The number 800-386-6624 is the Citibank Credit Card Fraud Department.  I verified it when I visited a Citibank. The number is legitimate and if you are asked to call it please do so.  If you want yo check it out for yourself call the number on your credit card before calling this number.

I just received a recorded message from this number and was asked to call to verify charges on my Citi card from a video store made just this morning.  I called them back with the case number and told them that I did not make that purchase.  They told me to tear up the cards I have and new ones would be FedEx on Monday or Tuesday the latest. I did call the number on the back of my card and it was Citi card fraud department and everything is as it should be now.  It was a good catch by Citi.

These azzwipes called my friend and said they were with Citibank and wanted personal account information...She declined and called the number on the back of the card...They said it was a phishing scam...She is getting a new card just in case...I reported these [***] to the Do Not Call registry and blocked their number with AT&T.  Caveat Emptor, folks...

A legitimate call from Citi asking me if I charged $1.23 to a Mexican phone service. Of course I did not, and we canceled my card and a new one is being issued. The call from Citi came on my mobile phone and they knew my telephone password. I still called the number on my card at the same time to verify the legitimacy of the call.

Four calls in less than 1/2 hr. Interestingly enough, it was from 3 different numbers 617-714-0762, 423-467-6460, and 800-386-6624. First of all, I don't have ANY Citi cards. Secondly, my name is not Jen "Muphlacvgs" (really - that's what it sounded like). Third, they asked me to put in my ENTIRE account number, or if I didn't know that, then my ENTIRE SSN. I ignored all the robo-prompts and waited for a person to answer. When she did, I told her my name was not Jen Muphlacvgs, I don't HAVE a Citi Card, and please don't continue calling me. So, then she asked for my real name (not giving her that either), so she could "figure out what's going on". She said she couldn't look up anything just using my phone #. I said then I guess we're done here, and hung up. One minute later, 423-467-6460 called AGAIN! I just blocked all the #'s. Maybe somebody gave Citi a bogus phone # (mine), but that's no concern of mine. They asked for a lot of my own info that clearly was none of their business.

You should also have received an email/text message from CitiCard. My advice is to sign into your account. If there is a fraud alert you will get an immediate notification. You can then call the number shown in that alert. The CSR will asked to send a text message with a ID number you read back. The fraud alert is probably valid and they will cancel your card(s) and send you new ones the next day. You will have to activate the card(s). If you have your card listed for automatic payments, or as the principal form of payment on-line, you will need to update all of those merchants with the new card details. Have fun!

You people saying that it's not a scam are full of it! You're so slick to come on this site and put up a lot of messages saying it's legitimate. I really hope people listen to the few of us that KNOW you're a scam.

Please be careful with this one! It's fraud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Legitimate!  Got a text saying it was Citicard fraud alert. Went online to my Citi account and the fraudulent charge was indeed there. Spoke to a representative and they took care of the charge and closed that account number and will send me a new card.

This is legit.  I just received a call and while I was on the phone with them, I logged into the website and could see the transactions that they believed were fraudulent.

Something to note - It's insanely easy to spoof a Caller-ID.  I can easily do it with my small-biz VOIP system, it takes me five minutes to change my Caller-ID information to any number in the world.  Not that I ever DO it... but I could.

This # does belong to City Fraud dept.  However, card holders should always call the 800 # on the back of their card to be on the safe side as crooks have become very smart in spoofing #s.  Somebody tried to charge $5.00 in San Diego which was declined and which prompted the call from Citi bank.  Card is now cancelled and a new one will be issued with new #s.  Crooks usually try to charge $1.00 - $5.00 to see if they are successful @ a gas station or Ancestry.com.

This is legit!  My card number was used in 2 different states,  within just a few minutes.  Being wary of calling the number they left on the message,  I called the customer service number on the back of my card.  Someone had made fake duplicates of my card,  and was using them over 500 miles away!  If ever in doubt,  just call the number on your card and check.  In this case,  it turned out to be real!

Sorry, not phishing!  If anyone has questions, just call the customer service number on the back of your card.  Better safe than sorry.  Also,  be aware that some of their employees may not take the time to check,  if they say that no,  you haven't been called,  ask to be transferred to the fraud dept.  that is what I did, and it turned out to be a real concern!

This is the same phone number on the back of my citibank card. The was activity on my card that they had to verify. Good thing because the charges were not mine. So this is not a scam.

I received a call from 1-800-366-6624 and was told that my card was compromised.  I hung up and went on line to check my card and sure enough there were charges made from TN.  My card was closed.
