two calls from 800 600 1228, precisely 20 minutes apart, as many other have said. picked up the phone second time, heard a recorded message, bot type voice, saying there was an extra charge on [my phone service] account and to have it removed stay on line to be connected.  I am paraphrasing because it was quite rapid speech. obviously a big scammer. Whatever you do people, do not fall for this. I have read of similar scams over the past months.

I was reading these about ten minutes after they called, and like clockwork, they called 20 minutes after the first one. It's a company claiming to be Verizon offering $173 off your next bill, but I don't have Verizon so I can only assume it's a scam.

Do not answer this is a scam to get acct info then when u go online and put on acct info they hack ur acct and take the numbers assigning to phones they have and take over ur myverizon acct. Dont fall for it there is no credit from verizon.

There is a scam going about that alledges to be Verizon having a 150 dollar (or other amount) card or some such.  I happened to actually be in the local verizon company store when the call came in.  I put it on speaker and let them listen to it.  Then they called the number back and ended up getting to some kind of dating service in California.  I also suggested that they might let their security people know about it since they were in fact claiming they were from Verizon.  In any case don;t answer any 800 call you aren;t expecting or let them go to voice mail.  If someone really wants you they will leave a message.  Great day!

I've had similar scam numbers call my phone. I'm a Verizon customer and they always call saying to go to some website and claim my money from Verizon. You guys are right to NOT ANSWER! And whatever you do, don't go to the website. Happy Halloween!

1st call came in at 2:58pm. 2nd at 3:18. Didn't answer either bc I didn't know number. Just came across this website, very strange. Have not called back.

I got the same call at one at 2:38 PM and then one at 2:58. I answered the second time and heard something about a special offer from "Verizon" but I hung up. Smells like a scam to me.

Ha, I got $173 off!!! Sucka!!!

Just kidding.  Well, it was www.vzw173.com, but of course I didn't go there.  It's a scam.

Same thing for me.  I didn't answer the first time but then did the second time (20 mins apart).  The robot man said told me a website to visit to redeem $173 from Verizon on my next bill "because they care".

Read all messages and I to got a call back at exactly 20 min after the first call!

got the call on cell, no message.  exactly 20 min, second call with the recorded message vz, $173, etc.  yeah, I care about you too buddy.  thanks for the heads up everyone.

Called twice in 20 mins. Didn't leave a message.

I got 2 calls, 20 mins apart at 7:03pm and 7:23pm. I didn't answer either call and no message was left. My Husband got a call about an hour later (8:25pm) from the same number and left an automated voice message that sounded like "log in to your Verizon account to claim your $173, at Verizon we care about you."

Also got two calls exactly 20 minutes apart with no voice mail. I don't intend to answer since apparently its a scam! Avoid call!

My calls were 21mins apart. 7:27 and 7:38, somebody's slacking!!

Just got a call from this #. It said I could get a credit of $153 (I think, it was hard to understand) as a Verizon Wireless customer. It said I needed to go to some website (didn't write down because I'm not a Verizon customer) & sign up for my credit. Then it thanked me for being a Verizon customer.
Again, I'm not a Verizon customer so figured it is some kind of scam. So I wouldn't worry about it.
