- Citicustomerit's legit. The number5 that appeared on my phone was 956-86 and the message was asking about a transaction from 08-09 at Walmart for $1.00. I thought immediately, "That's fraud. I didn't have any of those cards in 2009, who cares about a dollar in 2009 anyway". I checked my account online after checking this page and reading the previous messages and sure enough when i got there written in red bold letters "Contact Customer Service immediately to avoid transaction interruptions. 1-800-950-5114". So I called this new number, although it seemed legit I was still paranoid. So I ended up calling the number on the back of my card. As it turns out someone did get hold of my card number. I live in California and they were trying to use it at a Walmart in Indiana. In a previous month they tried to get cash out. Thankfully Citibank declined both these transactions. So don't ignore text from this number. it's legit but also be cautious and call the number on the back of your card. Prevent the identity theft and act now. If you don't have a card they are contacting you about it's likely someone has used your info to fraudently obtain a card in your name. So call a number you trust and protect yourself.
- Caller: Citicards Fraud Dept
- Call type: Text message
- anonIt was Citi Credit Card Services Security. They wanted to make sure charges on my account were valid (they were). I told them their caller id should say they are Citi instead of Toll Free Number.
- VickiThis IS Citibank. Someone had got our credit card number and was using it. Even though we had not lost our cards. Thank you Citibank for protecting us.
- Caller: Citibank
- John FI got a text msg saying to call to 8003866624. Citi bank fraud unit
Rip off still in 2013? - AngelaThis is a phishing attempt to gain your credit card number. This isn't the real citi card.
- Caller: Scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- GThis is legit. It really is Citibank calling about credit card fraud.
- Caller: Citibank
- MIT IS LEGIT !!!!!! NOT A SCAM
I received a text message and an automated phone call from Citi about a fraud alert. Instead of calling the number that was texted to me, I called the phone number on my card cause I know that number is legit. There was indeed a fraud alert on my account and someone was using my card number.
When in question..... Call the number on your card! - M.E.Was left several messages on my cell phone and text messages received as well asking to call Citi Banks fraud dept.. @ 1800-386-6624. I called since the messages were left on my company's work cell phone. I don't have a Citi bank acct. After I asked the "CSR" who answered why they were calling me, he said because of fraudelent charges on my acct. I told him my account was probably closed for non-use in many years. He said, "then that's probably why bcz he showed a copuple of declines" so maybe someone tried to use our card. He asked me for account # to verify, I asked him didn;t you pull up with the phone # bcz of my acct# is not avail.? he said no, that info was just linked to the phone # but needs the acct # to pull acct. or a second # listed in the account. I gave him a 2nd #, he said nothing pulled up, then when he asked me for my social security number....that's when I told him "I am not giving you any more numbers specially my social sec #! if you are from the fraud dept, then you should have more info than that since you keep calling and texting me!!" I sensed he started to get upset because I didn't release anymore infor, so he said ok then just refer to that back of your card for the fraud dept number and contact us back with further help, ok? good bye" and he hung up. So thats when I did a search and I came up with all sorts of similar complaints.
********************* BE CAREFUL ********************DON'T GIVE ANY INFORMATION AT ALL, NOT YOUR NAME, OR ADDITIONAL PHONE #'S FOR THEM TO ALLEDGELY SEARCH FOR YOUR ACCOUNT RECORDS ********* ITS A SCAM !!!!!!!!!!!- Caller: CITY BANK FRAUD DEPT
- JudithI got a call from this number, then an email saying there was fraudulent activity on my card. I called the number on the back of my card and when I entered my credit cards last 4 numbers I was routed directly to the Fraud Department. They are supposed to be sending a new card but I haven't received it yet. The caller ID just says Toll Free.
- Caller: Apparently CitiBank
- Fraud victimI received a call from this number this morning at my work! I have no idea how they would even get my direct extension. The woman said there were fraudulent charges on my Citi Mastercard.... which I don't even have. The woman wanted me to verify my credit card number that was through Citi. Obviously I didn't give her that number.
It's a completed scam! Don't fall for it.- Caller: Citi cards
- Big MacThe message was legit, call CiTi to get your account straight. Someone has your credit card number and making charges…
- J RooneyCalling on my cell phone. Isn't leaving a message.
- WeldonCalled my work phone twice over the weekend, but did not leave a message. Glad I researched it here, as I did have a few fraudelent charges on my card from a few states away. I called customer service, not this number.
- Caller: Citi MasterCard
- GP BunceScammers can SPOOF any number to fool your caller ID. Just because Citibank confirms it is its tel number does not mean that the actual call you receive is from Citibank.
As others have said the only way to be sure the call is legit is to call the Citibank number ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD.- Caller: ???
- AnnoyedAlotThis number is a fraud. The robo-caller is not specific as to which Citicard there is a problem with... for example if you have a MasterCard, the real Citibank MasterCard will specify, so you don't have to call Citi Visa, too if you have both...
I just spend 20 minutes on the phone confirming this with Citibank's lame customer service- Caller: Fake Citibank
- teeI received 2 calls and one text from 800-386-6624 - I believe this is a scam because I do not have a Citi card and the name they gave me that the card belongs to is not me. The best thing to do is call the number on the back of your card to be safe.
- Caller: Citi Cards
- Plano, TexasNo message left. Blocked it!
- Caller: Who Cares!
- JNumber reported to be from Citibank on the web. I have received calls from this number, no messages left. If it is really associated with Citibank it's a scam because I do not do any business with Citibank, nor have I ever.
- KeithThis number is legit and is from CitiBank fraud. I called the 800 number on my card and they verified they were trying to contact me regarding a charge.
- Caller: CitiBank
- NoraI thought this was suspicious especially since a 1 second blank voicemail was left. I called the number on my Citi card and they confirmed that this was an official number from their fraud department calling to let me know my number was part of the Home Depot data breach and they are sending me a new card. From my experience I am convinced it is a legit Citi number but it always good to call the main number and verify if you have any doubts at all!
- Caller: Citibank
