 3. just let them know that u want to be put on the do not call list and you are not interested. thats all you gotta say and they will not call you back. 4. JUST SUCK IT UP and do the damn survey and they WILl NEVER cALL YOU back again after that! so just take 30 min of your time and do IT.

got a call on Sept. 4, 2008 at 6:23 pm PT. Listed as Kantor Ops. What I cannot understand is that with all of the electronic networking, switching, billing, and tracking that the phone companies rely on, that after a year, with dozens of complaints, absolutely nothing is done. This is a major annoyance, is illegal and legislation was created to provide damages to those who perpetrate such. Is ANYONE, anywhere, developing a system to track these calls, identify the callers, and deal with them. Whoever makes these calls is paying some company for their service. We need a means to probe directly to the source. If anyone is aware of such, please get the word out. Thanks.

I visited the website for Kantor Ops and here are phone numbers to contact them (web: http://www.kantaroperations.com/3-7-1-interviewer.aspx)for them.
I suggest we just call them to apply for their interviewer jobs, or whatever, or perhaps just query them about their business.

I called the number and got an recorded message.  This is a company that performs surveys for three research organizations that are named in the message (Added Value, Miller Brown, and Research International).  They are a member of or affiliated with CASRO (COUNCIL OF AMERICAN SURVEY RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS). The message provided a website (kantaroperations.com) and a automated means to remove your number from the list.  The website looks legit, but that is easy enough to do.

Now how did they get our numbers?  My number is listed in the "National Do Not Call" database -- yet I received this call.

I blocked my outgoing caller ID, so not to receive a call back to my number.
