I wonder how much money they make scamming people with fake debt.
Also there have been complaints on other forums about them claiming people owe debt for a closed Chase account or owing 20$ on Blockbuster video from several years ago.- Caller: Crooked NAFS

The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government's allegations, which have not yet been proven.
In December 2007, National Action Financial Services reached an agreement with the NY State Attorney General. NAFS agreed to pay $85,000 in penalties and costs and reform its business practices. According to the AG, the company acted overzealously in attempting to collect debts from consumers – including using abusive, false and misleading tactics. In many of the complaints, the consumers reported that NAFS engaged in “skip tracing” violations, a practice in which NAFS continually called third parties for location information despite requests to stop. Other complaints indicated that NAFS collectors were falsely claiming that they were calling from an attorney's office, claiming that NAFS or a creditor was about to commence legal action, discussing debts with third parties, and/or continuing to call debtors despite requests to stop. The agreement requires NAFS to immediately reform collection practices to be in line with state and federal laws, and to devote more resources to ensuring compliance. For more information go to http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2007/dec/dec18a_07.html

- JohnEvery time you get a call file a complaint with the Do Not Call list. It did take a lot of calls to shut down the car warranty scam from a few years ago. It will take a lot of complaints to get them put back in prison.

They don't make any attempts to call the correct phone number. Why does this company go out of their way to imitate a scam.
They have a F rating with the Better Business Bureau and numerous lawsuits and fines.
They purchase debt that is way beyond the statute of limitations so if you owe the debt then you don't have to pay these crooks and they can't do anything. If I owed any debt I wouldn't pay them because of the way they act. I don't owe anything.
Since they spend most of their time dialing wrong numbers they can make up any debt if you call them.
On another forum there were complaints about them claiming people owed money on closed Chase accounts with a zero balance or forgot to return a video to Blockbuster several years ago. A lot of those people never had a Blockbuster account.- Caller: NAFS (Nasty [***] Fraud Sickos)
- RECEPTIONIST replies to DavidThis number calls at least ten times a day. (It's a business they are calling!) Idiots, with absolutely no manners. Someone needs to shut this company down. We need some consumer protection here. The Attorney General needs to investigate this company.
- Interesting article in today's newspaperThe local paper has a consumer action column and somebody was being harassed by a collection agency looking for this person's brother. That person hadn't seen or talked to the brother for several years and the collection agency won't stop calling.
The newspaper didn't mentioned the name of the collection agency but it sounds like the crooks at NAFS.
They mentioned the talked o them once and if the calls don't stop then contact:

www.donotcall.gov - M| 1 replyhahahahaha! me too! This is ridiculous. The debt collection agency and "marshall maxwell" are under investigation AGAIN, have had MANY lawsuits for unfair debt collecting practices against them. It annoys me that they call to collect a debt from me when I do not have any debts. The company buys old debts ( many of these attempts are barred by your states statute of limitations) at a insanely cheap percentage of the original debt and then whatever they DO collect from these old debts, is straight profit after their purchase price. SUCH A SCAM!

If you decide to call them don't give out your name since they probably have the wrong number. Make them tell you who they are calling.
If they know your name then make them put any debt they claim you owe in writing. Do NOT admit to owing any debt and make them mail you a letter first. If you get a letter it will probably be so vague that you don't know what the debt is for. Make them provide more information and they probably can't prove you owe anything or it is way past the statute of limitations. Even if you are honest and owe the debt these creeps don't deserve to be paid just because of the way they act.
Do not give out your bank account number, social security number or credit card number over the phone. They may try high pressure tactics to scare you and get you to pay over the phone but don't do it. It the conversation sounds even a little bit threatening file a police report.- Caller: NAFS
- Homer BechmanSame here.... "Marshall" - Guy asks for some lady I never heard of - I think we should tell him the person they are asking for had a number change and give them the state police number. Or if you have the time tell him to hold on and you will get them. Come back in a couple minutes and say they will be right here. Just keep jerking them off. Pick your option.

- NonThis number calls my husbands cell phone for a Daffney D. On the voice mail left this man says he is from Nation Action Finiancal trying to collect a debt. I return his call each time asking that he be sure to record my statement because we do not know and have never known this person. They keep telling me they will remove our number (lie) and then they call back. This time I explained I am keeping a log and will find out who I need to file a complaint with.

- creditsux! replies to anonymousok, now, if you have so much to say regarding how the company works and how "legitimate" they are....why do you hide behind..."anonymous"? Must be because you work for the slimeball company making the calls. I have no credit issues, however, will not answer the phone for 800 numbers NO MATTER who they are! AND....better tactics can be used rather than screaming and harrassing, which, by the way IS ILLEGAL AND YOU CAN BE SUED FOR IT!!!!
