I have a feeling 785-890-8855 'is' a working number but when you call it, forwards you to a NON-working number.  I too got called and when I try to call it back, it rings ONCE. Usually, from my phone, if it's disconnected - it won't ring at all.  Anyways, chalk me up as annoyed as well. :)

area code is in Kansas.

Is there a way to block them?  I don't intend to pay for this on my cell bill!

I've been receiving the 'car warranty' call for the past two months now. I haven't been called in about four weeks until this morning they called but left no message.

Number showed up with no name on my cell phone. Obvious B.S. sales call of some sort. Good thing we all put our names and numbers on the "Do Not Call List".  Maybe the guys who are supposed to be enforcing it are on the "Donut Call List"?

Have you heard of numbe spoofing?

The number left a voice mail on my cell with an automated response system, but it gets cut-off.

I received a call on my cell from that # on 7/25 also. I didn't answer since the # was unfamilar.  Oddly enough I just had my 2004 Acura (30 days left on warranty) in for service that same week. There is a definite connection.

My 12 year old, warranty-less car is currently in a junk yard, and has been for 6 months now. There is no connection at all. Denise- I'm sure that is just a coincidence!

There actually are a few things you can do.  Verizon cell customers - you can call Verizon and they will be happy to block that number for 60 days.  It won't even reach your phone.  Given the pattern of these spammers, by then they will have moved on to a new number.  Also, and please do this - visit www.ftc.gov and file a complaint.  They have a specific web form just for telemarketer calls.  It's fast & easy.  Also, make sure your number is on the national "Do Not Call" registry.  Though I doubt these crooks are worrying too much about that, it might stop others.  And finally, I don't think they're really in Kansas.  They're just spoofing some truly disconnected number to feed your caller id.  And it does act like a real disconnected number ( recording repeats, no "beeps", can't break it by keying in numbers, etc.)

I got the car warranty scam and gave my make model et and zip code, sounds like an identity thief, I'm calling his neighbors and Goodland PD right now...

I too get these on my cell phone ( 785-890-8855 ). No one but family gets my cell number. This particular number calls at least twice a week for the last month. I don't answer the number I don't know on the caller ID. Another on that calls the cell was one for an extended warranty on my car.

same guy just called me at 11:45am on my cell. I looked up the number on yellowpages.com and found the name... Lance Keys. wtf. this is stupid. some freaky stalker guy? I hope not. if it's just about car warranties or something... that doesn't add up because I don't even own a car. I actually just got my license, but of course I never entered my cellphone number anywhere. it's so weird. I don't want to have to pay for this moron's call, I have a prepaid phone lol please don't waste my minutes!!!

I received this call around 2:05pm, they left a message about renewing my car warranty. What a bunch of garbage.

Got a call today on cell phone. I didn't answer because I don't answer out of town area codes I don't recognize. I have been getting the old "car warrenty" warning on a couple I did answer a few weeks back.

I received a call from this number today in Vero Beach.... I just got my mobile number the other day and I do not have GEICO... I didn't answer it though. I find it somewhat amusing that someone in Kansas is calling numbers in Florida...  Not unheard of, but amusing.
