i was slightly sceptical about the information...but i suppose unless they can confirm your details they wont pay out...anyway i've sent them my details although i've changed certain details like my age/name as that should be irrelevant (so see whats happens) in the claim form but all the address details were correct,  as was the email address for paypal (so that they can pay me)... thus if i start getting rubbish through email or letters with this name i know where its started from but i'll update further when i hear something

hi just to let u guys know...i have had the payment from m-biz into my paypal account...so everything seems to have gone through successfully

I advise you if you haven't used the codes or been sent them twice(charged twice) or even had a minor use the phone without permission to ask for a refund...via they're website

for your safety (ie scamming) i would possibly put a Different name/age/address for your credentials but make sure you put a valid email address for you correspondance and paypal payment and i possibly wouldn't give them my bank details...but thats just me

It was a lengthy process for just 4.50 but it was more of the principle than the amount...i had to email a copy of my bill and also photos of my phone showing i had deleted the game now....

so if you feel strongly enough about it ...claim it back

ps if you need further advise i will check up on here every couple of days to help....

the number is a third party games site, and if you look at the games on your phone and use the free trial period you may well accidentally find yourself subscribing to them........BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.....when you get a new phone.....DELETE the games allready on there and get yourself some free ones on the web..theres loads out there

Just found the cost of £3.83 against 82018 - after reading this thread it looks like my daughter managed to request an unlock code for one of the games on my Samsung (she's 7)

I'm extremely annoyed at O2 who insisted point blank that I'd sent a text requesting a premium rate service - which I hadn't. There was nothing in 'sent' items nor on my bluebook 'sent' items. The O2 person then said that the only way to stop this was to send a text saying STOP to the number - BE AWARE - This means that O2 then profit from you as well as the games company.

I'm still trying to ascertain whether the unlock code is a recurring charge - if it isn't, then telling you to send a STOP text is as big a SCAM as the original game SCAM

I ALSO PURCHASED A NEW SAMSUNG TOCCO LITE RECENTLY AND WAS SHOCKED TO REALISE MY BALANCE WENT DOWN BY £9 OVERNIGHT!  I CONTACTED 02, THEY SAID IT WAS THE 2 TEXTS I HAD RECEIVED FROM 82018 AND I SHOULD CONTACT THEM TO RETRIEVE MY MONEY. I RANG 02032872847 AND I MAY AS WELL HAVE ASKED MY 8 MONTH BABY TO SORT OUT MY PROB!  OBVIOUSLY THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD TO PLAY DUMB, HE KEPT TELLING ME I HAD ORDERED A GAME - HE REPEATED IT A MILLION TIMES!  I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH PHONE RAGE - I WAS LIKE A MAD WOMEN AND MY THROAT SORE AFTER THE CONVERSATION!

I SENT AN EMAIL AND THIS IS THE RESPONSE THEY SENT, THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVEN'T A BRAIN BETWEEN THEM AND FIND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE HARD TO UNDERSTAND!

I have just swapped to a new phone with Virgin and have had exactly the same thing happen.  My first bill has come through with a £4.50 charge and when I phoned to complain, they told me that I had text 82018 and purchased something like a ring tone for £4.50.  When I told them I had sent no such text message, they said it had definitely come from my phone.

There are preloaded games on my phone and I had a look at one of them which said I could use the trial version.  From reading other comments, it appears as if this is some kind of scam and I find it outrageous that Virgin allow their phones to be pre-loaded with this.  At no point was I warned of a charge or given the choice of whether to proceed.  My phone is manufactured by Samsung and I will be writing to both Virgin and Samsung to complain.  It's only a small amount, but if they're scamming thousands of people in this way, someone somewhere is getting very rich and everyone else's expense!

I too have been caught out by this.

I bought a Samsung J700 for my daughter and within 3 minutes of switching it on she had received a text from 82018.

This is surely a scam as the phone had not even been used at this point.

Again, as others have found out, the service provider (Virgin)did not want to know. MBIZ are obviously crooks and think that Samsung and Virgin, as the suppliers of this phone, are jointly responsible for the costs incurred.

I will be contacting Trading Standards on this one. I will also be cancelling my contract with Virgin and getting the phone unlocked and will move to another service provider. Virgin will be the ultimate losers in this instance as my whole family are with Virgin, thats 6 phones in total, but will ALL be moving to another Provider.

    Same as most others.
Daugther/14 years old/new phone/£4.60 extra on bill/no text received or sent in phone log to this number = SCAM.
Contacted M-Biz who promised refund - waiting to see.
He said once in a demo game you reach a certain level there is an automated sending of texts asking to buy game.
Anyone taking this further like contacting Ofcom, Trading Standards, Watchdog?
    This needs to be stopped.
She ia adament she didn't send or answer this text.

UPDATE - I WAS ALSO PROMISED A REFUND.  THEN MBIZ SAID THEY WOULD ONLY REFUND IF AFTER I GOT THEM EVIDENCE FROM 02.  I EMAILED 02 AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY £10 TO RETRIEVE THE INFO!!

I HAVE CONTACT PHONEPAYPLUS.ORG.UK - PhonepayPlus is the regulatory body for all premium rate charged telecommunications services.  I HAD TO FORWARD ALL EMAILS TO THEM.  I HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN UPDATE, BUT THEN 02 SENT ME A FURTHER EMAIL CONFIRMING THE CHARGE. I HAVE FORWARDED THIS TO MBIZ - NO REFUND STILL.

I INTEND TO EMAIL SAMSUNG AND THINK YOU ALL SHOULD DO THE SAME - REPORT THEM TO PHONEPAYPLUS AND COMPLAIN TO SAMSUNG.

Looks like my son has just been charged a total of £9.00 for two text services received (£4.50 each) which according to my bill were triggered by a 82018 text which my son claims he never sent. I am with virgin media, who I have contacted but have no response as yet. Does anyone know how to stop this, seems criminal!

On the 1st Sept. my daughters new Virgin PAYG phone was scammed.
    01-Sep-09 10:59:00 82018 - Text service sent £0.10
    01-Sep-09 10:59:00 700046033 - Text service received £4.50

all evidence of any text messages sent/recieved auto deleted itself from the phone.

PhonePay Plus were able to direct us to :
Sybase | 365 Helpdesk United Kingdom
    sybase365-uk@mobilesupport.co.za

They then got M-Biz Global to contact us....via someone called Dr Royan.
    http://www.rexesbpo.com/contact.html

I finally myself traced the refund page of MBiz
    www.mbizglobal.co.uk/refund

now I am trying to get Virgin to prove the theft of the credit as I did nt take a screenshot and now the calls have rolled over as they only keep them for 2 weeks...

I've also had an email back from MBiz saying my first attempt at filling in their online form got corrupt and could I try again....delaying tactics?
