- Jeff| 1 replyTotal scam!! They can't guarantee that any of the employees will give any of the businesses. A great way to spend 1,000 dollars and the people will not show. I worked there. The employees do not request any type of business that they want to save money.
This is a total scam. Ask more questions if you must. I worked there!! - Crystal| 1 replyA complete scam! I tried the service for the year and I did not get any customers. It does not work. Lots of the companies in my area also was in the program and saw no results.
Spend your money elsewhere if you are smart!!! - LasikExpert| 3 repliesPerhaps not a "total scam", but most certainly a product with limited benefits.
PerksCard is a discount card. The businesses that provide discounts are also asked to pay to be included in the roster of businesses that provide discounts. This amount varies. It appears that it varies by how much you are willing to pay.
When PerksCard has a list of local businesses who will provide a discount, they then endeavor to provide the PerksCard to employees of a particular business. They seem to target government agencies and hospitals.
My PerksCard representative contacted our organization seeking a discounted provider for Lasik vision correction surgery. Valerie's caller ID number was 631-870-2182 and the callback number was 1-800-727-3757 ex. 161.
The "scam" portion is how PerksCard is presented to potential discounting businesses. Valerie started with "I'm working with Sutter-Auburn hospital...". Actually, there seems to be absolutely no connection between PerksCard and Sutter-Auburn Hospital other than PerksCard has targeted Sutter-Auburn Hospital as its "beneficiary" of the discounts PerksCard arranges with local businesses.
The presentation was pleasant, not pushy, but artfully presented as to hide the true nature of the Sutter-Auburn Hospital/PerksCard relationship. I have no doubt that the employees will be offered the card (stacked in the lunch room? under the wiper of every car in the employee parking lot?), but there is nothing to indicate that the PerksCard would be issued or sanctioned by Sutter-Auburn Hospital.- Caller: PerksCard
- psyclepump| 1 replyOK. What business are you in and how did you track the business you received from PerksCard? After you signed up, did your exclusive status remain, or did they violate that part of the contract? Did you sign up for the base rate of 1000, or did you go all in for an ad on the card itself? Of the total #employees that were referred to you, what was the number that actually called or visited your website? Of those, what was your conversion ratio? Do you feel that it was a valuable enough medium to continue for a second year? Did you change the discount in the folowing year? Were the people that you got as customers the best of the group, or more like people looking for a discount?
The reason I ask is that I am considering this seriously, and I know that a thoughtful approach to this form of advertising might pay off, if done right. Please share your experiences.
PerksCard is definitely trying to sell ad space, and use some typical high pressure and questionable sales techniques. I see through that. But the result is what is important: does it work?

Googled the hospital name given, no such thing, then googled the phone numbers, and found this site for the 631# and another for the 800-727-3757 return call number. I'm not going to call back.

- Thomas (ower of a DJ company)I got a call from a Valerie Mulligan from Perks Card stating that Johns Hopkins Health System Corp is looking for an exclusive DJ compay to provide music for their employees only. She went on to say that I would get perks as well when I asked her what's in it for my company if I am DJing for a discounted rate? Further into the conversation I gave her my e-mail address to send me the forms so I could take a look and I thought were they kidding? after I saw the rates they wanted up front, WOW!! This was alot of money to put up front for someone who just cold calls me out of the blue and I know nothing about. I thought right away this was a scam and I started to do some research on this company and came to the conclusion that this was a definite scam and told them thanks but no thanks. BEWARE OF PERKS CARD!!!

bvergano@perkscard.com - JeffI worked their and this is how they do it.....
Joel who works in Corporate cold calls corporations with 1000 or more employees to offer discounts to their employees free of charge. They send back corporate agreements and target local businesses. Most corporations just check anything so their not looking for a specific thing. The sales reps make you think that they have so many people who are interested and they need just one but inactuality, they say that just to set urgency to get you to pay NOW. Its an impulse sale and if you bought, you got scammed. YOU SEE NOT ONE PERSON! NOT ONE! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND LET IT GROW IN A HIGH YIELD BUSINESS SAVINGS ACCOUNT.- Caller: Scam Artist
- Brad Terris| 2 repliesI work there and no employees request any businesses to be part of it.
The companies are contracted for 1 year to be on the Perks Card. None of them renew it!!!!!
Save your time and money!!!!
Perks Card is a total scam!!!!!!!!!!! - Billy| 2 repliesI worked at PerksCard. Here's how it works:
They have two main departments. One department within PerksCard calls on the HR departments of companies and organizations that have 1,000 or more employees. They offer to give them the PerksCards and a newsletter promoting the businesses for free.
PerksCard then sends the company a form that basically says, "Check off any business category that you think your employees would like to receive a discount at".
Of course, most people in HR check off every business category so that their employees can receive discounts at the maximum number of business categories possible.
Once PerksCard receives this form back from the organization, it gives the sales reps at PerksCard just enough of a right to call a business in one of categories that were checked off by the HR person at the organization that will be receiving the PerksCard and it allows the sales rep to say, "ABC Organization is looking for a (Pizza Place, Car Wash etc.), where they can go for (dinner, car washes, etc.).
To say that it is a scam though would not be accurate. When I worked there, I know there were businesses that got a lot of business from it and renewed year after year. A major factor has to do with how well the receiving organization promotes the PerksCard to their employees. PerksCard does offer to do a newsletter for the organizations, promoting the businesses, but many organizations do not properly distribute these newsletters to their employees.
My suggestion to anyone considering investing in this type of marketing is to ask to speak with the contact person at the organization that is receiving the PerksCard and their newsletters. Find out how they'll be distributing the PerksCards to their employees and find out how they'll be distributing the newsletter that PerksCard providing (and how often) if this is being done at that particular organization.
When I worked there, I regularly gave out the name of the contact person(s), so that the business who was considering advertising could make an informed decision. Hopefully, PerksCard still gives this information out to prospective advertisers, because that is certainly a reasonable thing to requeest if you're going to invest $995. - MainerSame jibber jabber about working for a local hospital in southern Maine seeking house painters to refer to the hospital's employees.
