I work in the very department EVERYONE is complaining about... not sure if you guys know what the law is for HIPAA but maybe you should look it up. if you recieve a call maybe you should contact your member services number on the back of your card. these are benefits that you pay for. we are required to call you to share information. all of our calls come out of the same number even in different departments. I personally call out with the Image Cost and Quality department. if your doctor orders a diagnostic imaging test we will call you to tell you its been approved and how long you have to get it done. we will also let you know how much the facility is costing and where else you can go to reduce cost. providing someone the year you were born will not allow us to steal your identity and im sure more than one person was born the year you were born! if you get a message asking you to call back the number 877-309-4886 look up anthem.com/compare or anthem.com/ca/compare our other site which is inline with your coverage which ever plan you have is bcbsga.com/compare. before you yell at us figure out your benefits and what you pay for. anytime you dont want to provide information you may want to call member services and check to see if this is included in your benefits. simply telling us not to call you anymore when returning a call isnt going to stop the calls as we do not know who we are talking to. .... think before you just be rude to us... we are trying to assist you and we are doing our job to inform you of benefits you pay for!!! and so you know there are several entities of anthem we have anthem bc anthem bcbs anthem bcbsco anthem bcbsct anthem bcbsme bcbsga embirebc so on and so forth dont think you know everything and we are scammers..... be patient

In my case, it was a legit call from Anthem BC/BS with some information I had requested.

The call to me said it is "in regards to health services that's available".  Why on earth would I call back for that?  The people making the calls need to put themselves in their customers shoes and work out how to be actually useful and meaningfully communicate.

I have a question? I wasn't rude when someone called from bs/bs. I spoke with them. I answered their questions. I had just been released from the hospital(they had this information so I assumed it was not a scam). My question is this... Why then did they then call my family physician the very next day to ask him the same questions to verify my answers were accurate?  I have issue with that!? To me, that is an invasion of my privacy!  They said some of my answers did not completely correspond to the hospitals diagnosis. Ummmm gee, am I a physician, and I was unconscious. So I guess I may have not known everything!

This is legit as far as not 100% scam. I got the call from 800-405-1806, robocall, telling me to call back 855-537-3347. After reading these posts I called, entered extension 41141, and spoke with someone name Elijah. All I gave him was my phone number and confirmed my name, and he did know that I was an employee. Unfortunately he said said that because of that he couldn't access my records to remove me from their calling list, and said that a nurse would need to do that, but they leave at 8:00 pm ET (I called at 8:09). He was pleasant enough, promising to give my information to a Lead who would remove me from the list. We'll see. But anyway, I agree this is either an obscure part of Anthem itself, or a vendor to whom they've farmed out this work (Anthem does a lot of that).

I keep getting calls from this number saying their Anthem insurance. Our company was breeched so they now have all my information.
After I had already talked to them I was told not to respond.

This is a scam. Everyone that has Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield was hacked. When they called me the guy had all my information even medication, surgeries and doctors.
I called my employer, they said Anthem wI'll not call anyone at all. Letters will be sent out.

Any time you are diagnosed with a new medical problem and you have bcbs or insurance that uses healthways type companies, you will get a call about that condition. They want you to talk to them and make sure you are "taking corrective measures". In other words, they are butting in on how you take care of yourself and telling you what you need to do. I personally find it an invasion of privacy, but two family members received these calls after diagnosis of new conditions. We ignore the calls.

Pretend to be calling from insurance company trying to get personal information, please don't give it away

Caller ID only said "Toll Free Caller". I answered anyway and she said she was from Anthem, the drug division, and wanted to share "important information about some drugs". Then she asked my year of birth as "confirmation" of who she was talking to. I said no because I had no way of knowing that she was really from Anthem because of the caller ID. She said she couldn't continue giving me information and would note that I had declined to speak with my drug provider. In sales, we call that a "hard close". If you don't do this, something bad will happen to you. Not impressed if Anthem is really behind this.

They just called tonight telling about them being with Anthem.  Goes into a spiel about how they have down on my insurance that I have coronary/ arteries problem.  Let him know that I did not & he wanted birthdate & address!  So obviously they are still at it........I too, am on the do not call list

This is NOT a scam or identity theft. This is the Condition Care program that is offered at NO COST to supplement your Anthem Health Care Insurance. It provides you with access to a Nurse Line you can contact. They will also check in with you periodically. You CAN opt out, but if you do, you won't be able to call their line either. They won't ask for your personal information (other than your year of birth) and they already have some information regarding conditions you may have (based on information from your Anthem claim history). So, if you don't want them to call you, simply accept the call, then tell them you do not agree to be contacted and they will stop calling.

I am receiving once a day calls from this number.  When I answer I can hear background noise that sounds like some type of call center but the caller hangs up on me without saying anything.

They called and left a message saying they were from Anthem Blue Cross and were offering a nurse care line,  so I called back. But when I did, they didn't have any of my information and started asking for it. I asked why I'd been contacted and they said my doctor may have recommended it, or maybe because I am taking a certain medication or not taking it. I got suspicious when she had to ask me for the phone number that I was calling from, and hung up.
